No one said anything about jumping off the ledge, the grandal signing came out of left field. If they miss on wheeler I will see what they do but won’t put much hope into it based on past success rates

Absolutely zero chance they would have let Abreu walk not when that’s a signal it’s time to contend. Jimenez they would have tried extending just because that’s the whitesox way and what they have him being paid will be bargain dumpster shopping here in a season or so. I’m not going to give this front office the benefit of the doubt you have to do more than extending Abreu and signing grandal to say the money was spent, because imo the moment you spend 250 mil you are going to spend more to make the team a contender. 250 mil and so far the only thing that has come back in new money is the 74 mil to Grandal. There is much more to be spent in my opinion

And last offseason had they signed Machado do you really think they would have just let Abreu walk? Highly unlikely

If you are factoring the Abreu or even Jimenez contract into the equation you are messing with the numbers just to say they got to 250. It’s deceiving on the fact they were under club control and if you had landed Machado you certainly would spend more money to keep Abreu around. So in my eyes that 50 million or whatever you want to classify it as does not count.

Meh, he seems like another random dude....we will see... if we land both before the winter meetings life is good for RH and crew to focus on the final remaining pieces. Idk, last offseason was never ending so to have a potential of grandal and wheeler signed before then would be a huge win for the Sox

McCann serves a purpose on this roster, the trade you could get in return for him would be less than his worth to us in my opinion. He will be Giolitos personal catcher and can fill in at DH occasionally

To be fair as much as I’d like to have JDM he is not a right fielder.

If you could get wheeler locked up before the winter meetings that would be huge so that way Hahn/Kenny can focus on the task of mind games with Scott Boras for one or two of his potential clients

This deal doesn’t make much sense if we aren’t going to go get some pitching. You can have the best player in the game behind the plate but if you got scraps throwing the ball you only can do so much

Grandal and Odorizzi still wouldn’t do it for me. You have get another quality pitcher for that to be a justified offseason in my opinion, if you miss out on a Rendon, Cole, strasburg, and wheeler.....not after how we fell flat on our face last offseason. However I agree i don’t mind the 2nd round pick attached to him

Odorizzi in my opinion is not premium talent and if that’s where the money is going to be spent at I will be highly disappointed

It’s going to be tougher this offseason to land a big fish with so many teams in the mix......that’s why landing Machado last offseason was critical

Yep. That combined with the yanks interest in Garrit Cole on top of it....but at least we have a seat again this year ?
