QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) Where is Marty34 in this thread now? Certain people didn't understand why the Sox took a Jacob May in round 3. If you have to, just pretend that Anderson, Mitchell, Danish, and Michalczewski were the Sox first 4 picks. This is why you have to look at the entire draft before commenting. White Sox have done a nice job of adding through the draft the last 2 years. I hope it continues. Now hopefully their efforts in Latin America and overseas can start making a positive dent as well. Strong and solid point. These types of transactions have to be analyzed in the totality of the Sox draft class.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) Yes, and no it will not count against the pool value. I believe Michalczewki's contract has the future tuition stipulation as well. Thanks for clarification, just not used to the Sox going after these high ceiling high school guys.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) Jim Callis @jimcallisBA 5m #WhiteSox sign Trey Michalszewski for $500k. Oklahoma HS 3B, steal in 7th rd, good bat & power from both sides, strong arm. #mlbdraft Does the new CBA still allow a team to pay for college costs for high school signees? If so does that count against a teams bonus allotment?

Do you want Ventura back as manager next year?

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:53 AM) Yes. This is Hahn's disaster. Robin & his staff were brought in to work with young players. Where are the good young players? Sox haven't brought enough pieces in here to work with. Not Robin's fault. Robin's game decisions can be horrible but that shouldn't matter so much right now because we need him more to focus on fundamentals (again, vets f***iung up aren't his fault) and handle a losing clubhouse so that even though they're losing the players still put forth an effort. The vets are dragging this thing down. Hahn Hahn Hahn it's all your fault stop being so damn lazy already. I agree with your sentiments and it is still my belief that Robin is the right guy to work with the younger players. Robin has made some questionable game management decisions, but how many games has Alexi Ramirez' defense and lack of clutch hitting cost us (among numerous other player faults). -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) https://twitter.com/MattBall_ChiSox/status/...5642496/photo/1 Matt Ball @MattBall_ChiSox 1h Signed my name on that line, officially a Chicago White Sox!! Can't wait to get out there!! Any word on what Ball signed for? Wasn't this one supposed to be a coup?
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 12:44 AM) I'm getting the impression that Matt Ball has signed. He said he is leaving for AZ on Wednesday, and he was discussing his rookie-ball flat rate salary w/ someone, so I'm guessing he's inked it. Wow, that would be am impressive sign right?

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) Where's he gonna play in Bham? Trayce, Walker, Early and Mitchell already a log jam Great point, just hoping there is not some massive promotion based on some sell off at the big league level. However, with your comment, I'm optimistic that barring injury I will be able to see him play.

What a dramatic change in discussion about Hawkins this year. Let's hope he can keep it up. I am going to be in Winston Salem in August for a game and I hope that he is still there!

White Sox draft thread: Day Three

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) Adam Engel, CF, University of Louisville, R/R, JR, 6'01" 215lbs DOB: 12/09/91 @AEngel_10 Engel has one of the most exciting packages of tools among college players in this Draft class, but a disappointing spring has hurt his stock. Engel has plus-plus speed and plays excellent defense in center field. He is a leadoff type of hitter who relies on making contact with his line-drive swing. However, Engel has struggled at the plate for almost a full year. He hit just .229 in the Cape Cod League last summer and hasn't improved much back at Louisville this season. Engel's elite athleticism and potential still give him a good chance to go high in the Draft. Scouting video - http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?topic_id=4039549...ent_id=27519451 Interesting pick, wonder if he signs. Like the athleticism. -

Veal optioned to AAA/Danks starting Friday
Springfield Soxfan replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Brian @ May 23, 2013 -> 03:55 AM) Maybe Jones should be optioned. Get his head straight. Agree completely, he needs some time in the minors. Automatic walks everytime. -
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,0,556047.story Let's see where he ultimately signs. Thoughts?
-
Is he on the roster for tonight's game as the Sox optioned Tekotte back to minors?

I have a set, not personalized though. Look sharp on my car.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Feb 23, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) Impressive pitching. Axelrod could make some big starts for us this season in an emergency role Does Axelrod still have options left or does he need to make the 25 man opening day roster? -

Sox trade RP Jeff Soptic for 3B Conor Gillaspie
Springfield Soxfan replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope it works out. I just do not like trading pitching for a player who is out of options. Soptic can still be harnessed, look at Nate Jones a few years ago. -
Bell can see gains already internationally
Springfield Soxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
Chicago White Sox Top signing: OF Hanleth Otano, Dominican Republic, $550,000. Six-figure signings: 3B Luis Castillo (Dominican Republic), SS Johan Cruz (Dominican Republic), OF Antonio Rodriguez (Dominican Republic), RHP Victor Done (Dominican Republic), RHP Yelmison Peralta (Dominican Republic). Quick Take: In their year July 2 under Marco Paddy, the White Sox spent the majority of their international money on Dominican prospects. From Baseball America. Anyone have info on Otano? -

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) Why would he want a 1 tool player? Point well taken, was just curious what others thought. Someone to run for Dunn in the late innings, but we have enough of those options. -

Does anyone think that Hahn puts in a claim for Campana? -
QUOTE (Leonard of Berwyn @ Jan 20, 2013 -> 10:32 PM) Kelly Johnson can play 3B, 2B and LF. George Kottaras is a LH catcher. Both would look good in a Sox uniform. Solid post, would be happy with both of those guys to solidify our bench.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 2, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) I think I am more excited about him than I ever have been about any White Sox prospect. I felt that way about Beckham at first and that has cooled, but share the same feeling about Hawkins now. -
Thanks to everyone who administers this site and posts regularly. Highlight of my day is to follow some of these posts. It also makes following the Sox that more intriguing. I appreciate everyone and hope everyone has a great 2013.

He was never coming back. Hahn did not want a major PR explosion if he stated it publicly that AJ was not going to be resigned.
