  1. Gardner is also in the last year of his contract, an extension would be needed if we are giving up young talent. If the Yankees would take on Alexi or John Danks in a trade then no extension needed.
  2. As others have stated, now that the Yankees have Beltran, I wonder if Gardner is an option for the Sox. If he signed a contract extension would not mind that at all.
  3. Go for the best pitcher available in the Rule 5 and see if he lights in up in Spring Training.
  4. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 11:33 AM) Wouldn't hate it, but I've been coming around on Turner. I'd really love the dynamic of Turner and Micah Johnson reeking havoc at the top of the lineup. I really feel the same way. Nervous about taking a high school pitcher, barring some injury this spring, I'm for Turner as well.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) All things considered, I honestly think I'd rank signing Granderson to a multi-year deal right up there with the Sox signing Erstad. He at least has a lot of talent, but that just seems like a move that would backfire in a big way. Excellent analogy. Great point.
  6. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 05:04 AM) just draft the best available pitcher. i have zero confidence that the Sox can properly groom a position player to be anything above average with a bat in his hands. I have been leaning to the same position. Sox can never have enough pitching.
  7. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) Not the biggest fan of him debuting at Yankee Stadium against Sabathia. I agree, just hope Ventura does not play Connor at 3b tomorrow, he has been atrocious.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) If he was 34, not 24, I'd be down for him pitching tonight. But he has way too much value to the Sox to risk his arm like that. Agreed, he should be giving multiple days off. Reed is one of the Sox greatest assets now.
  9. Wow, Hawkins game winning double. Don't tell me what you hit tell me when you hit it. Sigh.......
  10. Now a throwing error by Hawkins allows go ahead run to score.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) Hawkins 0-5, 3k and 2 double plays Team, I am in Winston Salem tonight and I wish I had a better report. Hawkins saw almost all breaking balls In the diet and he missed them all. Bases loaded one out on bottom of the month with Johnson at third and he hits into a double play. Johnson thrown out twice stealing. I'm discouraged.
  12. I am going to be in Winston Salem on Thursday night to see the Dash as we head to the Outer Banks for a family vacation, and then Kannapolis a week later on the way home. Hope to see some of these new players. My wife rocks. The analysis of this trade is insightful and is making me laugh out loud. Thanks much.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) "Garcia has a chance to be a monster"...we'll hear that a million times You nailed it. Agreed totally.
  14. This blows if that is all we get one prospect for Peavy. Hahn must have caved and then to help the Tigers in the Division as well by facilitating. Please be more.
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) In other news Troncoso sucks Yes he does, Hahn please DFA him tonight, please please please.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) I must be the only one on Soxtalk who isn't enamored with Peavy. I really want him to be traded before he gets hurt again. I was pumped when KW acquired him but he never has lived up to expectations.
  17. Unless a major league ready SS is part of the deal, who plays SS for the Sox if Hahn trades Alexi?
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 07:34 AM) His first name should have tipped you off that he was probably born in the US. Good one, made me laugh out loud. Was looking solely at the last name.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 06:28 AM) Sox signed Travis Ishikawa, and assigned him to Charlotte. When I first saw this on my news feed, I thought Hahn made another splashy international signing. But alas, no avail, journeyman.
  20. The Joe Borchard legacy lives......Borchard-Thornton-Jacobs.
  21. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 06:08 PM) No Trayce Thompson, who was pulled early from last night's game. Hopefully he's ok... http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20130704 Sox just optioned Jordan Danks, and I ready that Wise is just gearing up for his rehab assignment, could it be? I hope not, but you never know.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Marco Paddy? Yes Paddy, my fault, was giving credit to his staff if he has one.
  23. I know he is only 16 and some might say Hahn overpaid, but if the Cubs signed him we would have been drooling. It is nice to see the Sox take a gamble. Let's hope this pays off for the international department after the Molina recommendation. I'm pumped.
