  1. My asshole neighor is stirring up s*** again. There is one section of our privacy fence that has broken away and is leaning heavly into asshole's yard. Basically it would just be a matter of putting a couple of screws in it and it would be fine until we get a chance to put up a new fence. Replacing the fence is on our list of things to to but we don't have the money for it just yet. So instead of knocking on our door and telling us about it, he calls the city on us. We got a letter from the city saying our fence was in violation of some ordinance and we have 14 days to take care of it. My wife called to tell them that 14 days just isn't long enough and she was told that they don't really care. The fence has to be torn down completely. Never mind the fact that there are dogs on either side of it and the fence is the only thing keeping them away from each other or the fact that we don't have the money to put up a new one. So if I take the fence down, their dog comes over and hurts one of my kids or dogs, think I can sue the city and the neighbor? Good thing we have these elected city officials willing to work with us to make this a better place.
  2. A friend of my wife's went through bankruptcy about 4 years ago. This was right after she went through a divorce, racked up tons of credit card debt and had a house fire. The insurance paid to have the house completed gutted and re-done. So when the bankruptcy was final she basically had a brand-new house. Which she turned around and sold. This was also after she met a new guy and got re-married. He sold his house and they bought an even bigger house. Plus a couple of cars. So it obviously didn't affect her much at all.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) I've never once gotten one. I haven't even been close to getting one. My luck is just terrible. I've gotten very close. So close that I was actually reaching for the ball as it rolled down the aisle behind me and a guy two seats away grabbed it before I could. I also had a ball land a row in front of me but there were so many hands/arms going for it I didn't have a chance.
  4. I'd have to go with Buehrle's between the legs flip. We might not see another play like that in our lives. Watching it with Hawk announcing makes it that much better. "Look at the play by Buehrle! MERCY!" Although Rooney calling the final two Uribe plays to end the 05 WS are a very close second.

    Grillin?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) It's magic. Or this if you actually want to use the grill.
  6. I guess I'm glad that I've never connected my PS3 to the internet.
  7. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Do not go to an online University unless your company pays for it. Even then, if there are other options take them. At the time my company would've paid for some of it. But about halfway through the registration process I realized what a big mistake I could possibly be making and got out. Then I spent an hour on the phone with the recruiter who tried to convince me otherwise.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) Note to Self: Delete Facebook Account prior to next felony. With this guy I think it's more the fact that he wore the same clothes that he did in many of his FB pictures. My wife watches a lot of those real-life crime solving shows and I'm always amazed how many people they catch because they don't get rid of their clothes and/or shoes.
  9. Completely agree with this. I had a horrible experience with a recruiter from UoP and I never even took a single class. Here's another article. http://washingtonexaminer.com/node/80276 This seems to be more of the root of the problem though:
  10. I might be the only person here that's excited about the news that Weird Al is going to be releasing a new album soon. Just yesterday I read about the GAGA SAGA. Then there's this update today.
  11. It looks like the blonde kid just ripped one and the other two are getting a good whiff of it.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) I'm pretty sure it's still a violation of Fair Use and subject to copyright infringement, but it generally isn't worth prosecuting. I think you're only supposed to post the first and maybe second summary paragraphs, unedited, and with a link. The rule there when I left was no posting of anything. Not even part of a sentence. Just a link.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) Obviously they need to fire Greg Walker. Change a couple of names around in that article and you could be talking about the White Sox.
  14. 6 straight games without a blown save. That's positive right?
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) That doesn't make it any less bulls***. I think that's a Wes Craven thing. Look at the Nightmare on Elm St. movies.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) I wonder how the thoughts of others can be come the intellectual property of a forum database. No clue but that's the reason I'm no longer there. There are number of things they have their own version of in their minds compared to actual reality. One of them includes the reason this place exists. It's no use pointing it out to them either.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 07:26 AM) this is from a WSI interview, Mark L. from over there is an okay guy, hope it's cool to copy and paste some of it?? I doubt they'll complain about it but this is a direct quote from Daver:
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) 1st item is checking to see if you can create/write and read/understand requirements and documents and make them work for software development. Similar question sometimes asked is, "explain to a cave man how to build a car". I understand the theory behind that but who the hell knows how to build a car? The one I've usually heard is "Describe how to make a PB&J sandwich." I'm not quite sure how that's the same question as a turtle's biggest accomplishment though...
  19. What ever happened to Steff? The last I heard she had a kid and then disappeared.
  20. Just yesterday I sat down and figured this out: We are paying around $65 for the cheapest cable we can get. We can only get it on 3 TVs because we have to have these stupid little converter boxes on every TV. The first 3 are free. We'd have to pay $5 a month to get more. We get about 63 channels. Of those 63, we only watch about 20 regularly. There may be another 5 or 10 that we watch occasionally. The rest of the channels I couldn't care less about. That's roughly $2-$3 per channel. We've been thinking about switching to satellite but we're not sure we'd save much money or what channels we'd have to give up.

    2011 TV Thread

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) One of my brother's friends did this for a while, was part of a couple online communities/groups that found the best deals. Yeah, you might end up with 20 tubes of toothpaste at a time, but you'd basically be getting free groceries and you wouldn't have to buy toothpaste for quite a while. It was a lot of work though, 20 hours a week finding coupons and shopping. I actually did a little extreme couponing the last two nights. We had a bunch of coupons for kool-aid packets and a store near us had them on sale 10/$1. The first night I bought 36 of them. I had 2 coupons that were buy 10 get 5 free and 2 coupons that were buy 2 get 1 free. The cashier input the coupons manually so I saved $1.20 off of $3.60 (before tax obviously). The second night I did the exact same thing except it was a different cashier and she scanned the coupons instead. Somehow I ended up paying 63 cents with tax. Between the two nights I ended up getting 72 packets for about 4 cents a piece.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) I DO know he's dead, if that's what you're asking. It's an inside joke. OK, you had me worried there for a second.
