Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Didn’t he literally say he had heard a trade was materializing with the Cubs a few weeks back? -
Amazing article. I posted this in another thread, but it definitely supports the notion of Cease missing glove side with his 4 seamer.

To be fair, I don’t think he’s saying we would do that but rather it’s what smarts teams would do to minimize prospect cost. -

How is Kyle Seager a White Sox move? -
Show me where I said “how dare you question the officers at all”, cause I’m starting to think you lie more than Trump.
-
I agree with this. Clearly there were some cops who were indifferent or worse with these terrorists, but the real problem is the leadership who failed to have the necessary resources in place at an unprecedented level of incompetence at best and at a treasonous level at worst.
-
Do I really need to show you all the videos of a substantial number of cops doing their civic duty and actually fighting these terrorists? Not once did I or anyone else say that all cops did their job on the 6th, but rather I ripped you & Jack for stereotyping ALL cops and saying that ALL of them were complicit in this attack. There is literally a cop who is dead from fighting these fucks and you still can’t help yourself. Go cast blame at those cops who clearly failed and/or betrayed our country like the officers at the west front entrance, the guy who took a selfie, and most importantly the leadership who decided for a limited & unequipped security force, but please stop lumping them all together to feed your political agenda. Your lack of respect for the cops who did their jobs and actually suffered physical harm is appalling.

What starter though? If you’re not signing Bauer, no one fits that narrative. -

We need to add a pitcher so trading Cease for Burnes is net neutral even if you’re getting more certainty of that spot. Plus I’d really like to avoid moving Cease and let him work with a non Don Cooper pitching coach. -

Hard to imagine the Angels won’t be going for it this year no matter what. -

I get what you’re saying, but I think the challenge is the Sox want to use Madrigal as their big trade chip and he’s going to have a very limited market in terms of teams that are willing to both value him as a top 40 prospect and have an opening right now for him. If you find a buyer now, it may be hard to pass up. -

Then I ask the obvious question of “why not make it happen”? Clearly the Reds may not go for it, but if they would, we can add all that and still have a roster right around $140M which sounds like an level Jerry is willing to spend. I’m trying to think of the downside here. Yes, you use lose a dirt cheap Madrigal for the next six years, but we should be able to replace him at a modest cost during this upcoming three year window while buying us some time to find a long-term answer. Yes, you lose five potential years of Heuer, but we do have several interesting relief prospects in Burdi & Johnson plus two other guys who could probably fill into a middle relief immediately in Cordero or Lambert. You also lose one of your best, most advanced starting pitching prospects, but now you’re a legit six deep entering 2021 and hopefully Crochet can factor into the mix starting in 2022 if you don’t resign Lynn (heath permitting of course.) Yes, this trade would be a risk, but it would be a calculated one that potentially sets you up to be the AL team to beat in 2021 and hopefully through 2023. -
I will never understand how Trump has developed this cult like following. A rich, entitled, privileged, arrogant, & stupid New Yorker who cares about no one but himself and his ego is somehow basically a god to people who couldn’t be any different. How this con artist could easily trick so many people into thinking he was this outsider who would “drain the swamp” when in reality he had the self-interest traits you see in many politicians is beyond remarkable. Not sure how you solve that either, because he’s earned the love & admiration of a sizable part of this country despite endless evidence that he is a self/centered douche.

Alright random question time, but let’s say we trade Madrigal, Heuer, & Stiever for Sonny Gray and then sign Hendriks & La Stella or Wong. Are we the team to beat in the AL? Whether you like that trade or not, I think the clear answer is yes. -

If they’re unwilling to sign Bauer, I just don’t see a starter in which significant can be spent on. -

I will say this, I think if any team had offered him four years in this market he’d have jumped on it by now, which means he may be sitting on three year offers from all clubs. No doubt he is far and away the best reliever in this free agent class, but I could easily see a lot of value-conscious teams, especially in this market, seeing the next tier of closers sitting in the 2/$15M to 2/$19M range (Hand, Colome, & Rosenthal) and saying why pay up to 4/$50M for Hendriks. Hell, if you really want to save money and are willing to take some risk you can probably get Yates for like 1/$7M or less. And that’s even accounting for interesting guys like McGee or Bradley. Point is there are a lot of reasonably-priced options out there and I’m starting to struggle seeing Hendriks getting that 4th year. With that said, I’m a sure a four year deal will be announced today...lol. -

And Minasian said his number one goal was to add starting pitching. I just don’t see them moving Bundy under any realistic circumstance. -

Sickening...wish they would charge Trump with manslaughter for inciting the riot, but obviously won’t happen.
