  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 11:24 AM) I'd have to think its Gobble, especially since he's the 3rd lefty (and he's been pretty bad). There's still Wes Whisler.
  2. Anyone know who has been reassigned to make room for Contreras?
  3. Konerko is a funny guy. I heard him say once when asked about his lack of speed "I was always pretty slow. I started playing baseball when I was 5. By the time I got to on the field I was 12."
  4. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) So why would he make that promise to one of the worst players in our organization and not to the guy/guys who actually deserves it? This makes ZERO sense. Not if you take into account that the endpoint is next week. Anderson had that opportunity also. Ozzie doesn't believe Anderson can help the team as an every day player. He may be right, even if most of us think Anderson is the best chioce considering the options. The fans are starting to give Anderson the messiah treatment a la Crede and Rowand. Mind you - I think Ozzie is making a mistake here - but he's not a horrible manager because he doesn't agree with a bunch of fanatics like us. We are not experts - at best we are informed observers.
  5. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) I'm not so sure about that. Ozzie sees Javy sucks when it counts, so Javy is off the team. Ozzie hates Swisher's attitude, so he's gone. Ozzie see Boone Logan, Mike MacDougal, etc. all sucking ass so they are gone. Ozzie sees Jerry Owens and DeWayne Wise sucking so he gives them more playing time. Something doesn't quite fit. I can't figure out why Ozzie is playing Wise over Anderson but I agree that the conspiracy theory doesn't make any sense. Ozzie's doghouse is cleaned out every off-season - even if the Sox are on the losing end of a trade or letting someone walk. Ozzie absolutely hated Cabrera but Cabrera played every day because it gave the Sox the best chance to win. Here's a thoguht. Ozzie made a promise to Wise that he would get a fair opportunity. Wise was starting to hit right before hje seperated his shoulder. Maybe Ozzie just want to make good on his word and give him every opportunity to succeed/fail. He knows the endpoint is when Quentin returns. I'm guessing this is Wise's last hurrah.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) Lineup prediction Pods 7 Ramirez 6 Dye 9 Konerko DH Anderson 8 Castro 2 Fields 5 Betemit 3 Nix 4 Man I hope Ozzie doesn't play Betemit tonight. But you're probably right with the lefty going and he said he would rest Thome more this year. Can't wait until Quentin is healthy as he will DH on Thome's nights off.
  7. QUOTE (LZPride08 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) The Swisher Trade Trading for him or trading him away? If it's the former then I agree.
  8. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) Colon seems to go good, bad, good, bad..so I hope he breaks that funk today and his fatness overpowers the ML debut tonight!!! Hopefully the magnitude of his badness in the 20-1 game covers a few of his customary bad starts.
  9. I loved Jenks' reaction when they scored the 6th run making it a non save situation. Also, the Cabrera strikeout with the bases loaded in the 8th was poetic.
  10. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 11:53 PM) He went from being a talented hitter who couldnt hit in the clutch, to perhaps now a less able guy who can. When did this really start up? Game 163? There's no such thing as clutch. If he was bad in the clutch for the last 17 years, law of averages says he will be good in thte clutch for the next 17 years
  11. Anyone else want to eat crow and admit Ozzie was right about not putting too much pressure on Getz and Fields? Originally he had no intention of batting them 1 and 2, but acquiesced. They were hot to start but then regressed. They moved down in the lineup and now they are coming along.
  12. Weaver dominates us so bad that even his less talented brother beats us.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) Is Sabean that bad of a GM? San Fran was a very competitive team for a long time and while they are in a rebuilding mode right now, they already have two front of the rotation young guns (Linnecum and Cain) but they have a couple stud guys down in AA (the two youngest AA pitchers). Those young guys allow them to move Cain but I wont' lie, it doesn't make sense for San Fran unless they get a franchise type of bat. He is much maligned for the Zito and Rowand contracts. Not to mention the Liriano/Nathan/Bonser for AJ trade.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 27, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Exactly what I was saying. Sabean would be ran out of town if he ever did that. Probably out of the country. If there was a GM that would do it, it would be Sabean.
  15. How about Alexei with 3 BBs and a hit? That might be the most remarkable. The GIDP he had was hit hard so it was just bad luck. Thome also hit the ball really hard and GIDP'd.
  16. One thing that has gotten lost in the boxscore is that even with Danks struggling, Sox pitching only allowed 1 hit after the first inning.
  17. We have won 3 games since Buehrle's last start.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:21 PM) For those of us that did not get to see the game...I saw Alexei hit a homer tonight. Did he have some good ab's? How about Q? We need these two guys to come around if we are going to win anything this year. Looks like Alexei may be coming on at a similar point as he did last season. Now what's the story with Q? Alexei has killer ab's. Classic 6-pack. TCQ needs to do some sit ups.
  19. I would give Getz a little more rope than Fields - he's not nearly as overmatched as Fields is right now and he has played very good D.
  20. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 19, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) Not too mention Thome looks finished with his .867 OPS like some posters have mentioned on this board. .894 - but who's counting?
  21. Yesterday you could clearly her 1 guy talking trash to Thome - "You'll never win a world series Thome"
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 13, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Why is it Ozzie says "give me good at bats, you'll be in the line-up" and we have to look at Brent Lillibridge day after day after day........................................ I have as many RBI as he does in 63 less AB. Lillibridge is in the lineup because TCQ, Anderson and Wise are injured. It's not like he is a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) Really disagree with benching Thome, unless he's injured from running the bases last night. It should be fun watching Fields and Lillibridge attempt to hit Cliff Lee's high fastball. Throw a no-hitter Buehrle. I know - but Thome could barely limp around the bases last night. PK was thinking what the heck do I have to do to get an RBI? Even Jim's HR trot was noticeably slower than normal.
  24. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) SOX Nix 2b Podsednik lf Dye rf Konerko 1b Pierzynski c Fields 3b Betemit dh Ramirez ss Lillibridge cf Buehrle p CLEVELAND Sizemore cf Cabrera 2b V. Martinez 2b Choo rf Peralta ss Garko dh Carroll 3b LaPorta lf Shoppach c Lee p Yikes! Hope Mark brings his A game.
  25. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 11, 2009 -> 12:31 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2133168.story He'll probably get fined for this. He went on to say that he wasn't going to hit him and put a baserunner on in a one run game. So in short, Jenks may be become the first pitcher to be diciplined for intentionally not throwing at a hitter.
