  1. Seriously, if you go position by position the Sox are the sttrongest in the Central. I know it doesn't work that way and that those scrappy Twins always figure it out, but I don't see why anyone would think we have more holes than the other contenders. If we get in the playoffs, there's no telling what will happen (see Giants vs Rangers).
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) What the organization would do and what we would do is likely pretty different. Unless the team falls flat on its face, I don't see them trading him to replace him with Flowers. They've shown that they can be taken at their word, and I'd imagine with AJ taking a pay cut, that he was led to believe that he'd be on the team through the end of his contract. I also don't know how much other teams would pay for AJ with his reputation. Pierzynski had a deal with the Dodgers before the Sox swooped in. I don't know how much but at least we know he is marketable.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) Jackson vs King Felix Milledge LF, Beckham 2B, Dunn 1B, Ramirez DH, Teahen RF, Castro C, Morel 3B, Vizquel SS, Lillibridge CF The Milibridge battle rages on.
  4. QUOTE (djcollie03 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) AJ does have a Weebles wobble but, they don't fall down look about him. I hope that AJ has a basketball under his shirt. Because if he doesn't he is a fat tub of goo.
  5. Because the question is the best player, I eliminated all of the 1-dimensional players and pitchers, which left Alexei, AJ amd Alex. AJ is too slow and can't hit much anymore and some aspects of his defense is meh. So, I went with Rios - better hitter and base runner than Alexei. Both are great defensively and play key defensive positions. Alexei is a close second.
  6. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) If whatever the guy was doing was so bad, why didn't someone sitting close to him call for security? Why did Oney's "girlfriend" have to come from all the way across the room and confront him? Then, whatever the kid said to her, did it warrant a physical attack? Why couldn't she just call security if whatever he said to her was so offensive? And given that the girl walked across the room to assault a heckler at a roast, wasn't she also acting like an Ahole and didn't she "have it coming"?? It happened very quickly and the guy was escorted out. He was swearing and waving his arms like an idiot. He called the girl a ho (using a different word). Personally I thought she was ridiculous for confronting the guy over worthless Oney, but no I wouldn't say she "had it coming".
  7. The guy had it coming and was acting like an ahole.
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) A poster on WSI says he was there sitting right next to the kid who got slapped. Here's how he described it: "I sat right next to the kid that got slapped by Oney's skank and tossed out for doing almost nothing." So we have a descrepancy as to how bad whatever the heckler said was. But there's no disputing the facts that a guy was heckling Oney at a roast when Oney's girlfriend went out of her way to walk across the room and confront, then slap the guy. Then he gets thrown out but apparently not her. Oney then tweets in what I guess was supposed to be a threat that he's waiting outside for anyone that had the audacity to boo him at a roast. Then apparently Ozzie, instead of ignoring the incident uses the microphone to curse at the heckler then call him a "Southsider" in a derogatory manner. It wouldn't be too big a deal if this was an isolated incident but it's just one more time that Oney/Ozzie have been involved in a public display of poor behavior.
  9. I was there - it happened right in front of me. The guy was a jerk. He said something disgusting to the girl and she justifiably slapped him. It was over in an instant and I didn't hear Ozzie say anything objectionable. That said - Oney is an embarrassment. If a guy said to me what the jerk said to Oney's girlfriend, my husband would have hit him, very hard.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) Cowley style somewhat tasteless joke but I don't see how this confirms anything. Pretty sure Colwey found out about it from Oney like the rest of us. Maybe, but the guy is such a worm. I hate that smarmy, arrogant style.
  11. He tweeted - @cst_Cowley cst_Cowley This just in: add Arizona clubby to the world's most dangerous jobs list.
  12. What about Cowley? He is truly unprofessional. He pretty much confirmed the clubby story in a cowardly way.
  13. Oney's a spoiled brat but this is golden.
  14. The comment about playing for a manager that knows how to handle a bullpen is going to be the one Bobby regrets. He should know not to make an enemy of Ozzie. And he got way more chances here thn he will be granted in Boston.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) look forward to some day seeing a Paul Konerko statue outside the cell. Look forward to seeing the actual Konerko in a Sox uniform next year.
  16. I am now 90% convinced that the whole KW/Ozzie fued was staged for this series. Who better to leak the story to than Cowley who completely overreacted just like a pawn in their game?
  17. QUOTE (guapotaco @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) I liked it when they punked Randy Williams I didn't think Randy Williams was punk'd - He was Michael Scott'd.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) I'd be surprised if today was a 3 hour slugfest. I'm thinking more like 3-1 in 2:10. A slugfest would be highly unlikely given that lineup - but they have been surprising me lately. BTW, Adam Dunn would be great, but at this point anyone is an upgrade over the ridiculous Kotsay/Jones situation.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Ozzie's kids certainly aren't the brightest group. Well, OneyRoberto is really stupid. But Ozzie Jr and Ozney haven't done anything that I'm aware of to warrant that tag.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) There's 2 reasons Andruw Jones is still around....399 and 400 While I know that won't sell tickets, Guillen definitely has a loyalty to Jones from his Atlanta days so I can believe that this factors in. OneyRoberto is always tweeting about how his family is out to dinner with Jones. He even got all puffy chested in April about how well Jones was doing - "See Ozzie knows what he's doing!"
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/2010/06...r_a_bit_an.html I know you all will enjoy this one. That's what he's supposed to say.
  22. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 12:58 AM) Great game. Everything went our way. We hit, ran, pitched and defended well. I'm glad to see the offense carry over from the Braves series and I hope that this is going to set the trend for the season. However, it was just the AAA Cleveland Indians. Every year there are Indian apologists - people who think Shapiro is some kind of SABR genius even though he couldn't win when he had Lee, Sabathia, Hafner, and Sizemore in their prime. This is why he won GM of the year in 05. Rob Neyer believes the ALC shakes out like this AL CENTRAL 1. Twins - 85 2. Indians - 81 3. White Sox - 77 4. Tigers - 76 5. Royals - 72 The Twins would have been big favorites if they hadn't lost Joe Nathan. Now they're just favorites. And yes, the Indians went 67-95 last year. But somebody has to be this year's big surprise, right? Fausto Carmona, Travis Hafner and Grady Sizemore all played exceptionally well in spring training. The Indians have a new manager. I'm just saying, don't be shocked if they do something amazing.
  23. QUOTE (striker @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview10/ne...e=10expertpicks But nothing more than winning the division. If we get in it probably means our pitching is very good which bodes well for post season success.
  24. QUOTE (balfanman @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) I would really like to agree with this, but I just don't think that he (or anyone else for that matter) has a chance until "Jeetah" retires. Well, ok. But regardless of whether he actually wins the award, I think he will become a great defensive SS.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) Carlos Quentin joins the 50/50 club. HR and HBP. Alexei Ramirez wins a GG. Has anyone noticed that he is playing great defense this spring?
