Trade Rumors Catch-all
100% that same dude…what a fucking loser

I’m talking about trading Vaughn for a similar LH hitter who can handle RF. I’m guessing there is no match there, but if there is a three way trade that sends Vaughn to the Brewers, prospects to the Pirates, and Reynolds to us you have to consider it. Trust me, I have zero desire to trade Vaughn just to move him.

Of course he’s in a slump, but we still have a glut of 1B/DH types and he’s the only one who can return legit value. Him playing RF is killing all the offensive value he normally provides.

At some point next year hopefully, but I’m good with both Reynolds & Colas in the corners and Eloy at DH.

No doubt, but unlikely the Pirates would do it

Him or Eloy definitely seem destined to be gone

I love Vaughn, but I’d definitely move him and other stuff for a legit RF

Been a rough week for Vaughn

Reese McGuire (+ Taylor Broadway) to Red Sox for LHRP Jake Diekman
Not sure, but Diekman was one year removed from an excellent (but shortened) 2020 season. His numbers have further regressed since then.

Reese McGuire (+ Taylor Broadway) to Red Sox for LHRP Jake Diekman
Oh I don’t care about losing McGuire, this is more about committing salary and a roster spot next year to a 35 year old reliever who hasn’t really been good since the LOOGY rule went into effect and will be managed by one Tony La Russa. It’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but not overly excited it’s going to do much to improve the club this season. Hope I’m wrong because we no doubt need a LH reliever.

Reese McGuire (+ Taylor Broadway) to Red Sox for LHRP Jake Diekman
It’s a fine move in isolation, although giving up anything for a guy at a market based contract and underperforming is somewhat problematic. My real concern is that Hahn continues to not Tony proof his roster. This dude will face way too many RH hitters and it will cost us.

Reese McGuire (+ Taylor Broadway) to Red Sox for LHRP Jake Diekman
I assume you’re looking at bWAR…if so, don’t look at fWAR
-
Reese McGuire traded to Boston
Diekman at -0.5 fWAR on the season with a 23rd percentile xwOBA. Still really good against lefties, but my guess is Tony will use him incorrectly and erode any potential value.

There’s our SP depth…lol

Trade Rumors Catch-all
It’s definitely not the primary concern, but it’s another consideration that makes certain players more attractive to move. My point was more around those guys being players Hahn would be willing to move for an impactful piece. I don’t think he’d trade Montgomery or Colas unless it was for a star that could help 2+ seasons.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
I’m not suggesting they would trade these guys for a reliever. I think Hahn would like to use Ramos, Popeye, and/or Crochet to get something more impactful. I’m guessing that package isn’t attractive enough to get us such a player.

Interesting point from James on upcoming Rule 5 considerations. I definitely think Ramos & Popeye are guys Hahn is pushing right now.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
Unless you can get a starter who can help your playoff rotation, I just wouldn’t overspend on a SP. I like both Montas & Mahle, but would only explore a trade built around Crochet and Ramos. No doubt there is a need there given the lack of pitching in the upper minors, but we’re not going to do much in October unless Giolito & Lynn return to form.
