Rumor: Sox Pursuing Jose Quintana
Not that I’m aware of, but we are paying VV more than the Pirates are paying Quintana. It’s possible that Jose felt his opportunity to start games was better in Pittsburgh though.

Sure, David Peralta will solve everything
Last night partially broke me, but then I looked at the scoreboard and saw that the Twins last as well. The AL Central is terrible and may allow a massively underachieving team access to the playoffs. I agree our chances of winning a World Series are very low even if we make the playoffs, but you never know once you get there and it’s possible our team gets hot at just the right time. To give up some fringe prospects in a bottom five system to increase our shot at making them is worth it IMO. But I wouldn’t want Hahn to trade Montgomery for Montas or something like that.

We got Tepera for Bailey Horn. That would be the type of deal I’d go for.

Don’t know, but I’m not fully punting on a season where still have a great shot at making the playoffs. Will need to take some small gambles. Playoff revenue alone is worth taking a measured buying approach at the deadline.

And I’m sick to my stomach slotting Vaughn in RF but I want both him, Pollock, & Eloy all in the lineup today.

Here is what I want to see lineup wise today: Anderson, SS Moncada, 3B# Vaughn, RF Abreu, 1B Jimenez, DH Grandal, C# Pollock, LF Big Energy, 2B Engel, CF

Honestly, it was stupid, but it’s nice to see some emotion at times. These guys look like they are just going through the motions most of the time.

We need to add some reinforcements. This team still has a great shot at making the playoffs despite being completely lifeless at times. That being said, I would focus on relatively cheap rentals to minimize any long-term risk. For that reason, someone like Gallo makes a ton of sense. Throw in a couple relievers and just hope a light awakens at some point with this group. If not, massive changes are needed this winter from top to bottom.

But Naquin doesn’t have ties to our primary decision maker

I’ll be honest, I expect them to win these next two. This offense sucks, but I don’t think all the off days help and Tony isn’t exactly a spark getting them pumped up for a series against a last place A’s team. I do think yesterday’s beat up will serve as a wake up call to some extent. But yeah, winning 2/3 of against the Royals and splitting against the Rangers is a must. That would get us to 6-3 and keep us in the thick of things for a while longer.

White Sox Sell Thread
Well that’s all true and unfortunately the sad reality for us. And honestly, I wouldn’t trust Jerry to hire a new head baseball guy after the manager debacle with La Russa and his refusal to course correct. At this point, we just got wait Jerry out and hope when the time comes the team doesn’t transition to his boob of a son.

No doubt you actually try to improve your team during the off-season rather than wait to pay a markup at the deadline like Hahn loves to do. That being said, you really think the cost is going to be fairly high? I can’t imagine Peralta is that much more expensive than Naquin (who went for a song), but if it then that’s a problem for me.

Luis Castillo to the Mariners
My fear is Hahn overpaying for B & C tier talent. Let’s say fathom is right and the Twins go get Mahle, you know Hahn is going to overpay for someone like Thor or Quintana, which will not have a material impact on our chances to win in October.

He was drafted as a pitcher so I’d imagine yes

I’ll paste this here as someone beat me to the punch: Peralta is a strict platoon bat with a 121 wRC+ vs RHP this year and a 108 wRC+ since the start of the 2019 season. He’s probably not going to give us a lot of OBP, with him likely sitting in the .320 to .330 range. His ISO is up considerably this year, so there’s definitely some regression risk there (see Cesar Hernandez), but his secondary stats suggest he’s moved to a pull-heavier approach and is selling out some contact for additional power. Defense wise, he has exclusively been a LF since 2019 where he’s been a slightly above average fielder for the most part. He did have a strong 2019 season in which he posted 7 DRS on his way to a Gold Glove award. And he has played some RF in the past and DRS felt he was above average there. As a former pitcher, he should have the arm for it at least. At a bare minimum, I think he’d be an improvement over Sheets. I do have concerns adding a 34 year OF who would need to change leagues and positions (where have I seen this go wrong before ?) and his connection to Tony is also a bit terrifying. But if better options don’t present themselves and the price is reasonable then I’d be ok with his addition

Do you want to summarize given it’s behind a paywall?

Absolute must win today. Gotta hope the offense can scrap together three runs somehow and give Cueto a shot to win.- White Sox Sell Thread
I think when people say this they are suggesting we clean house with a new head of baseball operations. I can promise you that no one wants Jeremy Haber to be our new GM.- Fire Rick Hahn
Did I? I honestly think I disliked the pick when it was made.- Rumor: Sox Pursuing Jose Quintana
If the Sox we’re pursuing Castillo, just be prepared for a Quintana overpay- Fire Rick Hahn
They already fired him. Unfortunately we finally decided nepotism was bad and took Steele Walker over Alex Thomas- Fire Rick Hahn
Fire this coward for being afraid to fire Menechino for overseeing the most underachieving offense in White Sox history - 07/30 - A's @ White Sox, 6:15 PM CT
