  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) Also, no one thought Royse was promising. Most people blasted the pick when it was made. The injury only amplified that concern. Just got Baseball America's prospect handbook and it lists Royse as 31 on our list and calls him a steal before the injury and that he should be ready for spring training.
  2. Anyone hear anything on the promising pick Royse who had arm surgery over a year ago?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) No way the Sox are getting this guy. Sox have no money to win any bidding wars this offseason (cue rip of KW for Dunn, Peavy, Rios wastes of dough). Agreed, no way, let's stop teasing ourselves. Seriously..........hope for Soler.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 03:34 AM) Looks like he'll be a Fish - like it or not - Miami will be fun to watch this year. Agreed, we need to start thinking about being happy with the hopeful signing of one of the other Cuban free agents. Miami has the money to spend and they will get him.
  5. I really think the Cubs are going to get him, if Epstein wants him, Ricketts will allow him to go all in.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) Even if there were, that doesn't really matter. Again, solid point, as KW will trade anyone anytime, it is just interesting that all talk has been quite on GF.
  7. No matter what happens with this thread, I do think Floyd gets traded before spring training. There have not been any hard denials that Floyd will be traded by KW or the Sox.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) I'd prefer the Sox go after Soler instead. At this point, would be excited for either one. Forgot that Soler is a potential consolation prize.
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Jorge Ebro of El Nuevo Herald says (on Twitter) that the Marlins will withdraw from the Cespedes derby if his price tag exceeds $60MM. That is a kick in the groin if that is true, we need to temper expectations, no way we get that high.
  10. KW always makes a move around SoxFest (except the year that Ozzie and he were in a tiff over Thome), let's hope it is Cespedes.
  11. This is like Chinese water torture waiting for Cespedes to be declared a free agent. If someone other team signs him, I hope it is soon so the mourning can start.........
  12. I don't think there is any chance of EJAX coming back................
  13. Going with Castro, let's hope that we catch lightning in a bottle.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) I know the Sox are projected and expected to take a pitcher with the #13 overall pick, but I can't help but think Kenny is licking his lips if this guy falls to #13..... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/924427-...andings/page/11 He just looks like someone we would typically draft. Agreed great find and totally has some merit as KW has been on this draft athleticism kick lately so I would not be shocked.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) How can anyone complain about this move? Sox didn't have a need for Fraser and got two guys with some potential. They aren't can't miss but who in the world would exPect that in this type of deal. Nice job Kenny. Agreed, most of the people on this board were upset about picking up the extension, so why not take a chance on two players that the Jays paid over the slot bonuses for.
  16. Classy and honest quote by Q: “I have a lot of emotions in my heart for teammates,’’ Quentin said. “We did underachieve and most of the guys in the clubhouse will admit that.’’
  17. Q, what would have been if you had not broken your hand in 2008. The Sox beat the Rays in the first round for sure and who knows what happens from there. Good luck in San Diego!!
  18. I wonder where the two new guys obtained from the Padres will fall in Sickels' list?
  19. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) People need to wake up and stop talking about possibly signing the Cubans. Cespedes/Soler are a pipe dream. Sox are trying to reduce salary not add. I think it is a long shot as well, but the Sox are definitely taking a look at these guys.....
  20. If this helps us sign Cespedes, great trade. I really have no idea how to rate the prospects...................maybe we get Madson too, who knows. Happy New Year!
  21. I think Mitchell's days as a super prospect are long gone, you never hear any discussion about him at all in KW's long or short term plans. That ankle injury was devastating.
  22. Blanke was kind of the wonder kid prospect for a year, but he thinks Smith has passed him by at Catcher.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) The main reason Ozzie disliked Swisher from what the media reported is that Ozzie felt Swisher was selfish for pouting that he was losing out on at bats to Wise while the team was in a pennant race. It was ugly between those two when Ozzie did not play him in the 2008 playoffs.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) I have to lol @ Jay Cowley starting to tweet about the Marlins and then how Danks will be a Yankee after next year, immediately after the Sox announce the extension. Someone needs some attention. His mom must not have gotten him that Christmas present he wanted. Wow, how many times are you going to hear Cowley on the Score, start a statement by staying, that I don't know why everyone thinks I hate the Sox but.... Look, if he is a Yankee in a year, we will have gotten a lot more for him with this extension so good move.
  25. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) Here's a quick list of guys I found on milb.com players searches: Dominican: Marinez, Silverio Puerto Rico: Leesman, Ozzie Martinez, Santiago, Jones, Remenowsky Venezuela: Infante, Escobar, Jose Martinez Leesman and Santiago put up OK numbers, but for the most part forgettable. Thanks for the research danman, ok, not much to get excited about.
