  1. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Just make Adam Dunn go away please. Waivers or DFA?
  2. Top of the Wash batting order much too tough for Sox this week.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:55 PM) Needed innings from Dylan, not mad at Robin. Taking out your starter in the fourth inning is tough business. Shame on Dylan for throwing over the middle of the plate so much. Hope this is the last we see of him this year. Not with a 12 man staff. No one is overworked (yet).
  4. If these teams played ten straight games, Nats would win them all.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) With MLB.TV on the PS3, I get to hear a lot of announcers. It's like a breath of fresh air, listening to people who are younger than 100 years old talk about the game and reference players from the 90s, and have conversations that engage me that I haven't heard a million times before - Hawk doesn't do this. Hawk's schtick - I am finally tired of it. You could just have a Hawkbot at this point and really have no idea he wasn't actually there. Cue up his catch phrases and have someone record player names in his voice. As for Stone, I think he's brilliant, and with the right sportscaster he can be great, but with Hawk it just doesn't work. The reason is simple - no one with Hawk will work. He always turns it into a dick measuring contest, cuts the other broadcaster off, and winds up telling me about some garbage player from the Red Sox in the late 60s. The tv feed needs a breath of fresh air, and someone who went to broadcasting school, a real broadcaster, doing the play by play, and then save the homerism and the baseball references for a guy like Frank Thomas to be the color analyst. I have spent my entire lifetime listening to Hawk. I have laughed at his calls for years. I have yelled "HE GAWN" "STRETCH" "HEEYEEESSS" "DAT GUMMIT" "YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPIN' ME" - I have enjoyed it. (not so much the "HELL YEAH" though) I am so f***ing ready for it to end and to finally have an on screen duo that entertains me. Let the flaming begin. You're not suggesting that Frank Thomas went to breadcasting school, are you?
  6. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 05:31 PM) Axelrod's stuff is so bad it's literally boring to watch. He's just throwing junk up there, I have no idea what Hector did to Robin/Coop to make them banish him to the pen... Do you want junk? I saw Jeff Francis of rockies pitch against Giants yesterday. That was junk. Makes Ax look great.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) The shame will be doing nothing with Rios' career renaissance....but we just have to tread water and hold the fort down. 1) Make determinations on Beckham and Flowers for the future. 2) See if Viciedo progresses. 3) See how many of the bullpen arms can be counted on, and that's always hit or miss (see Veal's disappointing start). 4) Mostly...wait on Sanchez, Thompson, Walker, Mitchell and Hawkins, maybe DiMichele. 5) Develop at least one more starting pitcher 6) Get back the old John Danks (crosses fingers) #4. Waiting on Walker, Thompson, and Mitchell...... will be a very long wait.
  8. I think the Sox should carry one less pitcher and one more position player, especially since we will be having interleague games throughout the season. Why do we need 12 pitchers?
  9. Gio had a solid minor league development pattern when we threw him in the Oakland-Swisher deal. He was major league ready when Oakland got him. Bad trade, I hated it immediately, but that's old news. But, speaking of that trade, has anyone picked up Ryan Sweeney after the Bosox cut him last month?
  10. Washington announcers were kind to Robin for not taking him out, making a couple of excuses for him before LaRoche's home run.
  11. If Grabe's dad is still posting here, could we get an update on his immediate future? Tks.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) If putting ads on the outfield walls leads to more revenue I'm all for it. SoxTalk should put an ad out there...
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) They also got .600 out of 3B, but that doesn't take away from Youkilis's all around production. He wasn't a savior by any means, but he was absolutely worth everything the Sox gave up in prospects. Who did Sox give up for Youk?
  14. Has anyone heard anything on 3B Ravelo? Did he fix whatever problems he had last year?
  15. I see several reasons for Opening Day optimism. We should be significantly improved in LF and 3B. I expect Viciedo to have a big year. No major drop-offs elsewhere. Robin is a year wiser.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 06:45 AM) We're literally overloaded on middle of the rotation to bottom of the rotation pitchers, and we spent FA money on a better starter. I assume you mean Peavy, or are you referring to the recent Sale extension? No argument. Back to Lohse, I wonder how much good agent Boros did for Lohse. He was certainly looking for more money than the Brewers gave him. I can't remember what the Cards offered Lohse/Boros.
  17. Great article, Flavum. Thanks. I'm surprised there wasn't more conversation here on Lohse. Never saw any evidence that Sox were interested, so I guess they were not. And speaking of lost number 1 picks, I still wish we had not given up a #1 for Dunn. That unknown player would have had 2 seasons of pro ball by now.....
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) Purcey stinks. How did he get a normal number assigned to him? Johnson should have been 41. Who is Purcey? Never heard of him before ST.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) Me too, how do I go about doing that without actually going to Vegas? Get a local a bookie or find someone who is going to Vegas. Or just make a friendly wager with a buddy.
  20. Players Association would have to approve it.
  21. Vegas over/under for Sox is 80.5 wins. Detroit 93.0 KC 78.5 Minn 69 Clev 79.5
  22. Rogers once claimed that KW was offended when Rogers criticized him after the trading of Kip Wells and Josh Fogg to the Pirates for that right hander who couldn't get anyone out. So Kenny wouldn't talk to him for a while. When was that trade? 2002?
  23. Whenever I hear of Furcal, I recall his back injury, which sounds like it was very similar to Morel's, and that Furcal (like Todd Helton) had it surgically fixed and Brent chose not to, and now he is looking at being sent down or cut. If he had had the surgery, he would have likely been ready to go by now.
  24. I read on PHT that Hawkins will start the season with the Dash. Is this a done deal?
  25. Has Blake Tekotte played yet?
