  1. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) No thanks on Cecchini, at least as the centerpiece. This team lacks power, I don't want a guy who has 14 HRs total in 242 minor league games to play a power position like 3rd. I'd rather have Middlebrooks. Chicks don't dig walks. No power? He's OPSed .898, .827, 1.016 in three minor league seasons. Couple that with good defense, a discerning batting eye, a good hit tool, and you have a top 30 prospect in baseball. I can't understand why anyone would turn their nose up at Cecchini.
  2. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) Definitely feel like he wont make his start tomorrow I'd be shocked if he didn't. He's only thrown to major league hitters once since his return from the DL.
  3. Also worth noting, Kennedy being blown up again. This time by the Cubs.
  4. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) Yes. Actually. They are/were kind of similar prospects when you look at the minor league numbers. Both slugging 3B with strikeout issues. I do like the possibility of Owings being in a package too though. If I could have any 3B being talked about in this thread though, I'd go with Option C: Cecchini.
  5. I still hope Towers is waiting in the weeds, ready to send over Davidson.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) Maybe I'm being dumb, but I just don't like having a pitcher be the best part of a deal. Especially if this deal might be our only major move I will be supremely disappointed if this is the only major move.
  7. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Would Middlebrooks, Ranaudo, and Brentz be enough in people's eyes as a return for Peavy? I want no part of Middlebrooks. Yuck.
  8. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) Looks like Tim Hudson is out for the year (and career?). Have the Braves just entered the Peavy sweepstakes? Not the greatest farm. Especially position players.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) Rios for Ervin Santana? wat
  10. Whee. I can't wait for some trades to happen.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) I can't imagine they'd trade Russell. Then I'm not sure they have the pieces. Grant Green would have to be in the mix I'd imagine.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) A's could be dark horse team for Peavy says Jon Heyman. Addison Russell is a damn fine prospect despite his slow start. Big fan of Sonny Gray. Kind of tepid on Choice. Athletics are an interesting match but not my first choice.
  13. Maybe I should post this here too since the Cards guy posts in this thread. Um. Really hope this isn't accurate. Martinez would be incredible for Alexei. Hell, Sickels has him as 9th best prospect in baseball on his newly released top 75. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3745533.story

  15. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:49 PM) What do you think we would get from the Red Sox for just Peavy? Cecchini and Swihart would make me do backflips.
  16. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) I don't mean to be cryptic. You can expect some action soon. I'm crossing my fingers on some other player movement too. (Rios/Alexei/Reed?)
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) If their third rated prospect and number 41 in MLB is wishful thinking than we need to start looking elsewhere. Law has him 20. Sickels 30. I'm a big fan of his. I'd agree though, other than Cecchini the position players in that system are lackluster considering Bogaerts and Bradley aren't going anywhere. They do have plenty of really solid pitching prospects though.
  18. If Rick could pry Cecchini from Boston I would be ecstatic. Anything else would be a bonus.
  19. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) Jake to Beantown has legs. They have plenty of pitching prospects. Owens, Barnes, Webster, Ranaudo, Workman, Britton etc. I would love Cecchini but I have a feeling that it's wishful thinking. Other than that I like Swihart and Mookie. Not huge on Brentz, Iglesias, or Marrero though.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) Hawk mentioning the fans would understand trading a couple of guys and playing for 2015 pretty much makes it official what the plan is. Good. It's the right plan.
