  1. Yup. And canning Ricky while under contract and in the middle of an economic crisis means we probably some money to play with this offseason.
  2. And yet Rick Hahn, a Major League GM, has decided it did matter enough to fire Ricky despite our first post-season appearance in a dozen years. Context does matter and as we saw down the stretch bad decision making can cost you games quickly when a run or two has a significant impact on your win expectancy.
  3. Why would I laugh at your post? I just don’t know what you’re upset about right now. The Sox fired a manager who was likely going to be a problem at some point and a pitching coach who time has since passed by. No one should upset right now, yet you are going on a tangent about KW & Hahn for some reason. Guess what bud, firing Ricky puts more accountability on the front office as they just burned their get out of jail free card. A rational fan would be ecstatic right now.
  4. I agree but Steve is gonna Stone. He can’t hold back from sharing his opinion.
  5. I’ll have mixed feelings about it just because I think his inability to stop his team from cheating despite “wanting to” is absolute bullshit. That being said, I need to do more research on his actual abilities in the dugout before I make too strong of an option. I’m not against second chances, but blaming Alex Cora for the entire situation is either a lie or signs of a manager who couldn’t control his clubhouse.
  6. A 60 game season and a 162 game season are very much different things. Don’t think there is anything with Stone being honest with opinion, dude does not think very highly of Ricky’s in-game manager skills.
  7. He’s signed through 2024 so not going to happen unless we want to trade for him
  8. Those are some pretty harsh words from Stone, but I generally agree that Ricky would put us at a sizable disadvantage.
  9. We fired Vizquel as our AA manager, no chance he’s in the mix for the major league job.
  10. His xwOBACON dropped from three straight years in the .370 to .380 range to .330. Could be a sample size issue, but that’s pretty alarming at his age.
  11. Brantley just scares me a bit. Declining quality of contact (per StatCast) in his age 33 is a big red flag to me. Don’t get me wrong, Joc would be a risk given how bad his 2020 season was, but he’s 28 years old, was dealing with some personal last year I believe, and was tremendous against RHP in 2018 & 2019. At a small dollar amount I’ll take my chances and look for an upgrade at the deadline if it doesn’t work out.
  12. I’m really not sure Brantley can play a solid RF is the problem, but perhaps I’m wrong. Either guy makes sense theoretically on a one year deal. I’d save my big dollars for pitching whether that comes via free agency or a trade.
  13. How many young arms who come up with curveballs as their best secondary pitch end up abandoning when they join the Sox? That alone should have been a major red flag to Hahn and the player development guys.
  14. Joc makes way too much sense as part of a RF platoon with Engel if you plan to prioritize pitching this offseason. Can probably be had on a 1/$10M deal or less given the current economic environment.
  15. The lack of development is definitely a big reason for the change. Rodon & Lopez are probably lost causes at this point, but there is still time for Cease to recover but a change was vastly needed.
  16. If you’re Rick Hahn and have gotten worst in league production out of RF two years in a row do you go out and give Mazara another major opportunity?
  17. I’m catching up in real-time here, but there is no doubt in my mind that Cooper has been slow to adapt to analytics / modern pitching practices. You can only read so many articles that discuss all the things Zaleski & Teaford are doing in the minors before you realize Cooper is well behind the curve. And most importantly, the lack of development from so many young, talented pitchers simply reaffirms that point. The bullpen management may have cost Ricky his job, but I think Cooper lost his job due to much bigger issues.
