  1. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 12:49 PM) Some highlights for anyone who don't want to read through the whole thing: The first three make sense and I've been hearing a lot about them, but Rolison is kind of a surprise. Rolison has been pretty dominant. Seems to have a pretty high floor, but not the ceiling of someone like McClanahan. Not my choice at 4, but i can understand the reasoning. I'd certainly prefer him to someone like Singer at this point.
  2. Kiley chat going on. Some draft questions within for those interested. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/kiley-mcdaniel-chat-2-28-18/
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 09:34 AM) Ok Dirty, ok... I've got an eye on him now. Swaggerty is bae.
  4. Teddy Cahill @tedcahill Updating Travis Swaggerty's line through eight games: .321/.537/.714, three homers, 11 walks, five strikeouts. That's a 1.251 OPS Carlos Collazo @CarlosACollazo Swaggerty's draft stock: ???
  5. Different circumstances, different injury, but all I can think about is Jared Mitchell.
  6. Forgot to post this yesterday. Kiley still sees him as a top 5 to 10 guy. Kiley McDaniel @kileymcd Sources: Oregon State 2B Nick Madrigal has a broken wrist and will be out 3-4 weeks. Is seen in the industry as the top college hitter in the draft and still has a good chance to go in the top 5-10 picks in June.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 10:09 AM) I don't think it will affect his stock too much. He'll still get to play a bit and he has so much tape on him. Yep. The prevalence of TrackMan data available on him certainly helps too. Kiley had a good quote on this. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/mlb-draft-r...-2019-and-2020/ With the White Sox certainly fitting under the "risk averse/analytic" tag, it makes me think Madrigal would still absolutely be in play. Especially if you could leverage the injury into some cost savings for later picks.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 11:00 AM) And the winner for most premature meltdown based on a spring training performance is... Game threads are in mid season form already. I'm so proud.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 25, 2018 -> 03:52 PM) So we’ve already eliminated Burger and Collins from their positions where they would have the most value at over two consecutive days, lol...next Rutherford will be a 4th outfielder. Gamethread!
  10. Yea. Thanks for the heads up. Works fine in IE. Chrome, nope.
  11. Kendall Rogers @KendallRogers 6m6 minutes ago More .@BeaverBaseball All-American Nick Madrigal had an X-ray tonight following a left hand injury. #Beavs team doctor will meet with him tomorrow. Fear is that he could miss 4-6 weeks. More tomorrow. #MLBDraft
  12. Bob Lundeberg Bob Lundeberg @The_Real_Bob · 7m Pat Casey said that Nick Madrigal is out for the rest of the weekend with a left wrist injury. #GoBeavs
  13. Singer getting hit around too.
  14. Kiley Draft Notes and Scuttlebutt. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/draft-notes...tlebutt-galore/ Also talks about how he thinks McClanahan is a 1-1 candidate.
  15. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:33 AM) I'd have him playing SS all the way up to the bigs (unless he just really shows he can't hack the position defensively) and start him there if he forces the issue. I don't see Anderson as a long term lock at SS, so if Madrigal comes in and destroys pitching while playing a good SS all the way up, trade Anderson if necessary, or make him your UTIL, his contract is okay for that. Regardless, never turn down an all-star bat that can play SS defense. Yea. I'm of this mindset too. Especially if he starts showing a bit more pop this year. The hit tool isn't in question. He wouldn't need long in the minors either.
  16. Article on Swaggerty (current crush) and Steele Walker (great name) by BA. https://www.baseballamerica.com/college/swa...qQY0OADazfy1.97 They also put out a top 10 College OF list today as well. https://www.baseballamerica.com/college/top...dy9BZOp560Ua.97
  17. Madrigal with another HR. Hitting .571 so far this year with 7 consecutive hits over his last two games.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 01:13 PM) Reading the BA chat, this stuck out I read that and think I'd prefer Turang. I think I would prefer Madrigal if scouts are convinced he could play SS long-term.

  20. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 12:30 PM) After the Sox success with Hansen, despite the control problems McClanahan's stuff is too good from the left side to ignore. Would not bother me one bit if they went with him. Yep. If they do go pitcher and he's still considered one of the few top college arms I'd be elated with the selection. Lefty that touches 100 with 2 solid secondaries with some command issues? Right up the Sox development alley. Though Swaggerty is my new crush. Still leaning position player. Hard.
  21. There will be a BA Draft Chat today. Link below. Feel free to ask some questions. https://www.baseballamerica.com/chat/?1519310975
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 06:00 PM) I just don't see the allure of giving of the 45th pick & $2M in slot value for a guy who is basically a league average player when we're still at least a year out from competing. Yep. And likely more than a season out from competing. 2 million in draft flexibility when picking this early is nothing to sneeze at either.
  23. Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB Good news on Ethan Hankins, potential No. 1 overall @MLBDraft pick. No tears in shoulder, just a muscular issue that should clear up with some physical therapy for a couple of weeks. Left his Saturday start after about 15 pitches, fastball was down to 86-94 that day.
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 12:14 PM) I think there is going to be a lot of movement with the college players this season. Jenista, Conine, Gilbert, and Rolison are all guys I'm keeping my eye on. Rolison is especially interesting in that he is a draft eligible sophomore. If he keeps up these gawdy type of numbers, he could easily sneak into the top 5. Swaggerty too. He's the one I'm keeping an eye on the most.
  25. Teddy Cahill @tedcahill 1h1 hour ago That was a left-on-left blast for Swaggerty. He's come out of the gate well this weekend for @SouthALBaseball. 3-for-9, two homers, six runs, eight walks, just one strikeout.
