  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) flowers looks heavy Looks the same as always to me. He's always been a large man.
  2. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) I wasn't paying that much attention, but Molina seemed less than impressive. I wasn't impressed with the stuff either. It follows the scouting report though. Strike thrower with an average repertoire, but with great control and command. Still need to see way more of him though. Assessments made in spring training should always be taken with a grain of salt obviously.
  3. Sickels and Matt Garrioch have their first combined mock draft up. This is largely for fun and obviously holds no merit whatsoever this early on. Stroman is an intriguing pitcher who fits the mold of a White Sox pick. College power arm that needs to refine his third pitch. Was a closer in previous season, but is now starting. Could easily be fast tracked as a reliever and thus should have some use if he doesn't pan out as a starter. At this point in time if they go college arm, I'd prefer Chris Beck who they have going 3 picks later to the A's.
  4. Aaron Fitt ‏ @aaronfitt Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Ga Southern updated Victor Roache: Left radius fracture associated w/ wrist/forearm ligament injuries. Surgery on 3/1. Expect full recov.
  5. Duke's Marcus Stroman put on a show today. Like most college pitchers, he's certainly a White Sox draft candidate. John Manuel ‏ @johnmanuelba Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Stroman hits 94 on pitch 102, his 74th strike, then get K No. 17 on pitch 106. Best single-game K effort on #ACC we think is 18 John Manuel ‏ @johnmanuelba Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Stroman is officially done. 7 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 17 strikeouts, 76 strikes in his 106 pitches. #Duke leads George Washington 11-0 in 8th #ACC
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Scott Merkin ‏ @scottmerkin Don't completely rule out Nestor Molina for a bullpen job, although he really would have to be dominant over next month No.

  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) In the end, rushing Santos isn't go to help at all...we have Santiago, Leesman (maybe), Axelrod, Castro, Petricka and not to mention Josh Stewart who should be provided opportunities to show what they can do before we're "forced" to go to Molina. I hope so. Petricka is further away than Molina. Otherwise I agree.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) If we're in a position where Molina needs to save the big league roster, then we're not that good. Molina should be behind Stewart, Axelrod, Castro, and maybe others in terms of being the replacement guy. I know he's special, but Stras has a hard 170 or so inning limit they said they'd enforce even if they were right there for the division. We are on the same page. There is really no reason for this kid to be rushed. There are plenty of other filler arms that should be called up instead to throw what will largely be irrelevant innings in 2012.

  11. I loathe Hawk. He's an embarrassing clown of a hack. I can't wait for the day he's gone.

  13. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...9267,full.story Mod care to split this into a draft thread? If not I'll throw one together tomorrow. Already have one at WSI, but there is little interaction there.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Isn't "taking a guy in the 2nd who fell out of the first" what people would really like the Sox to do? Potentially. I'm no doctor, but I'm somewhat leery of a broken wrist on a player who's calling card is his power. Depending on the severity of the injury, I'd wager he's picked up by a team with an abundance of picks. Maybe Oakland. He's a prospect not all that different from Choice who they took in 2010. I still think the Sox will continue the trend of college pitching with their 1st rounder. That might be for the best due to their inability to develop legitimate position players.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) I know the Sox are projected and expected to take a pitcher with the #13 overall pick, but I can't help but think Kenny is licking his lips if this guy falls to #13..... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/924427-...andings/page/11 He just looks like someone we would typically draft. Victor broke his wrist yesterday. Likely to miss the entire season. Someone make a draft thread already!
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) I almost want to throw the "I'd ban myself" cliche post for Morel hitting 30 homers in a season. I just can't see it happening in the game today. Agreed. I was certainly amused by the article though.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) Yes, he's not going to be a 30 home run hitter, and he only hit like .230 during September. The power surge was nice but he needs to achieve some balance. Brent Morel is the next next Jose Bautista!
  18. I'm changing my answer to 2015. Not even close to happening this season. I also think Kenny is going to be forced to reload even further which pushes back the time table even more requiring development time for newly acquired prospects. Couple that with the Tigers in their prime for the near future, I don't see the Sox doing much for a few seasons.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Really, they have blood testing now? Yay! http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/st...-HGH/53224890/1
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) Huh? Probably referring to the bandage on his arm. I'd imagine from HGH testing which is reportedly requiring players to have 7 vials of blood drawn. Many players are complaining about it and how it's making them sick and feel like s*** well afterwards.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) Theo just kicked his dog. Why? With the new CBA he's as limited in international spending as everyone else is.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 19, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Which is scary. He has 22 IP above A ball and now the pressure is on to pitch in the majors leagues. Let the guy develop. He has 292 career IP. This. It's ridiculous that people are okay with it other than perhaps a September call-up. Hopefully Kenny is just blowing smoke. Let these prospects develop in the minors. No need to continue to rush prospects, especially in a rebuilding year.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) MLB Whispers: White Sox could outbid Cubs for Soler The Chicago Tribune speculates that the White Sox could overspend to ''make a deal happen'' with Cuban outfielder Jorge Soler. Have a good evening, fellas. I'm going out to get s***faced with the family. This should get you all going. Do it. If you are going to overspend on something it might as well be on this before the CBA changes. Not like it makes sense to spend it on whatever's left in the free agent market.
