April 11th Game Thread White Sox versus Athletics
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) He's playing the "Have to protect his arm" card. f***ing apologist mouthpiece. Buehrle goes out there, gets three outs on 12 pitches, and we all go home happy. Dude is unlistenable.

April 11th Game Thread White Sox versus Athletics
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Thornton threw an 0-2 hanging curveball down the middle. That isnt the Matt Thornton of last year. It was his slider. The one he hardly throws because it is bad. He doesn't have a curveball.

4/10 Games
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Kanny and Lakewood tied 0-0 in the 15th inning. Blanke finally wins it with a 2 run HR in the 16th.

4/10 Games
QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Dash won 4-2 Mitchell 0-5, 4 K. Yikes Yikes indeed. The K-rate is certainly a concern with Mitchell.

Petricka's final line: 6.0 IP 0 H 1 BB 9 SO I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the system's top prospect this year. Though there really isn't much competition at this point.

I don't see a 4/10 games thread, but Petricka is mowing them down. So far, 5.0 IP 0 H 9 SO 1 BB http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kanafx_lwdafx_1

4/8/11 - Sox vs. Rays - 7:10 (WCIU)
QUOTE (cws0591 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) thanks i thought he had a decent slider in the past but i did not want to look foolish. He does have a slider. It's not very good though, and he hardly ever uses it. He only threw it 6.8% of the time last year.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) I remember when AJ coming to the plate didn't immediately make me hate him. But, the intangibles! The grindiness! Everything else is irrelevant.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Perhaps they can just use the Felix rule with Griffith...don't let him throw the slider. It would make him work that much harder on the change, and if he doesn't completely lose the slider, it may make him into a dangerous pitcher down the road. I thought I read that he abandoned the slider entirely?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) Go start your own message board where everyone has to be positive 100% of the time. Oh wait they already have one called WSI. Hey now. The sky has been falling in our gamethread too.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) Absolutely no excuse to have Pierre as the DH when Lastings has showed no defensive ability this season. Also, might be time to stop letting Butler beat us with an open base. Lastings has never shown much defensive ability. Just wait until his adventures in CF!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Wow, Milledge is terrible defensively. Indeed. And this isn't a new development. Today's corner OF spots are downright scary.

2011 Minor League Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) Imagine having season tickets and knowing that KW Jr. could possibly get 500 at bats. I mean even the players who are worth following aren't all that exciting. A 25 year old Nathan Jones, a few relief pitchers in Infante, and Remenowsky, a fringy Brandon Short, and a very questionable catcher in Phegley. I'm genuinely curious if there is less prospect-laden club at the AA level this season. Pray for Mitchell to destroy W-S to earn a promotion I suppose.

2011 Minor League Catch-All Thread
Not sure I agree with Eduardo in Charlotte. Despite a decent showing in the AFL, his line in Birmingham wasn't all that inspiring. Why rush a guy who is clearly blocked at SS right now? Also, the Birmingham roster is absolutely dreadful from a prospect standpoint. Yuck.

Not a great feeling about the KC series...
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) With how good the Royal farm system is, if I were a fan of theirs I would want to blow this season to get another high pick for when these guys come up next year. As would I. And I fully expect it to happen. The rotation is abysmal.

Not a great feeling about the KC series...
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) KC is a much more rounded out team this year... a bit under the radar. They could easily be .500. Well rounded? The pitching is awful. I fully expect a top 5 pick for them in the 2012 draft.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) What's with the WHITE SOX RESIGN DEXTER CARTER thread? Have the mods disabled it because it's not true or something? No, it's because the thread already exists in the minor league forum.
