  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Franciso Lindor to the Cubs gathering steam. That'd actually be a nice pick. Worry about what you do with he and Castro later. Many seem to worry that he is going to outgrow SS. Shifting him over to 2B is absolutely in the realm of possibilities.
  2. QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Funny how a couple weeks ago, we were really looking forward to the Mariners arrival. Their lineup is still terrible, though they've been hot lately. I'm still convinced that rotating Jack Crust, Adam Kennedy, and Miguel Olivo in the cleanup spot is not a winning formula. I do like the new left fielder Peguero, he's got a lot of power but ks a lot. Pretty sure we'll have to wait to tomorrow to see him, as he sits against lefties. The Mariners have gone 15 - 5 since dumping Milton.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) On MLB Network, Harold Reynolds just compared Bubba Starling to Griffey and A-Rod. Quite the compliment. The tools are ridiculous and thus so is the ceiling. He's very raw though. A very risky pick, but the payoff could be huge.
  4. Hopefully the Sox actually sign their early-ish picks this year. Especially considering they don't have a 1st round pick to spend on. Not signing Grimes, Terry, or McDonald last year kinda sucks when the farm desperately needs talent.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Ozney is a quality prospect. I have no problem drafting him (as long as it is in an appropriate round). Do you have any information on Ozney? Has his stock really risen that much? He was absolutely considered a "meh" prospect last year by most sources. I recall it vividly.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Kevin_Goldstein I have darts and can throw them. RT @whitesoxski: BP's @Kevin_Goldstein's mock draft is up. For #WhiteSox: Kes Carter, OF, Western KY http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=14156 You can read about him at the end.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) I know it won't. And that mock I saw was from like 3 weeks ago. He'll probably end up with the Royals. You know how badly their farm is lacking. As far as comparisons go, the best one I've heard was Drew Stubbs with more plate discipline. Supposedly the Royals are lukewarm on Starling. Much of the connection is just because he's a local boy and it's severely overstated. They are all over college pitching or Bundy who is just about as polished.
  8. Goldstein's final mock draft is posted. It also has shot in the dark predictions for teams without a 1st round selection. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=14156
  9. I'm excited to see Pineda for the first time. Dude is a stud.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Read on Motown sports that the Tigers plan to be very active at the deadline if they're in it (they obviously will be). And unlike us, they've got some attractive assets. I was just about to post this. I believe Leyland and DD are pretty much playing for contract extensions at this point, so expect significant activity. They do indeed have some pieces, but their system isn't that stellar aside from Turner. Though Turner could net them something big.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Not to mention Humber is not the second coming. Indeed. The regression is on its way as evidenced by many peripherals.
  12. Ouch. Horrible timing.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) This has been pretty much the case for 5-6 years, no? Whoever we draft first instantly becomes the organization's top prospect. Right, but there is larger disparity in talent when selecting in the 1st round versus the supplemental round. If Sale was still in the minors, or Dayan was still prospect eligible I don't think it would be a possibility. I was more so confounded about who the Sox top prospect is right now. No one apparent player has cemented themself in that regard. You have a whole bunch of kinda intriguing prospects and a whole bunch of fringe.
  14. With the talent available in this year's draft class combined with the deplorable state of the farm system, would anyone be surprised if the system's top prospect is whoever is drafted at 47? Remember, Dayan no longer has rookie eligibility and isn't considered a "prospect" in most cases. Pondering a White Sox top prospect list right now is rather depressing.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) Please don't let the Royals get Hultzen or Bauer. The general consensus is they want and will likely receive Bauer. The long toss issue was way overblown. Quite a few people also believe he is the best pitcher in this class. I like him second to only Cole. The Royals really need some fast moving starting pitching. Duffy has made the leap, but Montgomery is struggling, Lamb is having TJ surgery, and Odorizzi while performing well, is still far away. I'm still surprised that Dayton has missed the boat on trading Soria before this year's meltdown. He could have brought back some fine young arms to bolster the system.
  16. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) If you think that's bad, Dylan Bundy's supposedly asking 6 years $30m, and Archie Bradley 5 years $20m. Neither will get close to that much. Yep. Happens every year. Posturing.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) The only way you're getting anything of significant value is to target something unexpected at low A with a real high failure rate but that you've got a scout who really likes. Edwin Jackson is firmly entrenched with a Type B Elias ranking and will assuredly be offered arbitration by the team he's on (see Boras). The Sox will be looking for talent at least equivalent to a supplemental pick.
  18. keithlaw keithlaw Nothing. He's not in their mix. RT @srtst1: @keithlaw anything on these reed to astros at 11 rumors? 33 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 12:11 AM) I was unaware. That sucks. He can throw baserunners out alright, but his career passed ball rate is just terrible. Reports on his catching abilities have never been kind. Probably won't matter if he can hit though, which is a big if.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) Still don't like the pick. As it was pretty clear they could've waited. But that is indeed impressive. Nor do I. I also don't think most people are aware of how bad a catcher Phegley is.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) Boston already hit a homerun last year on Ranaudo who slid massively due to some concerns but had just massive talent. Yep, and they would be willing to do it again. Theo was quoted saying they are prepared to spend plenty this draft because of the uncertainty of any changes that might arise this off-season in the CBA.
