  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) I can't convince you that Mr. Perfect is dead, when he is Really? I've read the Mr. Perfect jokes on here before but is this really the case?
  2. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) http://bullpen-blog.com/?p=698 What a whiner. I just saw the video and it was a clean, hard slide and he was well within reach of the bag. The second baseman just didn't get out of the way in time.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:37 AM) Amazing, yet expected. True. It's not like he works in a large city for a major newspaper that would've swept these occurences under the rug with as little fanfare as possible reported these things.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) Well, no they aren't. Did you watch an episode? These fat morons are calling in their hillbilly friends to count as extra transactions. The ones I've seen they put everything into one transaction. That's how they get totals of $600+. Then they start taking the coupons off.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 06:10 PM) It's not just that. Most of the stores have rules against using a ton of coupons per purchase or making dozens of separate purchases. They're actively waiving their own coupon rules for the publicity from the show. They have to be. The stores around me have come up with the rule that they will only double two of the same coupon. So if you have 10 of the same one, only 2 will be doubled.
  6. Wasn't there a person shot just a couple of years ago right near Wrigley Field? What about the Dodgers catcher that had his hat stolen? What about the fan that charged Bob Howry at Wrigley in 2007? Or the fan that attacked Randy Myers in 1995? Amazing how all these incidents are forgotten.

Anyone else watch "Extreme Couponers" on TLC? Two things I've noticed about the people on the show. One, they have extreme OCD over coupons and keeping a constant supply of groceries in their house. Two, they don't have jobs. Mostly because they spend so much time on their coupons and shopping. I can't imagine spending that many hours each day cutting coupons and then going to the store 3 and 4 times a week for hours at a time. My wife and I use coupons but the most I think we saved on one shopping trip was around $60. We still usually end up spending $200+ for 2 weeks of groceries. These people are buying $600+ worth of groceries and paying like $10. They must have better grocery stores and better coupons.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) Eh. No idea then. Maybe he is out of options. He is. Link
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) Not if they need the 40 man roster spot for Grey. Milledge is being removed from the 40 man if he is DFA. Ah. Good point.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) I'm guessing it is a comination of Milledge having an option, most likely to not be claimed, doesn't play CF, isn't the best speedster, and we really need another pitcher. If he still has an option left they should be able to just send him down to the minors with DFA'ing him right?
  12. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) http://money.cnn.com/2011/04/04/news/compa..._jobs/index.htm McDonald's jobs are through the roof! well that sounds pretty good oh. $8.30/hour is better than $0/hour that all the people that have fallen off unemployment are making.
  13. I watched Paranormal Activity 2 last night. It was just as bad as the first one. I'm glad I only paid $1 to rent it. Waiting an hour and a half for something to finally happen in the last 10 minutes makes for a bad movie.
  14. What if Barman never interferred? I don't want to spoil the ending but...
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 1, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) Just opened up ESPN gamecast, and saw the score. 14-0? Seriously? Its football weather, I guess we need a football score. f***ing awesome. That new MLB gameday sure does look cool... too bad it doesn't actually work. Tried it on Chrome and IE, and nothing updates correctly or in a timely way. ESPN is fine. It's working in IE for me on my POS work computer.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) And his name is... Tim Lamb
  17. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) I'm interested in where you started working to gain experience. Even internships. It's tough trying to break through and I'm graduating next year for Database Management. I love doing other things in IT and IS, but DM has a lot of programming and I also want to dabble in programming if I want to do other things that are closely related. I worked at a magazine fulfillment company in a little town about 30 miles south of Rockford. They handled the subscriptions for a number of different magazines. They've since merged with another company and moved most of their operations to Florida. I think my experience was more of a "right place, right time" kind of thing. Although I did beat out 8 other candidates so I must have done something right. I was in school with two people that already worked there at the time but I didn't even find that out until after I started so I can't say if that made a difference or not. I had taken a some COBOL and RPG classes in college which were really similar to the languages they used. Plus I was only 20 at the time. So I guess they figured I would be a good person to come in, learn the company and stay a long time.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 05:22 PM) If you really want to do a tough topic, how about what you did before ESPN? Getting sports information before ESPN was next to impossible before the next morning in the paper. I've read books about this period of time... I was 2 when ESPN started and by the time I got into pro sports they were well-established.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) Same here. Harlem High School represent. I graduated in 95 but you might have known my brother-in-law.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) you must have lived in Loves Park! I did. My parents still do.
  21. Read the newspaper to find the current standings. Watch ESPN's bottom line to see who won that day. Actually having to go to the library to do any kind of research for school. Lugging out a dictionary when I couldn't remember how to spell a word. Checking the newspaper to see what movies where playing. Subscribing to Nintendo Power to get the latest game tips. Going outside and playing with my friends. Talking to people on the phone when they couldn't come over.
  22. I'm refinancing my mortgage because we are currently at 7%. The guy we are working with emailed me a bunch of documents that I'm assuming we have to fill out. A couple of them are questioning things that happened 10+ years ago. Like my wife and my previous address and her maiden name. Is this really relevant? I don't remember any of this coming up the last time we refinanced.
  23. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) Programming sucks. Somebody has to do it. Plus it pays the bills.
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 07:35 AM) Honestly, Im kind of shocked by this. Even after I received my offer for an internship last summer I was still being begged by professors and career services to apply for internships, companies were desperate for IT interns. I know that the company that hired me is increasing from 6 IT interns to 14 this summer, with only myself being carried over, so there were 13 slots open. And I am not a technical person, that is not what I am interested in and is not my specialty, and that was pretty much made clear in all of my interviews with my hiring company, they took me because of my business knowledge and leadership experiences. Most of the software/applications I used (SAP R/3, Novell IDM) were never going to be taught in the classroom anyways. The manager that pulled me from the applicant list did so because I had many other skills to offer besides being technically strong, and one thing he mentioned to me was that he can train me in whatever technical area they need to, that's what getting a 4 yr degree proves, that you can learn. Some companies look for interns just to be cheap programmers, etc, and that isn't for me. I got my first programming job 6 months before I even got my 2-year degree. I learned more about programming at that job than I ever would have in school. In fact, I learned a couple of programming languages that I never even knew existed. I think I got really lucky in the fact that the company was willing to hire and train me that early though.
  25. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) I enjoyed the game throughout, and never really had a problem finishing it. I can't wait to get back and finish up the zombie extension pack, I was having a blast with that but just ran out of time before I left. The Blunderbuss and Death (the horse) make RDR: Undead Nightmare really fun. I fell off my chair laughing the first time I shot a zombie with the blunderbuss and he disintegrated. Riding through Jorge’s Gap on Death and seeing all the exploding heads is quite funny too. Shooting zombies with the cannon at one of the forts in Mexico (can’t remember which one) is a great way to pass the time as well. Watching them flying through the air is awesome.
