  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) Gardeck went 16th round to SF (8th in 2011 by the Sox) and Grimes just completed his sophomore year at Georgia Tech. Ben O'Shea (10th round in 2011) went to the Cards in the 35th this year. Jones slipped from 7th to 26th. Chadd Krist was a 13th rounder by the Sox last year and was taken in the 9th this year by the Cubs. He was a senior though so the Cubs may have wanted him as a signable guy in the top 10 rounds. Matt Ginther went from 14th by the Sox last year to 24th. Wow, truly appreciate the effort on this. This is great, thanks. Did not recall some of these names.
  2. Being reported that Cubs were at Soler's workout today, anyone hear if KW had anyone in attendance?
  3. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) A lot of people were disappointed that Jones didn't sign, maybe it was the right move. What other former Sox draft picks were selected or eligible? Grimes, Gardeck etc.....? Gardeck went at pick 508 to the Giants..........
  4. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) Correa is going to sign for $5 million, more than $2 million under slot. Wow, huge steal for the Astros. Wow, signability had to be the main reason for drafting him.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Remember this guy? http://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/210443161074536448 A lot of people were disappointed that Jones didn't sign, maybe it was the right move. What other former Sox draft picks were selected or eligible? Grimes, Gardeck etc.....?
  6. Sox close to signing Barnum already..... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6238601.story That means KW has been on this guy for a while.
  7. Love Toronto's draft, solely because the three players they picked were all three linked to us and I was following them all, DJ Davis, Stroman, Smoral. Still shocked by the first two picks being high school position players.
  8. What was the point they were making about compensation picks that do not sign? You lose the money? Do you know get an extra pick next year if your compensation pick does not sign?
  9. Sox just have to promote the Green Line, but it will definitely hurt attendance.
  10. I hope Cleveland does not take Stroman so we don't have to hear about those comparisons for years.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) Appel, Stroman, and Giolito are my choices in that order Robin loves Giolito...........
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) So, final predictions for first pick by Sox? I'm going with Stratton In a shocker, DJ Davis.
  13. What time does the draft start tonight and how much time between picks? Will the Sox make two picks tonight (1st round and supplemental)?
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 05:47 AM) Only way the Sox are getting Youk is if they are willing to take on his entire salary and no other team is offering up a prime prospect. For what it's worth, John Heyman on the Score just said that Youk can be had for almost nothing in return if a team agrees to take on all or most of his remaining salary and buy out. Heyman indicated that is around $9 million.
  15. Lost in all of the hype with the current hot streak is really how bad Floyd has been. Let's hope he gets it turned around. I wonder what kind of offers KW turned down for Floyd in the offseason.
  16. Big win and it saved out bullpen. We are set up for the next series with a rested pen, this was one of the most important games of the season coming off of Saturday's loss and the way RV used the pen. Nice work.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) Sickels' latest mock draft: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2012/6/3/30...t-johns-version Would be happy with any of those, but love DJ Davis.
  18. We are just going to tease ourselves again, I just do not see us with any chance to land him. He is going to the Cubs.
  19. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 01:25 AM) Danks had been a MLB prospect for his entire pro career until recently. It's about time he did something in the upper minors to support that. I'm probably one of his biggest supporters (having watched him show off his plus D in CF in person), but it's put up or shut up time. He's having a good year, but I'm not sure I see him as a full-time MLBer. As we have been discussing in another thread, I would like to see him up as our 4th Outfielder/defensive replacement. Drop Fukodome, and having Danks up allows DeAza to get some rest because he can play CF.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:24 PM) I just don't get this logic. Jordan is putting together a nice season and might be building a little bit of value. He's not going to do much more than Fukudome rotting on the bench. Keep him at AAA until September unless there is an injury. Fair counterpoint, I can see Fukodome starting to get disgruntled about lack of playing time. I think Jordan would be happy just to be up and will be ready and willing to play every game.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) Looks like the Twins will take that Georgia kid, and Houston goes with a college pitcher. Zunino probably to the M's. Is this the same "Georgia kid" who was hurt in the last year that some sites had the Sox linked too? If so his stock must have really risen.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) Danks over .300. Johnson with 2 more homers. Mitchell with his 8th triple. I hope we can get Jordan to the major league roster. Drop Fukodome, Danks can be a defensive replacement for Dayan almost every game.
  23. I was shocked to hear that the Sox are 20-3 against Seattle in the last 23 games, amazing.
