  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) This is absolutely the worst offensive Sox team in a very long time. Of course, they'll keep the same lineup for tomorrow I'm sure. and next year.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:29 PM) Babip in my mind is a dumb stat. Keppinger was put in positions to succeed as that is a Tampa focus. The white sox plug guys in and off they go. When was the last time they ever had a platoon situation? Jungle Jim Rivera and Jim McAnaney in right field in 1959.
  3. Just because AJ gave Reed a dirty look does not mean Reed threw at him. But, AJ still had the look after the game.
  4. Chris Nelson traded to Yanks.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) How good you are has nothing to do with what kind of leader you are. I don't think so.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) ADA! Seems like Washington made a huge mistake leaving the starter in so long. Washington waaay overated as manager.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2013 -> 07:54 PM) Nothing. Major trades aren't made in may. Is Peavy for 2-3 prospects who can hit considered a major trade?
  8. Gillaspie certainly a better hitter than Keppinger.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2013 -> 06:48 PM) Makes me think trading Peavy at mid-season before he wears down in the 2nd half wouldn't be the worst possible thing in the world, because he gets the Sox the highest amount back in return. Especially a contending NL team, maybe the Rockies or DBacks, that need another veteran pitcher to get them over the hump. Nobody else would get much back. What do you think Peavy would bring in a trade in the next 30 days -- assuming he keeps pitching well in his next 5-6 starts? I don't mean specific names, of course, but what kind of prospects? Someone like what the Braves gaves us a few years ago, or someone who is ready to be brought up to majors? The Red Sox are in first place and are loaded with prospects who can hit (unlike us). Peavy should make the BoSox drool.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 1, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) Jeff Keppinger, you are terrible, sir. Wonder if he always had that open stance......
  11. Unfortunately, our pick in 2014 will be much higher than our 2013 pick.
  12. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) All Earley seems to need is a chance to play. He hit all of last year and seemed to drive in a lot of big runs. Doing the same this past week. Right!! If Hawkins had numbers like that at W-S, FSB woould be going crazy.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) How can one stand by their stance. If they are in a stance, then they are in fact standing, and cannot stand next to their stance. What comes first, standing or the stance?
  14. You guys don't remember Gus Zernial.
  15. How did he look in his one AB Tues nite?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Teams do this all of the time. It is how a deal like Soptic for Gillaspie happens. Soptic, by the way, is struggling slightly with Giants' High A Team. Yes, I know it is early.
  17. Rockies just DFA'd 3B Chris Nelson. Good ball player, Mr. Hahn.
  18. Tampa 3B Longoria is a stud. Everytime I see him I think back to when he was drafted and the Colorado Rockies had a shot at him, but they passed and took some pitcher # 1, and he never panned out. When questioned about it a few years later, Rockie's GM Dan O'Dowd admitted his mistake and explained that he passed on Longoria so that he would not hurt the feelings of Ian Stewart, who was then a highly regarded prospect. Don't know how he (O'Dowd) kept his job. Tampa, of course, took Longoria on the very next pick.
  19. If Hahn doesn't have the ovaries to get rid of Dunn, at least put him on the DL for 2-3 weeks and see what happens.
  20. FWIW, The Cleve announcers said the Sox lead the majors in swings and misses.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) There's not a lot of justification for some of these guys greatly improving right now. Dunn is basically a lost cause, even though his numbers will likely improve. Dunn is getting nowhere near a career average in anything important. Keppinger looks awful, hasn't walked yet either. Viciedo coming back from injury and swinging at everything that doesn't bounce (and some that do), Beckham same thing and not a good hitter when healthy unless he goes back in time. Just a bad lineup right now. Even if it improves a bit, which it will, it's still bad. Agreed. Plus Konerko and Alexi are obviously on the downside of their careers. This is one of the worst offensive teams in years. I hope they can draft somone who can make it to the majors in a year or two.
  22. That ball four to Reynolds was a horrible pitch, then the defense turned it into a little league affair. At least they got the run down executed for the last out.
  23. QUOTE (floridafan @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) Hope to see Grabe playing soon. What's his status?
  24. No one ever talks about Ryan Kussmaul at B'ham. He gets people out but soesn't seem to pitch more than once a week or so. Of course, I have never seen him pitch, and no other team drafted him last off-season when they could have.... ERA still at zero.
