No doubt if an announcement happens now it will take place in Arizona. It’s be kind of silly to do it in Chicago then immediately fly him down to Arizona. Cross that bridge when we come to it and pray that it does become an issue of who to play at what position

Isn’t keeping him longer than one or two years the goal here? It doesn’t the whitesox no good to let him sign for an opt out after 2019 if they aren’t really planning on competing until 2020 and even then you may not fully be ready to win it all until 2021. To me it defeats the purpose of bringing him in then.

Would he though? He was saying the other day he wants his starters to continue going 7-8 and even 9 innings throwing 100+ pitches and his ball clubs will always do that. The trend for MLB lately is to rely heavily on the bullpen and seem to be drifting away from that kind of stuff.....not saying that old dogs can’t learn new tricks but maybe time is starting to pass him by.... I will finish this up by saying that his job is absolutely safe here due to the “loyalty” from ownership and not having a negative track record with our staff.
