QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Huge crowd of 12,000 on hand for this competitive game. I'm pretty disappointed in attendance so far, but I can't really blame people for not showing up... -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) Ordonez used to destroy Durbin on KC Just about everybody destroyed Durbin while he was in KC, dude was 11-22 with a 6.01 ERA. But yeah, Maggs loves facing the Roils... -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Konerko by 19 feet. 437. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Trib beat writer says Konerkos was 437, Gordon's 418. Not sure how official that is Thanks guys! QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) My prediction: We will see Humber sooner than later today. I didn't realize he was with you guys now, hard to believe he was at one point the centerpiece of a trade for Johan Santana... -

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) I don't like the behind the pitcher camera angle. Was it like this last year in KC? QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) Whats with this camera angle? The wind so far this year has caused water from the fountains to shower the cameras, so they moved them over a bit. And I agree, it sucks... -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) On the road with an apparently bad pitching matchup... I'll be fine with a 1-1 split this series, but a win tonight and I think a sweep is likely. By the way, still love that avy. That swing is like a hitting clinic in one little gif. I like to remind people that it was #3,000 too, pretty slick swing for a 40 year-old man! And I agree, we've got to win tonight to avoid a sweep... -

I'm excited for the Sox to come to town, I just don't want my boys to get swept. We've pounded Gavin Floyd (3-7, 4.79 ERA in 11 starts/1-4, 6.26 in 6 starts @ Kauffman) pretty well in the past, but of course there's been a lot of turnover in our line-up. Hochevar has pitched well against the Sox (3-3, 3.65 ERA in 7 starts, including his only career shutout) but you never know what he's going to give you... -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) Well I think they're going to win both of them so we have all grounds covered (unless someone is VERY sure that one or both of the games will be rained out). In case you were wondering, the Royals pitching is really, really bad. Bad on paper, of course. The wind was a huge factor in the Angels' series, for both teams. It's windy as hell today too... QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) KC is a much more rounded out team this year... a bit under the radar. They could easily be .500. I wish I were that optimistic! I do think we'll be better than Cleveland though. Greinke very candid about frustration with Royals

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) I'll tell you what, I have no idea why teams like the Royals don't stock up on veteran relievers in the offseason, even if they have to overpay a little. As long as the deals are for one year, these guys are easy to move at the deadline and if they're performing well, can give you quite a haul. The Pirates' signing of Octavio Dotel is a perfect example. He has tried. Farnsworth, Cruz, Mahay, David Riske, Ramon Ramirez, and even Dotel. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) They tried and they failed. Kyle Farnsworth, Juan Cruz, etc... Farnsworth was terrible last year, but Moore got a nice return for him this year. Can't blame him Cruz, a lot of teams wanted him. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) They've been saying this for a decade. No "they" haven't. When Moore took over, there was almost nobody worth mentioning in our system. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) The other issue on that list is that he's also blocking other guys, like NSS's favorite Kila and in the future, Hosmer. It's widely believed Hosmer will be moved to the OF. And Butler isn't blocking Kila, Jose Guillen is. Kila isn't much better (if any) with the glove... Also, Ned Yost said Betemit will be the 3rd basemen here on out (assuming he isn't traded)...

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) I don't like Butler at all. He's a doubles machine and sports a nice OBP. But he's got pathetic overall pop for a player his size/position. I won't even get into his defense. Home runs are down, sure, and so are his strikeouts. Hits, doubles, AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS are up. What's really weird, is the drop off between his home and road splits, I don't understand that one at all. Defensively, he's no Gold Glover. He has improved drastically though, definitely average at worst at this point. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Are you kidding? Sure, he's not quite Albert Pujols yet, but he's going to be an absolutely outstanding hitter for like the next 15 years. I'm not sure if he's even 24 yet... Most scouts and "people in the know" agree with you, completely. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 11:46 PM) I honestly thought it would finally open the 3B spot up for Gordon. Ah well. Alex Gordon has been playing outfield ever since he was sent down, with Moustakas on the way, I'd say he's going to be out there indefinitely.

X-rays were negative, it's a sprained thumb. They did say he's out for the rest of the Yankees' series though...

What this really means is that we'll get to see more Chris Getz. Ned Yost said "Getzy is BIG in my plans", whatever that means. As far as the trade, I'm not excited or disappointed really. Pitching is definitely this teams (Royals) weakness, and Callaspo butchered 2nd last year and hit well, but has been solid or better at 3rd this year, but hasn't been hitting as much.

Looking at how well Sabathia has pitched at home and against the Red Sox, I think he's going to be the favorite with the voters. IF Greinke pitches well against the Red Sox tomorrow, and in his final two starts against the Twins, it should be enough to take it, although he probably needs to pick up at least 2 more victories, and that probably won't happen...
