  1. He is a flawed free swinging hitter with elite power who can play CF. If you can’t connect the dots on why that may still be super valuable, then there is no point in debating this further. And you say he can’t adjust, but coming into today his chase rate was the best of his career, his BB rate was the best of his career, and his K rate was the best since 2022. The only thing holding him back right now is a fucked launch angle, which history suggests will revert back to the norm. But hey, keep lumping him in with Eloy Jimenez because that makes all sort of sense.
  2. He’s actually fielding though and can draw walks. That’s more utility than Vaughn will ever offer.
  3. Is the 27 year old CF that had a career 125 wRC+ and averaged 4.75 fWAR per 600 plate appearances prior to last season special for some reason? Probably because he’s a super elite athlete who has a long track record of being highly productive in the majors despite his flaws.
  4. He played outfield in college for at least one season…it’s not remotely like the Vaughn / Sheets situations.
  5. I strongly prefer DePaula or Hope as a centerpiece over Arroyo. Not sure who the second piece would have been in a Reds hypothetical but they would have had to been pretty good for me to pick that deal over the Dodgers one.
  6. Brooks & Chase are just straight up ball players. They are the type of players good organizations have and who typically outperform their physical tools.
  7. Vargas’s swing just doesn’t look like right to me. Feels like he’s off-balanced quite a bit and routinely underneath the ball. As such, the quality of contact has sucked. At least not chasing stuff outside the zone, so there is still some reason to believe he can turn it around, especially as the weather warms up.
  8. Need a miracle run against Crochet and then just need to hold them.
  9. That’s who they have been asking for? Seems like him or Hope would need to be in the trade. Still think that’s an obvious move for the Dodgers to make if the other pieces are minimal (such as Outman).
  10. Lot of ground balls too. He’s looks good out there today.
  11. I have seen enough groundballs to SS from Vaughn to last a lifetime
  12. I agree. Pick a hole for each guy and stick with it. The constant flip flopping will only get messy.
  13. The eventual Robert trade is going to be very telling whether Getz has made real progress in fixing the foundations of the organization. If you believe that Harold has real sources, the Sox are clearly eager to move Robert. That being said, Robert is our last big trade chip and Getz needs to find a way to optimize his value which is certainly suppressed at the moment. But IMO, there are real reasons to believe he’s about to pop. The traditional metrics may look ugly right now, but the underlying peripherals look good. If I’m Getz, I’m holding out for a big rebound from Robert and only trading him early if someone meets my price. Will Getz stand his ground and wait for his price to be met or will he panic and take the first half decent offer? Will be fascinating to find out.
  14. Moving past random Steve Bannon references, Chase Meidroth is currently on a ~16 fWAR pace. What happens if he ends up winning rookie of the year? I know that since he isn’t a top 100 prospect anywhere, we won’t be eligible for draft pick compensation if he wins. However, would we lose a year of service time if this were to happen?
  15. JFC…this is baseball bro, anyone can look like s%*# in two at-bats. At least he’s not chasing sliders outside of the zone.
