First Basemen on the F/A Market(none are Boras agents FWIW) Honestly, I think if we get a 2005 Carl Everett like performance out of one of them or whomever our DH is, I'd be fine with it myself. His 2005 line FWIW: .251 BA., 23 HR, 87 RBI, and .311 OBP (Hopefully it would be higher though)

I think Carlos Quentin is are starting RF'er in 2010 because I think Covelli Loyce (aka Coco Crisp) is our LF'er in 2010.

Fields, good riddance. Getz wasn't all that great either IMO. Wheres he going to play? -
Would you trade Hudson and Torres straight up?

Something to consider on the potential trade front.

Some thoughts: - Coco Crisp (leads off & plays switch) - 2 year deal, option for 3rd - Akinori Iwamura (lefty bad in bottom order, plays second exceptionally) -2 or 3 year deal with option - TBD (Left handed bat that drives in runs) LF Crisp - S 3B Beckham - R RF Quentin - R DH Left Handed power bat - L 1B Konerko - R C Pierzynksi - L CF Rios - R 2B Iwamura - L SS Ramirez - R -

We're probably going to end up needing Viciedo in the long run. But our 3-4-5 of the future is probably Quentin, Flowers and Viciedo or something of that combination. -

I can't believe some of you. We finally have a 2005-esq 1-4 rotation and you want to trade that away!?!?! I know its a long shot, but I see Peavy, Danks and Floyd as the next Smoltz, Maddux and Glavine. And as for trading Ramirez, he's young and cheap. Why the hell would we move him? -

I wasn't sure how well he may or not may of performed. I just remember that he was hyped by New York a year or two ago. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) So since it appears the consensus here is that you trade Hudson before Buerhle, and he has more trade value anyways, who are some players we should be targeting to acquire for him? Ideas? Brett Gardner? -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 03:20 AM) I would be very surprised if we picked up an OF who made much of a salary at all. My guess is if we do make a trade, it will be for a young guy with some upside that is still cheap but for whatever reason his current organization is down on him. I'll bet Kenny has tasked his scouts with finding the next Carlos Quentin. I could see Conor Jackson making his way over. Not really a power guy, but has a high OBP, and his three consecutive in ARZ when he was healthy his line was: .292 BA, .371 OBP, averaged 14 home runs, 71 rbi and 4 stolen bases. Can play LF and 1B.

18 million coming off after 2010 if we don't resign Pauly or AJ. Anyone else thinking Prince Fielder?
-
It'll get shot down like everywhere else I've posted it, but why not Juan Pierre? He's LA's 4th OF, I'm sure he wouldn't be too hard to acquire, he does have a hefty contract though. 2009 Line: Games: 145 Average .308 OBP: .365 Stolen Bases: 30/42 (Wish it was higher)

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) This is by far the best post in this thread. I love how it got no responses because it insulted the masses. I'm with you on this one dude. This pitching staff is too special to not spend 100 Million. If we overspend and field the correct team, the attendence spike when we start 35-10 will surely pay for these players. And it starts with Bobby in the back.

Young, Studly, Under Team Control Outfielders

Abreu would be a good gapper until one of the kids is ready. -
HMM, Whom would I want to ace my staff for 5 years? Verlander, a very talented young man mind you or Jake Peavy, the Cy Young, All star, a recent pitching triple crown pitcher. I wonder......
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) Abreu would be a nice add to the team. Very well-rounded player, i'd be happy to have him here. Agreed.
-
Beckham should win because he's out there every day. All the pitchers go out there a few times a week. If Beckham doesn't win the the ROY then its all a sham.
-
The only starts I exepct back are Rios, Quentin, Ramirez, Beckham, Konerko and AJ. I truly hope Getz or Nix are not starters in 2010. So we have a C, 1B, 2B (If the Sox are smart enough to move Beckham there that is) SS, CF and RF (Again, if the Sox are smart enough to move him to his natural position). That leaves RF, and 3B. I don't include DH because I've read/hurd/imagined that the DH will rotate among the position players to give them days off. I don't really think it would be that hard to get either a RF and 3B via trade or free agency. In LF I wouldn't mind Abreu, know I know KW doesn't want to spend a whole lot but the Angels gave him what, 1 Million? Sure his defense isn't the greatest, but considering Rios is great in CF and has a lot of range that's probably going to give whomever plays the corners less range to work with. For third (I posted this in another thread) would be Iwamura, let him play third lead-off (which we would also need) and let Abreu hit clean up after TCQ. I don't think the F/A class is as bad at KW says IMO.
-
Honestly, I think Iwamura would be a great pick up, he can play 3B (Move Bacon to 2B) And lead-off. I would think he could come cheap, but what do I know.
-
Just because Swish is playing better in New York doesn't mean he'd do better here. He'd face different pitchers, be in different atmospheres, different circumstances, etc. I'm glad he's gone, him and his .230 average, taking strike three and swinging at ball four ass is gone.

Will KW continue to remake us into a speedier team?
