Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
Tanaka is going to get a lot more than $8M per on a multi-year deal, so not exactly a perfect substitute for Richards in the area I’m expecting us to operate in financially.

Who you thinking?

I think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt that now his elbow issues have been addressed that perhaps he can stay heathy to a certain extent. At $8M or so you’re not going to get a sure thing starter with any sort of ceiling. It’s no doubt a roll of the dice, but that’s the range we’re likely playing in and short of a trade I’m not sure which free agent I’d prefer. I’d go after Paxton if Reinsdorf was willing to “splurge”, but I think he gets more than Kluber did and that might cost us a bat like La Stella. I can see the argument for Quintana, but I’d imagine he’s looking for a two year deal and that’s not a commitment I’m willing to make. Would you rather have Chris Archer or Adam Wainwright over Richards? Look, Jerry should just nut up and sign Bauer, but that ain’t happening after the Hendriks signing, so now we must decide whether to trade for someone impactful or sign a guy with question marks in free agency.

$15m and two moves to finish the roster
Would 100% agree then.

$15m and two moves to finish the roster
So do I, but the Sox seem committed to build him up as a future starter out of the bullpen this year.

$15m and two moves to finish the roster
Witch Crochet & Lopez likely to be relievers next year, there really isn’t room for a guy like Yates.

$15m and two moves to finish the roster
I didn’t look at the package, but yes I would agree with that sentiment.

I can’t wait for you all to be disappointed! Pure speculation, but I’m predicting something around 1/$8M being leaked by Sunday.

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
Same here

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
I’m still shocked Adam he got an $7M salary and $8M guaranteed, but I still think $5M would be about right for him. So an overpay, but not a $4M overpay necessarily.

Corey Kluber to Yanks per Passan
That’s too bad but seemed like the most likely outcome

Backup Catcher
Honestly, I think they simply bring someone in on a minor league deal. Give Collins a shot to win the job in the spring and if he fails you have a decent insurance option.

Backup Catcher
Isn’t he god awful defensively at this point? If so, just give Collins a shot.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
Rick must not like those “La Russa is GM” comments.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
Rosenthal confirmed that Hendriks’ contract would count as $18M/year from 2021 to 2023 for luxury tax purposes and potentially zero for 2024 assuming the rules remain the same under the new CBA.

You’d make him the odds on favorite to win the NL Cy Young based on awesome nine starts?

DH Options
I’m not suggesting that Vaughn is punting the position, but rather being ok with Leury at DH for any set of time would be. If the Sox don’t plan to call up Vaughn by May or lack any confidence in his ability to hit from the get-go, then bringing in another bat makes sense. And honestly, signing a guy La Stella to serve as DH placeholder and then as IF depth makes sense to me regardless of how you feel about Vaughn.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
Zero reason this team shouldn’t be at $160M+ in the not too distant future.

NFL Thread 2020-2021
You already touched on Mahomes, but Ryan Tannehill, Josh Allen, & Justin Herbert were all taken in the 6 to 8 range and were the third QB selected in their respective drafts. Point is you can still land a great QB outside of the #1 pick, but you need to keep investing in the position. Hell, Tannehill was a bust with the Dolphins and has found new life with the Titans. Maybe that can be Winston...at a bare minimum, he’s worth a shot over Mitch. Draft a developmental QB in the 2nd or 3rd round and see how things shake out next year. If we use 2021 as a reset year, we could easily end up with a top 10 pick and be in range to select a higher end QB prospect in the 2022 draft. Keeping throw darts until you hit a franchise QB...nothing else really matters until that role is filled IMO.

Sox sign Hendriks: 3/$39M - 4th year optional with $15M buyout
Is it? Did we not max it out prior to Rule 5?
