I agree the time for an outside change was a few weeks ago, but I don’t see how you can possibly rock this version of Mazara out in RF come the playoffs. Engel’s glove alone is providing more value than Nomar in his current state. Is Leury’s season completely over or is there a chance he could be ready come the playoffs, because that might actually be an option.

Cause exposing a rookie coming off a poor AA season and who is not a high end talent to an intense pennant race doesn’t seem like a better idea then just adding a plus defender in Engel.

Come game 1 of the playoffs, until then you got to hope it clicks at some point. We literally don’t have another option.

Dyson would literally be the worst hitter in baseball if given the opportunity, at least there is theoretical upside with Mazara. And if you make a change you just go with Engel in RF.

It’s pretty wild how a good chunk of this board was upset about the Mazara acquisition because he was a platoon bat who only was slightly above league average against RHP, while right now we’d all be fucking ecstatic see that guy show up.

Gotcha. And look, I’m not convinced he’s coming back this year, but by adding Stiever to the 40 man roster we could theoretically have to cut someone beyond just McRae. And as we saw with Herrera, the willingness to cut bait on guys in their final year of their deal is there. I’d say that Cishek’s tenure with the team is on very thin ice at the moment.

If he’s healthy, I’d certainly roll the dice on Carlos than Cishek, Flores, & McRae.

His arm may be ready, but he could be rusty and he’ll also be on an innings limit. Why not get him some seasoning at AAA and buy us an extra year of team control?
