We need a new horse in the rotation
I think taking a chance on Oliver Perez would be a huge gamble, but I think we should take a look at the idea for a sec. Paul Lo Duca was on a New York sports show and was talking about how Oliver's mechanic is the key to his succession, and once he has a bad inning, he starts to over think (which is what was going on with Floyd) and completely falls apart, I think if we gave it a shot, I think Peres would work out. my back up plans are to sign Pedro and Sheets, now with Sheets, even though he won't be ready until sometime next season, you sign him but don't guarantee him any money until he proves himself, so when he returns and goes 0-4 with a 12.00 ERA or something, you don't have to give him any money except for the league minimum

ETA: YOUTH MOVEMENT?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 9, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) Some of the White Sox farmhands are going to be dissappointments, but at least they have a lot more that have a shot at being successful now. Rookies generally don't lead teams to championships so there will be some growing pains. I just wonder what slicing $40 million more off the payroll will do to the season ticket base, especially if this year is a tough one, and they don't have playoff ticket money in hand in advance. We'll probably find out next year. (And if that's the plan, watch for the White Sox to hold the line on ticket prices and state how they are doing it for their fans in a rough economy.) I agree

2009 AL Central Thread
I think the Sox have the best chance IMO Twins - are always going to be in it, when they play at the Glad Bag Dome Indians - a .500 team, don't think Lee will repeat and I think the pitching is belove average Royals - Better...but iffy pitching Tigers - Mostly the same pitching that crapped out in 2007 and failed in 2008. I only see Gala and Verlander being good, everyone else is just horrid

What will Anderson have played for Crede?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:43 AM) We always discuss this type thing. He'll get cheered the first time then after that nothing. Nobody will boo the guy unless that person is a drunken buffoon. World Series' come once in a lifetime around here and he helped us get one. Think of how f***ing tough it is to win a World Series especially competing against Boston and NY who spend. Face facts. We may or may not win another one in our lifetimes. Joe helped us win one. He gets cheered once, ignored the rest of his at bats with those f***ing bums. Agreed!
