  1. MLB Pipeline @MLBPipeline Matthew Liberatore lived up to the hype on the big stage of the #NHSI18: 7 IP 2 R 1 H 1 BB 1 HBP 10 K 101 pitches 63 strikes This was without his best stuff or his best velocity for those that didn't watch. His pitchability was on full display here.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 04:18 PM) Thanks for posting. Interesting to see the shakeout of players, but their comments under their picks for the sox were pretty off-base. Would sox fans actually hate madrigal? If he's good you'll find a place for him. We had a pretty good view of how the championship series teams were able to just find spots for best players on field int he last playoffs. I like Madrigal plenty. I think lots of folks would get hung up on the small stature, high floor, and unflashy tools that you get with him though.
  3. Michael Lananna @mlananna 2m Replying to @mlananna Matthew Liberatore hasn't had his best stuff today, yet he's still struck out six in a row. He's a dude. If I'm drafting, I'm taking him 1-1. Polished lefty with four pitches, a fastball up to the mid-90s, generally good command, great feel and projectable. #MLBDraft
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 01:40 PM) That's 5Ks in a row now. 6.
  5. Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd 57s Mountain Ridge HS (AZ) lefty Matthew Liberatore had some 1-1 hype after a great debut, had a sharp first inning today 92-95, flashed 60 CB and 55 CH. Has been out of sorts rest of the way, mostly 89-91 getting by w/good CB. Still really talented just not up to expectations today
  6. The velocity isn't there, but the curve is. 3Ks with it that inning.
  7. Aaron Fitt @aaronfitt 20s Getting a look at No. 1 #mlbdraft prospect Matthew Liberatore at the NHSI. Laboring a bit early, not a ton of energy, not sharpest stuff/cmd - but obviously a lot to like. Great body, good angle & arm-side life on the fastball (88-92, T93-95), flashes 3 promising offspeed pitches
  8. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 12:47 PM) Its so funny watching like two dozen radar guns right behind home plate be put down after each pitch Haha I came to post the same observation.
  9. Liberatore about to take the mound.
  10. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 11:40 AM) Liberatore's team plays in the NHSI today. MLB is streaming the game. You can find the link on this page. I don't know if he is pitching, but I'll tune it to check it out. Jonathan Mayo @JonathanMayo 19m Excited to call the game w/@MLB_McMaster, @DaniWex and Flash Gordon that @libby3232 is pitching at @usabaseball's #NHSI18. Watch live here: (link: http://atmlb.com/2J14HW3) atmlb.com/2J14HW3 Liberatore is indeed pitching.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 12:08 PM) I haven't heard Beer's name in forever. What is his status these days? Late 1st round from what I've seen, with stock trending down.
  12. Speaking of position players in the draft. Five College Hitters Rising on Draft Boards: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/fiv...n-draft-boards/ I'd be okay with Bohm working into the top 5.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 10:24 AM) Fwiw, I think it was PerfectGame that said Giants are very interested in Liberatore. Also I think Kiley suggested that Madrigal wasn't a WSox type guy. Correct on Kiley's Madrigal comment. I'm still holding out hope that Swaggerty or some sort of position player forces there way into the top 5. Wouldn't mind Bohm forcing the issue.
  14. NHSI starts today. I await some current takes on Gorman who has been criticized a bit as of late.
  15. Ah draft thread. I missed you.
  16. BA bringing back the draft tracker feature. Kind of a stock up stock down report. Bi-weekly. Subscriber only. https://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2018-...arnach-helping/
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 11:08 AM) DirtySox- Who are your top 4 guys at the moment? Still super duper early and everything, but as of right now I'm something like this. 1.) Swaggerty 2.) Gorman 3.) McClanahan 4.) Liberatore 5.) Hankins This is primarily because I'm leaning position player at the moment. Swaggerty still needs to maintain his performance through the year, but the ability to stick in CF, have great plate discipline, and show improved power is what I'm banking on. I can't pass that up. Gorman is a close #1B for me though. McClanahan is still my pitching preference, especially if he starts to show some better command. Lefty that is touching 100 with improving secondaries after coming back from TJ is pretty hot. Would imagine he'd be right up the Sox alley as far as fixing what ails him on the control/command side as well. The reports that Liberatore is sitting around 96 as of yesterday has put him ahead of Hankins for me currently. Especially with the recent injury scare. I think I would have Madrigal at 6 right now. Though I wouldn't know what to do with him if he couldn't be at least an average SS.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 10:15 AM) Would you take all those guys over Gorman? That's a pretty interesting question. I certainly trust the organization in identifying and developing a pitcher they select over a position player. But at this point I feel a position player would be much more beneficial to the system and the state of the rebuild. Outside of Eloy I'm not sold on many of the top position player prospects just yet. Being able to add a slam-dunk cornerstone hitter/defender into the heart of the lineup for years to come is truly what I'm looking for right now.
  19. Michael Lananna @mlananna 8m If he's touching 96, I'm taking this dude. Was VERY impressed with what I saw from Liberatore this summer. He's got poise and control and takes an intellectual approach.
  20. Carlos Collazo @CarlosACollazo Heard Matthew Liberatore was up to 96 mph last night but settled into an above-average FB. Good control, plus changeup. Some teams likely leave that start seeing three future plus pitches between FB, CB, CH. #mlbdraft
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 11:24 PM) He's my pick in this draft as you know Dirty. 0 injury history either and a nice mix of pitches, plus a lefty and high schooler which is what we need for the farm in the second wave. My guy. Touching 97 sure is something new. Lots of reports had him in the low 90's with lots of projection. I am now more than intrigued.
  22. Eric Longenhagen @longenhagen 26m26 minutes ago Matthew Liberatore was up to 97 with a 6 curveball today. It was his first start. Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd More Kiley McDaniel Retweeted Eric Longenhagen Arizona prep lefty making a move into the top 5 picks
