  1. Perhaps the Jays have chilled out on the sign stealing, eh?
  2. Bruce Chen dominating Toronto. 7 IP, 4 hits, 3 runs, 9 K, 0 walks. 82 pitches.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) Chiefs rookie WR Jon Baldwin fractures his hand on Thomas Jones's jaw. That "article" says no such thing. Word around here is that Jones was putting Baldwin in his place. The previous day Baldwin picked a fight with Jamaal Charles. He's been as advertised, mouthy, cocky, and difficult to work with. Hopefully he'll fall in line like Dwayne Bowe did...
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) When you look at his numbers, there's nothing a priori unsustainable about them, .310 BABIP, for example. And he was always viewed to be a very talented guy. But there's still the Atlanta years to contend with, it just took a drop to a .275 BABIP to make him a non-tendered guy. An argument could be made that he's having a career number. Obviously he hasn't come close to the 29 HR he hit in '06, but nearly everything else looks good. Don't even get me started on his arm, anybody that runs on him is an idiot. Period.
  5. Good move by the Royals' FO. He's played well this year. He's not really blocking anybody in our system, so why not? He's a high character guy, his teammates love him, the fans love him, and it's not a ridiculous amount of money. Plus the guy is only still 27.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) Sweep KC, and win 2 out of 3 against the other 2. 3 for 8 this season.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) It is always a good thing when detroit has a team you can hate Let's not forget the recently released Brandon Inge as well.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 12:59 PM) Rebuilding Royals Release Kyle Davies When you're 1-9 with an ERA over 6.75, you probably shouldn't be getting smashed drunk during a road trip. He was arrested in St. Petersburg (Tampa) on Monday for "Disorderly Intoxication" and then released by the Royals on Wednesday... http://www.pcsoweb.com/InmateBooking/Subje...aspx?id=1465885
  9. So Melky, Francoeur, Francis, Chen, and Davies all remain Royals. For once I'm actuallty okay with the team not moving filler types. Melky continues to hit very, very well while providing good enough defense and an excellent arm in center. Francouer is not hitting as well (still good for him) but has provided borderline great defense and an even better arm than Cabrera. Alex Gordon is finally living up to his promise, and again has provided great defense and arm in the outfield. The Royals have thrown out 20 runners at home this season. Here's a good read on the Royals' outfielders... http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php...fantasy-season/ We did deal Mike Aviles to the Red Sox for infielder/outfielder Yamaico Navarro and reliever Kendal Volz. Great trade, IMO.
  10. Melky's struggles appear to have been his own fault. He was out of shape and overweight the last few years. This past off-season he moved to Miami and worked out with A-Rod...
  11. The Indians walk Alex Gordon to load the bases for Melky Cabrera. Melky drills the next pitch to deep, deep right center for a grand slam. The next pitch goes over Billy Butler's head. Carlos Carrasco was ejected and both benches cleared. Royals up 7-0 in the 4th...
  12. Crazy night in Boston. After a 2 hour and 21 minute rain delay, the Royals and Red Sox played 14 innings, ending just minutes ago. Kyle Davies went 6 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and got 6 strikeouts. Soria struck out the side in the bottom of the 14th, Royals win 3-1.
  13. Oh that's right. I saw the at-bat but stopped watching shortly after, thanks.
  14. I, like many Royals' fans, am taking tonight's game off. People in KC have grown really, really tired of Davies. We've got a 6 man rotation for some reason, probably the same reason Davies is still on the roster. That said, I'm sure he'll pitch well tonight, well enough to give our front office a reason to continue to run him out there every 5 (6) days. FML.
  15. Hosmer has 9 homers this season. 5 of them have come in the 7th inning or later. 5 of them have also come when the Royals were tied or down by 1. Clutch.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) Soria has really been shaky this season. Apparently, the Mo Rivera cutter he was trying to add to his repertoire didn't take. Say what? Soria's cutter had been his meal ticket until his struggles this season. It's not a pitch he tried to add, it's a pitch he relied on too much...
  17. I just read both Keith Law's and BaseballAmerica's mid-season Top 50 Prospects list, and didn't see a single White Sox player. Is your guys' system really that bare...?
  18. I'm still hoping Alex Gordon will get into the ASG, he's having a really nice season...
  19. Adam Dunn is doing the best Mike Jacobs impression I've ever seen...
  20. The rotation has nothing to do with Super Two. The arms we have just aren't ready. Duffy is learning on the fly, and we lost John Lamb to Tommy John Surgery. Mike Montgomery is having his up's and down's in Triple A. Jake Odorizzi was dominating high-A ball and was just promoted to Double-A. Bruce Chen went 12-7 with a 4.17 ERA for us last year. He's been hurt this year, but he's still pitched well. Paulino has also pitched well for us. Davies is just plain terrible and Francis is a filler...
  21. Entering Monday night's game in San Diego, 42 of the Royals' 78 games (54 percent) had been decided by two runs or fewer. They were 15-14 in one-run games, 3-10 in two-run games.
