  1. If the rumor is true it will be interesting to see how quickly Boras uses that as leverage in the Harper negotiations to squeeze some extra millions out of the Sox
  2. Yeah he doubled down on it saying the rivalry between the yanks and red Sox are going to be even crazier now with Machado
  3. Well I’ve always felt that it the Sox were going to land one of the big two it was going to be Machado, if he is indeed off the board we need to back up the truck for Harper and call it a day.
  4. Well if it’s true I’m sure Yonder knows already and he ended up telling the Sox it’s a no go and now this is where the encarnacion rumors started floating about
  5. That is going to be nasty but if one team can wait it out it’s the White Sox, they don’t have to rush this, no reason to do so because if he doesn’t sign with the Sox we just stay the course we have been on. I don’t feel like Hahn has to have a deadline for Harper
  6. On to Harper.....nothing left to see here
  7. I agree, I would rather stay the course than add just to add and if not move the needle, encarnacion is 35, wouldn’t be a long term fit here
  8. Just trying to figure out where he would fit at right now at this point ?
  9. That would be the case with encarnacion if it happened, he got dealt to Seattle just recently this offseason right?
  10. Can he play 3rd anymore or just strictly a DH/1B
  11. I just posted about this in another thread. You heard correctly Morosi said exactly that, can he still play some 3rd base or is he strictly a 1B/DH now a days
  12. Morosi said on hot stove the White Sox are in on trying to acquire Edwin encarnacion, thoughts?
  13. The same can be said for one who takes speed off of their fastball, higher end velocity is still not the direct issue in my opinion, it comes down to the mechanics.
  14. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/12/28/mlb-trade-rumors-manny-machado-yankees-phillies-white-sox yankees the front runner?
  15. https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/2010/08/elbow-injuries-and-what-causes-tommy-john-surgery/ It’s has more to do with mechanics than velocity...
  16. Not only that but he’s been known for striking out before this season, it has been a concern for him throughout. I’ll take the good with the bad when it comes to him. I don’t think he will ever be a contact hitter (not in this day and age) and will strike out a bunch regardless just based on his history but if he can have a better approach he could do a whole bunch in helping his at bats early in the count
  17. Yes the harder you throw the more risk is involved in that injury, that is not rocket science but to EXPECT it to happen is a different story. There is risk involved I agree, and you could say that with just about any major league pitcher now a days, but to go out and expect it to happen is a different story. A lot of people have said that Sale has that same risk factor but I’m not expecting him to blow out his arm over the next year, if it happens then it does, but I don’t believe they are betting on it happening.
  18. Last message about this in the harper thread because we can talk about this elsewhere but come on man, yes pitchers do get hurt all the time but to “expect” that to happen to him is just ridiculous, I highly, highly doubt they expected that in his first few games of his career. If that was the case then shame on management for making the trade to begin with. I’m all about being optimistic about the rebuild, but saying we should have expected that injury especially when it happened is just coming up with built in excuses. People have the right to be concerned with the direction it has started out in, doesn’t mean it’s going to be a total failure but the point is either way you look at it, a lot of stuff so far has not gone right for the White Sox and signing either of these two (Harper or Machado) will be a sigh of relief for many fans with the doom and gloom thoughts that are beginning to creep up.
  19. I would agree it hasn’t gone quite as planned. Injuries (Kopech, Burger, Robert, Burdi) disappointing starts to careers (moncada, Giolito) have gotten this off to a bumpy start for sure
  20. He’s not dumb, he knows exactly why he was acquired and is earning his paycheck hopefully as we speak. Although not knowing much about who he is as a person from what I’ve listened to of him he seems very humble about all of this and actually a pretty smart dude
  21. That would be Machado who was told that and I don’t think it bothered him that much as he ended up taking a photo with the guy
  22. Looking back on all of the offseason moves so far the only one that had an inkling of a rumor of happening was the Alonso trade and even then the Sox weren’t specifically named by Rosenthal as the team in on him.
  23. 1. Paul Konerko 2. Scotty Pods 3. AJ Pierzynski 4. Mark Buehrle 5. Jose Valentine So many runner ups though.... man.....tough call
  24. John Heyman was talking about it on MLB Network not that long ago
  25. He has the opportunity to be a closer with us....not for sure who else out there is in on him but that combined with money....that helps a little too
