White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
I've been fishing off of Seattle twice, it's really an awesome experience. I suggest anyone who visits that region to go give it a shot.

We now control our own destiny
QUOTE (Nokona @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) Its 5 dude We could very well be within 1 or 2 by the time Detroit comes to town with the way the two teams have been playing lately.

The Official Put the Voodoo Devil Curse on the Tigers Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) We'll probably end up losing most of those anyways. Right. Our next game is against Kazmir, who we've already knocked the s*** out of this season and Ian Snell, who has been garbage all year. After that we possibly have Peavy going, it's very possible for us to win our next three and it's equally possible for the Tigers to lose two of their next three. That happens and we're three games back with 6 left against them, they just got swept by the royals and now the Blue Jays are thumping them, the Tigers are burning out just as we're heating up.

The Official Put the Voodoo Devil Curse on the Tigers Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) Still means we have to sweep the Tigers twice...lol. Since the other games we're playing don't mean anything or affect the standings.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) Lets just go undefeated. I guess that could work.

Joe Crede Possibly Retiring
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) Wow, just wow. He didn't hit too many pop ups when it counted in 2005. My god. Just because a player played well in the 2005 post-season doesn't magically morph them into some demi-god of baseball. Crede was a below-average offensive 3rd baseman with a plus glove. Was he a good player for us? Yes. Stop treating him like he's Pujols or something, people.

5th Starter in 2010?
I don't personally like the idea of putting Hudson in the 'pen, how can we be sure that he's capable of pitching on consecutive days or that he'll warm up quickly, he could overstress his arm and end up injuring himself, which is the last thing we need for the kid? I say AAA or MLB rotation for Huddy, let him be insurance in case Freddy f***s up or some one gets injured.

Boston announcers
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) Just curious! Have you or anyone else ever heard Seattle announce Rick Rizzs. In the late 60's early 70's, I grew up a few houses away from him in a little town called Calumet Park Ill. A few years back, during a Sox game the camera pointed to Seattle's booth and Hawk mentioned Rick as being a south side Chicago home boy. When we were kids, Rick dreamed of being an announcer. Does anybody know how he does as an announcer? I've never had the chance to hear him. Thanks! I've heard him, I grew up around the Seattle area. I like his home run call, "Goooobyeee baseball!"

QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) Let's hope it won't come down to getting a save. Three inning save.

Red Sox @ White Sox, 7:11PM, WCIU
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) Hudson threw 24 pitches. 17 strikes. That's pretty good control. Left too many soft pitches high for my liking.

Red Sox @ White Sox, 7:11PM, WCIU
QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) Even out? Seriously? Nix has a .951 OPS against lefties and a .650 OPS against righties. That's an extraordinarily large difference - not usually something that "evens out over time." As for your opinions regarding the two of them defensively, I guess we'll just agree to disagree. The original reason Nix was on the team was due to his defensive prowess. Nix has had amazing UZR numbers, scoring a 5.0 on RngR, 4.7 on UZR and 15.8 on UZR/150 at second. Getz has been below average: -2.3 RngR, -2.8 UZR, -3.3 UZR/150

FIRE OZZIE
If Ozzie goes, we all know Joey Cora is going to replace him. Do you really want that?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) Dye is such bulls*** right now. Its not that he is slumping, its that he just swings for himself every damn time. It's like the guy is incapable of knocking in a run with less than two outs.

Game Thread
Why is Dye so f***ing horrible in these situations?

Red Sox trying to give it to us. Fun to see another team have these issues.

Contreras to pen; Peavy to start Saturday
The sox website says that it's being broadcast on WGN as well.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
Yeah. I would guess that Thome and Quentin would lose the most playing time.
-
Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
I would guess that Rios would play at least 5 days a week, giving one of Pods, Q, JD, Thome & Konerko a day off every day.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) Retherford, Shelby and Ely or Shirek. I don't want to part with Morel, but he'd be the limit as far as I would go in giving up quality. Several others are untouchable in this instance, clearly. Eh. Maybe replace Ely with Leesman. I don't want to give that guy up, he really knows how to pitch.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
Rest Pods and JD once a week, Thome and Q! twice, Alex plays 6 days a week in CF.

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
If Gordon Beckham disagrees with you, it is because you are wrong.
