  1. It does make sense in that regard, but I’m losing zero sleep not matching that deal.
  2. You do realize that Richards was completely healthy last year right? Maybe finally getting TJS cured his problems?
  3. And within their theoretical $8M budget! So either something is close on Burnes, they got their sights on Richards, or these foodies are full of shit.
  4. What if the Brewers can swing Hader for a young starter like Paddack and then turn around and trade Burnes for Madrigal, Heuer, Stiever, & Kelley? Yes, they’re likely worse in 2021, but ultimately they get immediate replacements for both Hader & Burnes plus a cheap starting 2B (allowing Hiura to be moved to 1B/DH) and two pretty good pitching prospects. For a mid market club in a bit of flux there is some logic to it.
  5. I can’t see them giving up Cease as then you’re still a starter short. And it really does seem like the organization feels Cease is a couple tweaks away from breaking through under Katz. I’d be very reluctant to move while his value is low.
  6. I need sleep and something is going break at midnight tonight...FML
  7. Could be, but they’re all throwing lines in the water for whatever that is worth.
  8. If my Twitter timeline all fucked or is Al’s Beef retweeted a bunch of Burnes videos now?
  9. Portillo’s randomly brought up Springer to the Blue Jays as well
  10. Flash has already claimed that Burnes is the odds on favorite to win NL Cy Young next year, so I’m pretty sure he’s saying Burnes will outperform Giolito next year.
  11. FWIW, Lucas Giolito has the highest Zips projection amongst all starters next year, so saying someone is better than him based on 12 awesome starts is being pretty ambitious.
  12. The way I look at the latter proposal is you’d be giving up a top 50 prospect who is high floor but low ceiling (which is an unusual centerpiece), two SP prospects who could quickly enter the bottom of top 100 lists next year, and and a controllable reliever who has already posted great numbers and has closer potential. To be honest, that’s a lot of talent to give up, even if it’s not an overly sexy package. The challenge is it doesn’t give the Brewers an immediate replacement for Burnes, which means they’d be taking a step back next year and that seems unlikely unless they were to make additional “retooling” type moves.
  13. Theoretically he’s a major league ready starter to replace Burnes. I wouldn’t be shocked if there were teams dying to get their hands on Lopez based on how badly Cooper butchered, but he’d definitely a secondary piece to any trade.
  14. Burnes for Madrigal + Heuer + Lopez + Kelley Who says no? If you say the Brewers, what if you replace Lopez with Stiever?
  15. And that’s a totally fair perspective, but the Brewers aren’t going to give him away for cheap after the season he just had.
