  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 13, 2012 -> 10:21 AM) Looks like Humber might have to be near perfect: Lillibridge, cf Beckham, 2b Dunn, 1b Konerko, DH Rios, rf Viciedo, lf Flowers, c Morel, 3b Escobar, ss Humber, p Got the Royals' line-up?
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) He was smoked what part don't you get. What I don't get is why Holland's ERA is so important to you. ERA stands for "earned runs allowed per NINE innings". Being that Holland has still yet to pitch nine innings on the season, the number is pretty skewed. Don't you get that?
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) 9.00 and 11.00 ERA's and nada! QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Not in 2012 so far until tonight. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) 11.00 plus era it not like he had 1 bad outing. he has had a rough year so far Yeah...Holland has had a "rough year". He pitched a whole 6.1 innings before tonight.
  4. Interesting that these clubs play only 3 games against each other until after the All-Star Break...
  5. Who knew Hochevar had a quality start in him?
  6. I don't understand the Pods hate. He was very good for us in 2010, I was disappointed when we gave him way to the Dodgers.
  7. This one has the makings of a blowout. Hochevars' time in the rotation is running out.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 11, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) Hosmer hitting .181 with a .605 OPS. Royalstalk.com is b****ing he wasn't traded when his value was high and also can't believe he's not being sent to AAA. I've never heard of that site, but it says it's shut down permanently.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) Royals with a pretty surprising comeback to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th again Bard and Albers. 4-4, KC threatening to take the lead and hopefully turn over to Broxton for the save. Sox killer Billy Butler just homered to put the Royals up 6-4 heading to the top of the 9th at Kauffman. Hosmer at a startling .183 with 5 homers and 16 RBI's. Hosmer has been making a lot of contact, just with no luck. How BABIP (batting average on balls in play) was .165 coming into tonights' game. He's only struck out 16 times this season. Ned Yost refuses to move him from 4th in the order. Billy Ray Butler finally showing some real home run power, he's got six now. He didn't hit #6 until June 10th last year.
  10. KC now with 3 wins in a row after losing 12 straight. Alex Gordon and Billy Butler are hitting well, still no pitching though.
  11. Royals finally win one. Streak over at 12. FML. Alex Gordon went 3 for 5, 3 RBI, a double, and a homer. Added 30 points to his average. Billy Ray Butler had two homers, he's been hitting well. Eric Hosmer with 5 homers now, it would be awesome to see him in the Derby this year.
  12. No worries about Gordon, its been four games. The rotation has been kind of surprising... Chen: 5 innings, 3 hits, 4 strikeouts Hochevar: 6.1 innnings, 2 runs, 2 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts Sanchez: 5 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 hits, 4 strikeouts Mendoza: 5.2 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts Duffy: 5 innings, 1 hit, 4 walks, 6 strikeouts
  13. I think the bullpen will be fine. Losing Soria blows, of course, but we have 3-4 guys who could take his place. It's Broxton's job to lose, but if he sucks or gets hurt, then Greg Holland should get a shot. If he fails, then there's Crow. And then Louis Coleman. I wouldn't be against Tim Collins getting a shot either but hopefully it won't go that far. I think there is a really good chance Soria we won't see Soria in a Royals' uniform. They have an $8 million option on him for next year, and this is his second Tommy John surgery. The rotation will be the real issue. Bruce Chen Luke Hochevar Jonathan Sanchez Danny Duffy Luis Mendoza Felipe Paulino
  14. Nice to see the Yankees open their season by getting swept down in Tampa...
  15. Royals evened up the series with the Angels yesterday, winning 6-3. Hosmer and Moustakas both homered off Dan Haren...
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) I'll believe it when I see it. For like 15 straight years people have been projecting that horsecrap team to breakout, and they never do. Wrong, sir. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) No mention of the Alex Gordon extension or did I miss it? He is the third following Perez and Escobar that Dayton has signed this offseason. $37.5MM over four years with a player option for 2016 at $12.5MM. Nice to see the Royals lock up some of their own talent for once. Amen, brother. I was confident a deal would get done, but I didn't expect it to happen before the season. All things considered, it got deal fairly cheap too. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Hosmer has 29 RBIs this spring. Beast. He's going to f*** s*** up this year. Heading into the season, my expectations are still the same as they were. I think anything less than 81-81 is a disappointment. It was aggravating to see the Royals pass on the likes of Roy Oswalt, Edwin Jackson, and even guys like Livan Hernandez. Our rotation is laughable. It's going to take a lot of offense to make up for it. We're going to miss Melky's production. Francoeur is likely to take a step back too. Gordon is going to be hard pressed to repeat his '11 production. Makes me sick to see Chris Getz is still a starter and Yuniesky Betancourt is back on the roster. Losing Salvador Perez is a huge blow, both offensively and defensively. Maybe this is finally the year we see some real power from Billy Butler. It sucks losing Soria for the entire season. Good thing our bullpen is pretty deep. Louis Coleman, Aaron Crow, Greg Holland, and Jonathan Broxton could all compete for the closers' role, I believe they'll end up going with Broxton.
  17. Davis was very deserving but POY should have went to Thomas Robinson.
  18. Here in Jayhawk country, we're loving this hire. Weber isn't a terrible coach, but he isn't as good as or better than Frank Martin either. They have an overbearing AD who ran Martin out of town and they end up with Weber. Sucks for them...
  19. Great game huh fellas? Been a s***ty year for my Chiefs...
  20. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) I'm not convinced Francona is the right man for the job. Great managers are those who can get more out of less. In Boston, Francona has always been surrounded with top talent and payrolls. His experience and titles certainly trump that of guys like Alomar Jr. and Martinez who have never managed in the big leagues before, but they don't necessarilly mean he is a great manager. Winning two World Series in eight years, from the AL East makes you a great manager.
  21. Rebuilding is going to be a long and painful process for your franchise. The next few years will weed out the fake fans...
  22. Quite a game here fellas, another snoozer in late September. Cy Chen baffling the White Sox. I hope they bring him back next year.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Damn, I'm startin' to feel bad for Ozzie. I liked it better when it was just Sox fans that lambasted him. Now it's a world-wide epidemic. People in third-world countries are hating on Ozzie now. Yes, I used hyperbole. But you get the point. People in the KC area are laughing at the Sox and Ozzie. Not even our eternal optimists can't think of a reason Ozzie should still be managing, let alone get an extension. Your team needs to cut their losses and start fresh.
