  1. Found out that I have to be in Chicago for work tonight and was hoping to stop by Soxfesf. Anyone know of the secondary market sells passes for tonight or anyway to get a pass for tonight? Peace
  2. I really believe that Avi will be traded because of this potential arbitration case.
  3. I recall Reinsdorf used to have the unwritten policy that if you went to arbitration you were on your way out of town. In my mind, not a good sign for Avi and Sanchez’s long term prospects.
  4. Did the White Sox get all of the PTBNL from the various trades last year?
  5. I saw a tweet from the Athletic today that said Hostetler provided a "draft name of interest." If accurate, did anyone see this? Insight?
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) They could lose all of the unprotected guys and it wouldn't decimate them (and they can lose more than 1 in Rule 5).. But sometimes, small things can make a big difference. Just particularly concerned about pitching. We'll see what they do with the extra room. Interesting. I stand corrected then. My comments moved to then I don’t think the Sox will get decimated at the Rule 5 draft.
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 07:53 AM) I didn't understand the 40 man roster management weeks ago, and after today's cuts, still perplexed. Re Adams, the Sox really don't need him as a bridge because they have multiple corner OF/IF try-out candidates on the roster that they have to make a decision on in the next year or so,, who need either play 1B or could be moved there and/or take some reps at DH: Davidson, Gillaspie, Palka, Cordell I have been thinking about this as well and it all come down to the fact that the White Sox can only lose one player in the Rule 5 so it is not like the team is going to be decimated. Further, they need some spots on the 40 man to field a major league team in 2018 so some flexibility was needed there as well. There has to be more free agent signings coming.........
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) Due to the number of rebuilders, there is a bigger risk to losing some of these guys. They can be stashed on the roster if teams aren't expecting to win anyway. The Sox did it last year with a pitcher who barely pitched above A Ball - and our eligibles had at at least the credentials he did. 2 of the 3 players from Yanks were Rule 5 eligible and still in the low minors - Yankees knew what they were doing. Keep: clark, Jimenez, Guerrero, Peter, Polo, Adolpho, Clarkin, Cooper, Walsh Keep either Hayes or Gillaspie. I like Lechich, but I'd chance it. That's 10 spots and need 5 openings. Not a problem. Dump: Albequerque, Farquar, Petricka, Beck, Covey If they need more room, dump Fry, and combination of May, Hansen, W Garcia. I suppose they could dump Putnam, but he's actually been a good pitcher They may need a couple of spots for veteran arms; but Minaya and Infante (both of whom pitched pretty darn well last year) can fill that role. Agreed totally. However, keep Gillaspie.
  9. I cannot believe we have not heard more of Grandson to the White Sox to mentor the younger guys........bringing him home to Chicago....
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) Wow is beck awful. This pen is amazing Beck no longer has major league ability.
  11. Did I read some tweets over the weekend that Burdi was supposed to be in Chicago for an MRI on his arm this week? If so, I/we haven't heard anything. Anyone see/hear the same?
  12. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Gave him the bonus of a 34th pick, but was ranked from 57th to 68th prospect per BA, MLB, and ESPN. Pretty sure no one else would have gave him $600K above slot. Stunned that the Sox had to go this high above slot to sign him. Maybe other teams wanted to pick him earlier and the price tag scared him away.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) Exactly. He'll probably sign a little overslot, but not multiple hundreds of thousands. Sox already know how much money it will take to sign Skoug or they would not have drafted him. There was a high school player from my town drafted and he said on radio he recorded calls from 4-5 teams each round trying to find out a price to sign. When he agreed he was drafted immediately.
  14. I believe Micah Johnson was also a 9th rounder from Indiana?
  15. He has to sign otherwise the Sox lose out on the ability to use that slot money for anyone else. Will be interesting development.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:59 AM) That said I'm very jealous that Cleveland got Quentin Holmes. Could not agree more!
  17. I would love Beck. Sox are too attached to Kendall. Kendall is the pick.
  18. Tribune quotes Hostetler as saying that he has a list of six players and only one is a pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 07:35 AM) What? They want Engel to get everyday at-bats and he wasn't going to get those with Luery playing well in front of him. Agreed, he will be back. He was better than May and his speed off the bench will be a great tool for the rebuild.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2017 -> 09:25 PM) Burdi's implosion all started with May's mediocre defense. A few cheap hits followed. Agreed, May should have caught the first ball that was hit his way by the hitter leading off that inning and then May totally missed the cutoff man or he would have been out at 3rd. Changed whole tenor of the inning.
