  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) Liriano getting lit up for the third start in a row. His FB has been off 2-4 MPH so far from last year's consistent 94. ERA hovering around 9.00 and a return to struggled with command again, as well. 5-1 Royals in the top of the 4th. Of course, in years past, 85% of the time the Royals would blow those leads to the Twins the last decade. He threw well for 3 innings, then in the 4th we got him for 8 hits (7 singles) and 6 runs. He was pitching well, we were just hitting some good pitches...
  2. I'm too smart to buy into this Royals' squad being legit, but they sure are playing like a completely different ballclub. I know we're only 9 games in, but they still look like the same club they did all Spring. This actually cares about winning, and you can tell...
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) The Sox don't face the Royals now for the next 81 games. See ya July 4th, pesky bastards. That just seems crazy... QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) They'll be on their usual pace to lose 95 games by then. You can't outrun the talent you have on the team. You just cant'...especially in a 162 game season. I'm inclined to agree with you... QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) anyone know what their plan is with their top prospects? Are they planning on bringing them up when the certain arb deadline hits, usually in June sometime if memory serves me right? By July 4th they could have a lot of talent on the team, maybe not ready to win consistently on the MLB level, but certainly a lot of talent. At this point, the Royals could start all their reserves for a series and they'll give the Sox a run for the money, they just seem to be "that team" against them. Word is that we won't see any of them (barring injury) before June. Mike Aviles has looked terrible this year at 3rd, if he doesn't get it together he'll be splitting time with Getz and Mike Moustakas will get a shot at 3rd. Eric Hosmer is likely to be up around the same time, depends on how Kila and Butler do between now and then. If they are both hitting well, rumor is he could be moved to the outfield (right), so that may keep him down a bit longer. As far as our pitching, Mike Montgomery and Danny Duffy are believed to be ready to go now. I believe it's most likely an issue of manipulating service time with them (and others), and there's just really no need to rush them. I imagine they'll be kept down until at least June (again, barring injury). Things probably won't get real interesting with call-ups until some trades are made near the deadline, and with roster expansion Sept. 1st. Ideal situation would be to have Aviles get his s*** together, move him back to 2nd, have Getz come off the bench, start Moustakas at 3rd. Move Melky and Frenchy (assuming they have value) and bring up David Lough/Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer to take over in the outfield. Pitching moves depends on who has a s***ty season first/injury/trade(s)...
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) I wonder would a team like the Braves be interested in Rios if we ate some cash? Not now. But Rios just doesn't seem like his production will ever match his talent (and his contract). They call them "Ricciardi's"...
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) You guys were touched by an angel when Gil Meche decided to retire. He's a better man than I am. No way in hell I'm leaving $12M on the table, I don't care how much money I'd have in the bank...
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) I saw Bob Hamelin beat the Sox one time in the ninth. God I was so mad that night in the K. We led 3-0 the whole f***ing game and it all imploded in the ninth. I'm not going to lie, The Hammer was my absolute favorite Royal at one time, but I was 8-9 years old...
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) They've got to stop with all the horrible FA signings, though. I was pleased with the lack of them this off-season...
  8. I wasn't aware they brought Bob Hamelin back to shag foul balls down the left field line...
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) What pick do they have in this upcoming draft? #5
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) Jeffress is sick. I sent him some nug on Monday.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) The Royals definitely have horseshoes up their collective asses. Yes they do!
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Teahen signed an extension after the trade. Well that's just dumb.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) He means the extension that was immediately given to Teahen for doing nothing yet, and not doing anything since. Wat?
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) What a f***ing moron KW is for signing Teahen. Chris Getz and Josh Fields, for Mark Teahen and cash. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) Man it's too bad because Teahen seems like a really nice guy and if it was at all possible for me to feel sorry for multi-millionaires, I would definitely feel sorry for him. Yeah I feel bad for him. He's a really good guy, I wish him well...
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Butler's only problem offensively is he doesn't hit for enough power. He's been a good hitter for a couple years now. Gordon looks like he finally might be figuring it out. He is, after all, only 27. A little scary considering the pending arrivals of Montgomery, Hosmer, Myers, ect. The size of our park certainly hasn't helped him, neither has the open outfield. It will be interesting to see what happens if both Kila and Billy are hitting/playing well if Hosmer continues to rake... QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Nah, not a dick move. It's all in good fun. And I'm with ya, I've been banned from a Sox site probably 3 times now before I came back here. lol. I also used to tour other team's gamethreads, but a lot of people don't like outsiders and god forbid they lose while I am there, they throw a s***fest about it. I've also been banned from WSI, man those dudes over there are a bunch of Nazi's. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) I certainly don't mind it! Good to have you around. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Nah, you can by the background of the picture that they are all at the games. All 8000 of them. BURN!!! QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Teahen will save us! I'm not going to lie, I thought he was going to go opposite field there, like the old days in KC...
  16. QUOTE (peanut33tillman @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Cool pic, and you'll still likely finish 4th or 5th in the division like EVERY YEAR so dont get too excited over 6 games of your season big guy. I won't.
  17. It was a dick move, but I couldn't resist. I don't get the opportunity to gloat much, so I've got to capitalize! I got banned a while back from RoyalBoard, it's the only decent Royals' forum that I know of...
  18. I'm glad Castro is alright, he took a pretty good whack...
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) That was 4 years ago. He's done nothing since (mostly due to injuries). And his stuff is pretty mediocre. Wouldn't kill you as a 5th starter. But that's about it. Think left-handed Freddy Garcia. Right, I'm not saying he's good, but he's not terrible. He was well above average before shoulder/arm trouble... QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) and he's on the royals.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) I sure don't miss Wille Bloomquist Me either! QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) they may be a hit in April but reality will settle in. I agree, thankfully June and some call-ups won't be far behind... QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Is Pods in the majors this year? Blue Jays I believe. I don't understand why everyone thinks Jeff Francis is terrible. He won 17 games for the Rockies, and his career numbers aren't far off from Gavin Floyd's...
  21. Either way it better be a good game, I took the day off for it...
