KC really embraced Ned Yost last season. He use to be so short and sour and defiant in interviews, that's why he was so highly criticized, coupled with his track record. Johnny Cueto definitely deserves to be criticized for how he's pitched in a Royal uniform, but if Game 2 was his last in KC he'll be remembered fondly by most and the trade will have been worth it.

Their bullpen is solid but questionable and somewhat unproven. Their offense is hot but has relied heavily on Murphy and Cespedes. Both are due to cool off at any point. And that sane offense before Cespedes, YUCK. I'm not familiar with the Mets defense, but I doubt it's anywhere as close as good as the Royals.

Royals playing a day/night doubleheader against the Tigers. Won Game 1, 2-1 in Detroit. Still 7.5 back in the Central, 5 back in the Wild Card. The Royals are 6-1 in their last 7 games against Verlander, and Billy Ray Butler is now 27-for-62 (.435) lifetime against him.

Pitchers' duel tonight? Frenchy in the lineup. F---. Dunn/Viciedo/Ramirez are a combined 6 for 67 (.089) against a Guthrie. I keep expecting him to have a start where he looks like Jeremy Guthrie, but it just hasn't happened yet. I'm pretty sure he's given up the most homers in baseball though.

Very pleased to take the series from the Tigers. Even though May was awful, and the record could and should be better, it's hard to be really disappointed in 30-33. As a Royals fan. The numbers say the offense hasn't improved a lot since Brett became hitting coach, but the situational hitting has been much better. The starting pitching and bullpen have been stellar in that span as well. Onto Tampa for 4, we always play like s*** in Tampa..

Oh definitely, I'm just not looking that far ahead, I'm a Royals fan. We're usually 10-15 games under. 500 at this point in the season.

Royals now 29-32, winners of 6 straight and tied with Cleveland for 2nd place, at 5.5 games back. A week ago the Royals were in dead last and 6.5 games back. I think June will be make or break for KC, they are 7-2 so far, with this schedule coming up... 2 v. Detroit (Wade Davis v. Scherzer, Shields v. Verlander) 4 @ Tampa 3 @ Cleveland 3 v. White Sox 2 v. Atlanta 4 @ Minnesota

I'm not really sure where to even start, so please, if you take the time to read what I post below, try to understand my rambling. I've been a Royals fan my entire life. I was born in September of 1985. Less than two months later, they won their one and only World Series. They haven't even made the playoffs since. My earliest Royals memories are of George Brett, Bo Jackson, Frank White, David Cone, Bret Saberhagen, etc. My teen years had Carlos Beltran, Jermaine Dye, Mike Sweeney, Johnny Damon, etc. Last off-season, for the first time in my life, the Royals made moves to IMPROVE the team. They went out and got James Shields, a bonafide #1 starter who isn't past his prime. They took on Ervin Santana and his $13 million dollar salary, and although he's no star, he is a legit MLB starter with a pretty good track record. They took a chance on Jeremy Guthrie, who again, is no star, but is a legit MLB starter with a pretty decent track record. The line-up is loaded with former top Draft picks. Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas. Not to mention former top prospects like Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, and Salvador Perez. This season was legitimately hopeful for the first time since probably 1994. I thought they had a real chance to compete for the Division. Did I expect them to win the Division? No, not really. I did expect some meaningful July/August/September baseball. Boy do I sure feel like an idiot for letting the Royals make me think way, I know better than that. I have supported General Manager Dayton Moore longer than most. Is it time for him to go? Probably. I have never liked Ned Yost. He's an arrogant, flippant, sarcastic bastard who has done nothing to earn the right to be that way. Major changes must be made. The talent is there, and pretty much every baseball "expert" would say the same. The talent is not producing and they're not progressing. They're regressing. You don't "blow up" a team full of 23-27 year olds, so you get rid of the people you can outright fire, the Manager and General Manager, Coaches, Trainers, everybody. I'm pretty diehard, I watch pretty much every game 1 thru 9. That really just makes it worse I guess. It's getting more and more difficult to justify my passion each year, hell, each day. f***.

Then you have all of Ned Hosts bonehead mistakes. Such as batting Getz leadoff, batting Escobar in the #2 spot for much of the season. Bringing Luke Hochevar into tied ball games, and/or wumith runners on, pulling Shields too early from several starts when he was cruising. I think Yosts' fate is tied directly with Dayton Moore's, and another s***ty season should get them both canned.

Hosmer really struggled last year. Ross Gloss never put together a season like Hosmer did in 2011. I remember Gload as one of my least favorite Royals ever. I'm not that worried about Hosmer though, he's shown the ability but not the consistency. He's still only 23, Gload was 24 when he made his debut.

Jeremy Guthrie continues his dominance as a Royal. They are now unbeaten in his last 18 starts. He's now 5-0 in 7 starts this season, with 6 of them being "quality starts". Royals begin a 3-game series with the Yankees tonight. Hosmer, Moustakas, and Perez have all been starting to hit.
