  1. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) thank god definitely time to go in a new direction, especially when our staff has been known to dislike pitching to him I wonder if public testamonials from pitchers will surface now that AJ is gawn
  2. Opportunity of a lifetime?
  3. Sorry for the confusion. I should have said I hope his Twitter comments will continue to be posted on this board by another member.
  4. Sounds like this kid has a great attitude, and we know he has great wheels. If he has no setbacks, he might get as high as AAA next season. I hope he continues to give updates via SoxTalk.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 08:25 AM) Seems like an odd move. He was added to the 40-man roster, which he'd have to think meant he had a decent shot of seeing the majors this year. Well, good luck Charlie! 40-man goes down by 1 if this is true. Very odd move. I have been to both Seoul and Charlotte, and I'll take Charlotte. He must think that a year over there will do more for his career than a year in AAA. Of course, I have no idea about the money over there...
  6. Upton played very well against the Rockies the last 2-3 years, for whatever that's worth.
  7. This looks like a good move. He might not be an all star, but he smacks of being a legitimate Major Leaguer, which is step up.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) It would be an interesting experiment in advanced statistics to get as much of a team like that, and see how the offense produced over the course of a season. .....as interesting as a last place team could be.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 1, 2012 -> 06:25 AM) what do you guys think happened to Phil? permanent anxiety after throwing the PG, or do you think it was a lingering injury? David Letterman.
  10. Rockettes prob reluctant to trade for a curve ball pitcher. Remember Darrell Kyle?
  11. I said this somewhere before, but the Rockettes have a couple of guys who can play third AND hit, and they are desperate for pitching. Nelson and LeMehieu (sp). Pacheco, too, but he would be more expensive.
  12. Pagon is prob looking for leverage vs Giants..
  13. Rangers did make the official qualifying offer to Hamilton, so they will get a draft pick.
  14. If we sign him, we still lose another #1 draft pick, I believe.
  15. Which was worse last season, the Bristol team or the Bristol weather?
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) Michael Young is owed $16 million next year, is bad defensively, and his OPS was .014 higher than Beckham's. Other than that, he's a great idea . Plus, Young would veto any trade to ChiSox.
  17. If he has a good spring training, Sox will have a tough decision to make on Sanchez.
  18. I see where Tekotte is on the 40 man roster, can't remember if Kloess was or not.
  19. QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) Since a decent 3rd baseman seems so hard to come by, I'm thinking that we may have to think outside the box a little and go the route of a converted retread. I mean like a player who can no longer play shortstop very well, but could still hit a little bit. We did this with Juan Uribe a few years back and while not ideal, it was a better solution than what we have now. I've been trying to think who this could be but I'm sure I could use the help of others who know the rest of the league better than I do. Most of the names that I have come up with I'm not even sure where they are at right now, or if they can still play, or hit at all. Juan Uribe Christian Guzman Alex Gonzales Rafael Furcal Jayson Nix ??? I'm sure that some of these names are laughable, but I have no idea where they are at. Maybe find a shortstop off of the minor league free agent list who is blocked by someone on the major league team. Just trying top come up with ideas. Marco Scutaro of Giants now a FA. He played third while Panda was hurt.
  20. BoSox signed Ortiz for 2 yrs, making slightly less than Dunn.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) I assume this is a joke, right? Mark Tracy is a 24-year-old 22nd-round draftee who has played three seasons of A Ball, with an OPS never higher than .758, as a 1B/DH. And it looks like he's only played in parts of those seasons, either due to injury or being a bench guy. In any case, he's actually less "legitimate" than KW Jr was, amazingly enough. They made the trade to get rid of the distraction and clear a path for more talented OF players in the Sox system. They offered him around, and this was probably the best they could get for him. He also happens to be a Chicago area kid. Not a joke, just a simple statement. Actually he is 27, but his last three years were at AAA level where he hit in the .260 range with power and defense. That makes him a legitimate albeit journeyman minor league player. KW, Jr has never got out of the .250's at any level, has little power, never played above AA (for good reason), and is a year younger than Tracy. Sorry if I struck a nerve.
  22. Sox need hitters more than anything. Speed would not hurt. If the team we have now is the team we will have next summer, it will be one of the worst offensive teams in the majors.
  23. Tracy is a legitimate minor league player. KW, Jr. probably is not.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) Saying Adam Dunn is untradeable is just plain wrong. Who would want him at $28 large over 2 yrs?
