  1. I think Mitchell's days as a super prospect are long gone, you never hear any discussion about him at all in KW's long or short term plans. That ankle injury was devastating.
  2. Blanke was kind of the wonder kid prospect for a year, but he thinks Smith has passed him by at Catcher.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) The main reason Ozzie disliked Swisher from what the media reported is that Ozzie felt Swisher was selfish for pouting that he was losing out on at bats to Wise while the team was in a pennant race. It was ugly between those two when Ozzie did not play him in the 2008 playoffs.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) I have to lol @ Jay Cowley starting to tweet about the Marlins and then how Danks will be a Yankee after next year, immediately after the Sox announce the extension. Someone needs some attention. His mom must not have gotten him that Christmas present he wanted. Wow, how many times are you going to hear Cowley on the Score, start a statement by staying, that I don't know why everyone thinks I hate the Sox but.... Look, if he is a Yankee in a year, we will have gotten a lot more for him with this extension so good move.
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) Here's a quick list of guys I found on milb.com players searches: Dominican: Marinez, Silverio Puerto Rico: Leesman, Ozzie Martinez, Santiago, Jones, Remenowsky Venezuela: Infante, Escobar, Jose Martinez Leesman and Santiago put up OK numbers, but for the most part forgettable. Thanks for the research danman, ok, not much to get excited about.
  6. Did any of the Sox prospects play Winter Ball and have any type of respectable showing?
  7. I received a southpaw "pillow pet" from my kids for Christmas, the first time in my life, no shirt, sweatshirt, jersey or jacket....... Merry Christmas everyone.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 24, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Go with an OF of Cespedes-De Aza- Viciedo. Rios rots on the bench or gets shipped for another bad deal. Could not agree more, we are beyond the point with him where we are forced to play him.........
  9. Ok, I will be officially devastated if KW does not sign this guy, it will be the same kick in the gut as when Tori went to the Angels.
  10. When is it anticipated that he will be declared a free agent?
  11. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Dec 23, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) If we are in rebuilding mode, could our chances be enhanced by offering him a guaranteed start on the major league roster? (similar to what we did to sign Sale). Good point and that is probably our greatest bargaining chip.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) Even if he doesn't start at the big league level for whatever reason, signing him clearly makes our organization stronger, given the dearth of talent we have on its way up. However, I will admit I said the same thing about Fukodome about 4 years ago and I'm so glad I was disappointed the Cubs signed him.
  13. Maybe it is just the mid-season blues, but I'm starting to really want this guy......
  14. Could this be an extension that has been agreed to by another team?
  15. That is really surprising, but it would make sense if we start dumping salary though. Remember we offered Fukodome over $50 million to sign with us.
  16. It is telling that Danks went on the record about a clubhouse matter, just another signal, after turning down two contract extensions that he is gone.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 03:39 AM) Jose Mijares seemed to be the most interesting one to me, especially if Thornton is eventually traded. Agreed. But he will get some interest, no way do I want Ohman to be the primary set-up man or first LH out of the pen.
  18. It's one thing to read Phil Rogers rip this trade, but on the Score right now, I have never heard him be so critical......................
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:38 AM) I wouldn't doubt it if we discussed something like this with the Reds: Chisox send: Q, Danks, Thornton Reds send: Grandal, Alonso, Baily, +2 pitching prospects If that trade was on the table, KW would have accepted it, that would be a haul.
  20. Rogers always talks up one guy per year at this time to promote his Baseball America White Sox top 30 list........like Paulo Orlando or Gomes.......
  21. This is a new name from Phil Rogers, anyone ever heard anything on him? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...,0,227889.story
  22. Remember when most of us were so happy that Reds took Alonso instead of Beckham in the draft, we were all shocked.......is that still the case?
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Especially that future Cy Young winner, Hudson. Man, what a pitcher that guy is! The Sox could use a pitcher like that. Don't forget Holmberg as well..........
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Why? Right now, we have 5 legit starters and more relievers than we have room for, in addition to a couple borderline guys like Stewart and Axelrod who are long term who-knows, but the hitting talent in our org is completely bare. Solid point, but by the time the season starts, I believe we WILL NOT have 5 legit starters and that we will be hoping for one or two unproven guys to perform and would like to get a couple of those future options filled if we trade Danks and/or Floyd.
  25. Alonso is tempting, but I am only for trading pitching for pitching..................
