  1. It’s really one of the worst takes I’ve seen in Soxtalk history and dude should change his handle to “Cheese&Whine” because that’s all he does.
  2. Let me just say I’m not a fan of going over 110 pitches with Giolito in a meaningless game in a meaningless season. If he does, Ricky should be fired on the spot. Unfortunately Hahn doesn’t actually watch any of our games so that won’t be a possibility.
  3. Demanding a 22 year old be moved to DH in his major league season is though.
  4. I just put on the game and holy fuck is this unbearable. Like I totally get the PR stunt factor, but why not pull this shit during a Nova or Detwiler start instead? Giolito is must watch TV as is...
  5. I bet he gets close to 3/$60M with no draft compensation attached now.
  6. Exactly. IMO, August 1st was the drop dead date and even that was debatable if it made sense. And while Hahn was most definitely spinning in that recent podcast, both Madrigal & Robert have played a ton more baseball this year than ever have and fatigue is probably going to sink in soon. Not sure this is the optimal time to expose them to major league pitching.
  7. 100% agree on Collins. The Sox need to see if he can fill a legit role next year or if he’s going to more of a depth piece.
  8. I believe he’s very analytical and heavy into Trackman data. We definitely need a more modern thinking pitching coach when Cooper calls it quits IMO.
  9. I wouldn’t break up the Jerschele & Zaleski pairing.
  10. Based on what I’ve heard from someone that knows him in Nashville. Obviously that’s speculation on their behalf, but I just can’t see Cooper enduring a full season grind at the age of 67. He already seems to be slowing down IMO.
  11. He’s said this? If so, do you have a link to the quote?
  12. I’m fairly optimistic he’ll retire in the next three or four years, although to your point this is baseball and you just never know.
  13. And Collins at 1B. At least they’re finding ways to get all the interesting guys in the lineup.
  14. I completely agree. Will be interesting and somewhat telling how they handle 1B & DH this offseason.
  15. While I think he’s a bit of a long-shot, I really hope Zaleski eventually gets the job. He seems like the one guy in the organization leveraging Trackman data and actually proactively working with guys to make changes to their arsenal. Lambert & Stiever are just two examples of guys who have made major strides under him. I think him landing the job would be a sign of a slowly modernizing front office. That being said, I worry that Curt Hasler will just be handed the job.
  16. So Don Cooper is 63 years old and has to be getting close to the end of the road. Therefore, I thought it would be interesting to speculate who will be his eventual replacement. I’ve created two polls, one with who you think gets the job and second with who you want to get the job. Vote away!
  17. I now just assume if there are multiple posts in the minor league gamethread before 11am that Bailey drew a walk.
  18. I think they will be a bit more aggressive with Vaughn because so many of the young pieces will already be up and they will be looking to compete next year. They were able to be a bit more patient with Madrigal and Robert to a lesser extent because this was a lost season.
  19. And just so we can all chuckle at Jack’s overreaction a bit more, Vaughn has a wRC+ of 140 at W-S despite a .282 BABIP. He also has more walks than strikeouts.
  20. Maybe it’s a good sign we were most connected to him & Vaughn.
  21. Sorry fathom, but we can’t have two 1B with a Rendon comp and Gavin Sheets already has claim to it!
