  1. Sickels/Garrioch's latest mock had the Sox taking Trahan at 13. I don't see it him being a high schooler and all. Not unless the CBA changes has caused Kenny and Jerry to reconsider their approach to the draft. The supplemental mock had them taking Austin Madox which is very much a White Sox pick. I'd link it but I'm at work.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) That seems to be the consensus. Safe college picks with low upside, and higher upside high schoolers. When I looked at some of the players the other day, one of the higher prospects is a Stanford third baseman. That would be too Kenny. I need to find out if he played football. Hooray. My thread is back. I hope they don't pick Piscotty. Not a big fan. I still hope Stroman falls to 13 as far as college pitchers go.
  3. The draft rules have been out for a while. Neither of these pieces are about the draft. These are about international free agency/signing period.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) We can put a contending on the field product while building up our system. They can? Then why haven't they?
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) and some of you guys want a total rebuild. You think this year is fun. Just wait until we dont have much to look forward to. What exactly is there to look forward to now? The organization is not in a good spot at all. A rebuild is getting more and more inevitable.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Is it too early to question Molina as a top of the rotation prospect? No. It certainly wasn't the consensus amongst scouts. Most thought/think middle of the rotation guy. Nothing wrong with that though.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) No, and for the love of Sale, please let them tank now instead of after the deadline (if they're going to fall completely out of it). No more baseball purgatory. Hear hear.
  8. Caulfield, no idea why you have Thanos as your avatar but I approve.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) Dylan Bundy got 3 more innings for Delmarva. 1 unearned run. 1 hit, 0 walks, 8 k's. So good. I think he will end up better than Cole, Hultzen, and Bauer who were all picked before him.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) Great reason for him to complete te year in AA and then have at least half of next year in AAA before coming up, like he should. My thoughts as well. No reason to be rushing any prospects at this point.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) This could be a 1 start, big league double header caused move. I'd support that. I like Molina. Don't think he will be an ace, but more of a middle of the rotation type which is certainly valuable. I just don't really see the need to rush any of the prospects right now. Though to be fair the Sox generally have an okay handle on their pitching prospects. Much more so than position players.
  12. I think the Molina promotion is a bit premature. He wasn't exactly dominating AA. I just don't see the need to rush him.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) Every one of the pitchers you just listed is a lefty. Beat me to it.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) Is Axelrod just lobbing it up there? Is this guy for real? Is he known as a soft tosser? Wow. Yes, he's a soft tossing righty. He's not half bad when everything is working, but his margin for error is so little. He will be interesting to watch in coming starts.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2012 -> 01:13 PM) Got the Tigers feed on today. I think I've listened to Hawk one game and that was too much. He's freaking brutal and Stone, who I used to like, isn't enjoyable either. Maybe its just Hawk overflows everything but I can't stand em. Same here. I have to purchase Gameday Audio every year since Hawk makes my ears bleed. Almost anyone is a significant improvement over Hawk's embarrassing babbling. The Tigers crew aren't half bad.
  16. White Sox bullpen doesn't know who's supposed to come in to pitch. Eventually Jones emerges.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) If Eduardo Escobar is pinch hitting for you with the game on the line and its not a bunting situation, you must really suck. Yep. Even if Morel is benched/replaced, all the alternatives suck as well. I can't even feign outrage in such a situation.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 5, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) What's the alternative? There might not be one if the team continues playing poor ball and the attendance continues to be dreadful.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ May 5, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) It prob has to do with the fact that losing and rebuilding are no fun. I'm okay with it. I'd enjoy a clear cut direction in building for a better and more sustainable future versus being stuck in .500ish purgatory for many years. Though I'm someone who will watch the Sox good or bad.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) We really don't have a competitive team this year with Axelrod being placed into the rotation. The sooner you come to realize that, the easier it is to accept. Hope for Beckham and Viciedo to prove they can actually start in the majors...and that's about the only reason to watch anymore. Yep. It seems many people still have high expectations for this team for some reason. The saving grace of Sale to the bullpen is the fact that it will likely push Kenny (or his replacement) to fully commit to a rebuild instead of this stuck in between nonsense.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) How's he been defensively this year? He's been pretty damn good against the Sox. He's been just fine in all aspects other than his range. That's the only knock on him really.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2012 -> 05:17 PM) OK, Keith Law wannabe. I'm as disappointed as everyone. Rather angry at the clown shoes decision as well. Bitter snark is perfectly justified.
  23. That's okay. He can be replaced by one of the plethora of young high upside arms the Sox have in the minors.
