  1. His best moment in 2012 was when he imitated Peavy in that interview.
  2. Can you win it two years in a row? I guess not. Dunn might be eligible to win it again in 2014.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 20, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) These players have nothing in common Sure they do. They are all in sharp decline. Jones knows it and admits it, even if you don't.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 07:50 AM) Salt River 12, Peoria 9 Wilkins: 2-5, 2B, 2 K, RBI, R Tr Thompson: 1-4, BB, K, R Ta Thompson: 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K Wilkins continues to do well down there. Taylor Thompson looking good so far too, 5 K vs 1 BB in 4 IP, and a GO/FO ratio of 4:1. I saw where the Reds' Billy Hamilton stole three bases in that game.
  5. I think that Rios was adversely affected by Ozzie in 2011. No proof, just what I think. I was down on both Dunn and Rios in 2011, hated both acquisitions. But Rios has my respect now. He should be solid in RF in 2013. Dunn??? I said earlier that I can't think of any team that would take him. Still can't.
  6. I don't know who Sox will go after in the FA market, but I sure hope it is NOT Josh Hamilton.
  7. Sox announced some tinkering with the roster, including promoting/activating Anthony Carter.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) The White Sox. I don't understand the love shown for Beck. Age is 22-23 with modest stats in Pioneer League.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) Just so we get this clear Jake's option is $22M. Buyout is $4M. What were the Pads thinking of when they gave him that deal? Blows my mind.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 09:05 AM) No, it's based on the average salary of the top 125 players, which is something around $12M. It no longer has anything to do with the player's previous salary. Thanks for that info. However, I still think the Sox would/should offer AJ a deal at that amount -- whatever it takes to qualify. It would just have to be for one year, right? AJ would probably turn it down for a multi year deal elswhere; then we get the draft pick. I think. If AJ takes it, then we don't have to look elsewhere for another catcher. Could be worse.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) Who are big market teams in the AL that need a DH? Baltimore? Boston? Boston still has Ortiz, who had a great year, albeit shortened by injuries. He played in a little over half the games in 2012. Baltimore?? Can't say either way. but it's unlikely they absorb a contract like Dunn's. If they had a choice between Dunn and Johnson, they would prob take Johnson.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) Under the new CBA, a qualifying offer has to be something like $12M, which isn't happening. Only player the Sox might get a pick for is Peavy. Hickory, are you sure about that? I know the new CBA changed the rules on draft picks from mid season trade acquisitions (like Youk), but for players like AJ, I thought it was still based on 2012 salary, which was in the $5mm range.
  13. At least we can get a draft pick for AJ, right?? Make him a qualifying offer, which is based on his 2012 salary, and we get the pick, probably a sandwich pick between rounds 1-2. Although, I hope we do sign him. Can you guys think of any other compensatory potential draft picks that we can get?
  14. Even tho Dunn had a much better year in 2012, is he really tradable? I don't think so. Who would take him?
  15. I don't see the high ranking for Beck given his age (22) and stats.
  16. If Dunn goes 0 for 11 in the Cleveland series, his average will fall below .200.
  17. The White Sox remind me of out Ryder Cup team, and vice versa.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) I tuned into the game late. Why did Floyd only go 5? Numbers look good in the box score. 5 walks, lots of pitches for 5 innings.
  19. oldsox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sox could not beat Bristol, let alone the Rays.
  20. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) When was the last time Youk hit a ball hard.? He was hitting .230 something when we got him; he still is.
  21. Sox pitching has given up 12 walks so far.
  22. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) Yeah, I'm not too upset because: (1) no one expected much; and (2) since about August 1, this team has been -- honestly -- one of the most boring teams I've ever watched. I'm serious about that, and I've been a Sox fan for 35 years. There's something about them that I haven't been able to put a finger on. It will get worse next year, IMO.
  23. Royals have won the last nine games started by Guthrie. That will probably change tonight. I wonder what the odds are that Sox will finish 8 games behind tigers...
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 07:06 AM) Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka De Aza is first #WhiteSox leadoff man with 4+ hits in a shutout loss since Wally Moses (4-4) in 14-0 loss vs DET in gm 2 of 5/24/42 DBH I remember Wally.
  25. Noticed that Scherzer has one blue eye and one brown eye. Never saw that before.
