  1. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 05:04 AM) just draft the best available pitcher. i have zero confidence that the Sox can properly groom a position player to be anything above average with a bat in his hands. I have been leaning to the same position. Sox can never have enough pitching.
  2. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) Not the biggest fan of him debuting at Yankee Stadium against Sabathia. I agree, just hope Ventura does not play Connor at 3b tomorrow, he has been atrocious.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) If he was 34, not 24, I'd be down for him pitching tonight. But he has way too much value to the Sox to risk his arm like that. Agreed, he should be giving multiple days off. Reed is one of the Sox greatest assets now.
  4. Wow, Hawkins game winning double. Don't tell me what you hit tell me when you hit it. Sigh.......
  5. Now a throwing error by Hawkins allows go ahead run to score.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) Hawkins 0-5, 3k and 2 double plays Team, I am in Winston Salem tonight and I wish I had a better report. Hawkins saw almost all breaking balls In the diet and he missed them all. Bases loaded one out on bottom of the month with Johnson at third and he hits into a double play. Johnson thrown out twice stealing. I'm discouraged.
  7. I am going to be in Winston Salem on Thursday night to see the Dash as we head to the Outer Banks for a family vacation, and then Kannapolis a week later on the way home. Hope to see some of these new players. My wife rocks. The analysis of this trade is insightful and is making me laugh out loud. Thanks much.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) "Garcia has a chance to be a monster"...we'll hear that a million times You nailed it. Agreed totally.
  9. This blows if that is all we get one prospect for Peavy. Hahn must have caved and then to help the Tigers in the Division as well by facilitating. Please be more.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) In other news Troncoso sucks Yes he does, Hahn please DFA him tonight, please please please.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) I must be the only one on Soxtalk who isn't enamored with Peavy. I really want him to be traded before he gets hurt again. I was pumped when KW acquired him but he never has lived up to expectations.
  12. Unless a major league ready SS is part of the deal, who plays SS for the Sox if Hahn trades Alexi?
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 07:34 AM) His first name should have tipped you off that he was probably born in the US. Good one, made me laugh out loud. Was looking solely at the last name.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 06:28 AM) Sox signed Travis Ishikawa, and assigned him to Charlotte. When I first saw this on my news feed, I thought Hahn made another splashy international signing. But alas, no avail, journeyman.
  15. The Joe Borchard legacy lives......Borchard-Thornton-Jacobs.
  16. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 06:08 PM) No Trayce Thompson, who was pulled early from last night's game. Hopefully he's ok... http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20130704 Sox just optioned Jordan Danks, and I ready that Wise is just gearing up for his rehab assignment, could it be? I hope not, but you never know.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Marco Paddy? Yes Paddy, my fault, was giving credit to his staff if he has one.
  18. I know he is only 16 and some might say Hahn overpaid, but if the Cubs signed him we would have been drooling. It is nice to see the Sox take a gamble. Let's hope this pays off for the international department after the Molina recommendation. I'm pumped.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) Where is Marty34 in this thread now? Certain people didn't understand why the Sox took a Jacob May in round 3. If you have to, just pretend that Anderson, Mitchell, Danish, and Michalczewski were the Sox first 4 picks. This is why you have to look at the entire draft before commenting. White Sox have done a nice job of adding through the draft the last 2 years. I hope it continues. Now hopefully their efforts in Latin America and overseas can start making a positive dent as well. Strong and solid point. These types of transactions have to be analyzed in the totality of the Sox draft class.
  20. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) Yes, and no it will not count against the pool value. I believe Michalczewki's contract has the future tuition stipulation as well. Thanks for clarification, just not used to the Sox going after these high ceiling high school guys.
  21. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA 5m #WhiteSox sign Trey Michalszewski for $500k. Oklahoma HS 3B, steal in 7th rd, good bat & power from both sides, strong arm. #mlbdraft Does the new CBA still allow a team to pay for college costs for high school signees? If so does that count against a teams bonus allotment?
  22. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 16, 2013 -> 07:53 AM) Yes. This is Hahn's disaster. Robin & his staff were brought in to work with young players. Where are the good young players? Sox haven't brought enough pieces in here to work with. Not Robin's fault. Robin's game decisions can be horrible but that shouldn't matter so much right now because we need him more to focus on fundamentals (again, vets f***iung up aren't his fault) and handle a losing clubhouse so that even though they're losing the players still put forth an effort. The vets are dragging this thing down. Hahn Hahn Hahn it's all your fault stop being so damn lazy already. I agree with your sentiments and it is still my belief that Robin is the right guy to work with the younger players. Robin has made some questionable game management decisions, but how many games has Alexi Ramirez' defense and lack of clutch hitting cost us (among numerous other player faults).
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) https://twitter.com/MattBall_ChiSox/status/...5642496/photo/1 Matt Ball ‏@MattBall_ChiSox 1h Signed my name on that line, officially a Chicago White Sox!! Can't wait to get out there!! Any word on what Ball signed for? Wasn't this one supposed to be a coup?
