We're more likely to see Reinsdorf rehire Thibs than sign Wade.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) This is why college coaches like Hoiberg who are beloved should "just say no" to the NBA unless all they care about (and this is possible) is making a few million more per annum. Smith wrote: "It’s why the shelf life of the NBA coach isn’t long; in his fifth season, Thibodeau ranked fourth senior NBA coach with his team. The other three all had won titles." Hoiberg won't last more than 2-3 years with Chicago unless the Bulls win it all which they probably won't. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) I agree. He apparently loves the NBA. So good for him. He could be the king not just the Mayor of Ames and have more money than he would ever need for the rest of his life if he stayed. Seems like a no brainer to me, but apparently he doesn't feel the same. More money annually, big cities vs. college towns if that's what they want, no NCAA regulations. Hell, getting away from the NCAA could be the biggest factor.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 29, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Every coach in the NBA has him in there. This is really an unfair criticism of Thibs that he's received since that moment. Went back and looked. Was only a 12 point lead. For some reason my brain changed it to 20 point lead. My bad, I'll admit my error there.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2015 -> 12:37 PM) Supposedly Pau had planted a different seed during the season and I think players started to march to a slightly different tune. Not saying Pau didn't like Tom, just that he has been their and won and has a different mindset and is a real leader and I think his opinion was more of a, you need to make it to the playoffs in a position where you are healthy enough to play your best basketball and that wasn't going to happen under Tom's watch. Too much blood had been released by the time the regular season ended. If Pau doesn't come, my presumption is Tom is still the head coach of the Bulls because it was going to take a real veteran (from the outside) who would be able to change some of the internal culture that will also come with getting older. My presumption is if there was one player who wouldn't comment negatively on Tom, it would be Butler and possibly Rose. However, I could have seen similar situations with Noah too, but that might not be the case. Dunleavy is a pro but it isn't like he'd grown up and been developed by Tom so while I can't see him bashing Tom, I also don't see him doing extensive lobbying for a coach either. Three starters said they'd avoid the Advocate Center if Thibs were here this summer. My guess is Pau, Butler and Noah. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) The Bulls did fire Doug Collins and that turned out OK, but the rosters are different. I think if the Bulls were a little classier about the dismissal we all knew was happening months ago, it wouldn't bother me so much. Even if they are 100% sure Thibs was feeding stuff to Van Gundy, it isn't hard to take the high road, and they chose the low road. I'll give you that. They didn't take the high road, but Reinsdorf's press release had the tone of a hurt father. He clearly felt betrayed by Thibs. It wasn't as bad as Gilbert's letter to LeBron, but in the heat of the moment Reinsdorf foolishly let his emotions get the better of him.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Coaches should coach. GMs should GM. That's how I see it. The Bulls PR department is doing a good job making Thibs the bad guy here, but if he was so horrible and played guys too much, why did he last 5 seasons? Why did he get a very lucrative contract extension which still has 2 years to go? You yourself are using a quote from a writer that stated he never got any info from Thibs as proof Thibs gave him info. Isn't it at least slightly possible the Van Gundy comments weren't coming from Thibs? He was speaking from common knowledge. We all knew the stories. The fact is GarPax hasn't yet shown they are any better at their jobs than the guys they fired. I hope someone with the Bulls realizes that. He lasted five seasons because he got the most out of the team for three of them, two of which he didn't have Rose and three playoffs without Rose. He got a lucrative deal because it looked like he would learn from his flaws, get his healthy Roster and curbstomp the East. But he was a risk to the players' healths. We as fans know that. It's why the minute restriction got put in place. There was no reason for Derick to still be in that 76ers game. For Noah to be in meaningless games while noticeably hurt at the end of last year. Deng. Jimmy. Pau for entire quarters. If you think Isola never got things from Thibs, you're wrong. You're not friends with a source and don't "hear things". Thibs might never have come out and said something exactly, but he almost certainly gave Isola leads. Example A: Isola knows stuff about the Bulls coaching staff that Chicago beat writers didn't. If Van Gundy was speaking from just common knowledge, then he sadly doomed is friend. GarPax put together a team that should have won this year. The problem is that Thibs' drill instructor message finally wore out on the players. Yes the FO resigned Kirk, but they also signed Moore who showed plenty. Snell was being jerked around left and right. So was Mirotic. McDermott looked good to start the year, had a few cold spells, then really never saw the floor. Noah and Kirk were overplayed. Once it was evident that Noah's knee wasn't as functional, a change should have been made. This year Thibs failed. He had the roster he could use to win. Injuries hit it, but this team didn't have the fire of his past teams from the start. Remember the players-meeting? Pax suggested that after Thibs scheduled an unscheduled practice as means to punish the players. He stopped talking to Pax after that, but the Bulls looked like a better team after that meeting. This reeks of Kenny vs. Ozzie all over again and like last time, the person whose close friends/family went to the media to roast the organization lost Reinsdorf's trust.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) I doubt there are many coaches or managers that appreciate meddling from the GM and president of the team. If Hoiberg is going to be a yes man, I hope the Bulls higher ups have GarPax on notice that if the results are the same, it isn't the coach. Don't the GM and president meddle by nature...? They build the roster. We've seen the opposite. When coaches get to meddle in GM affairs like Ozzie getting Kotsay over Thome. Supposedly Thibs was the biggest supporter of drafting McDermott as well.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Tate to Sox in latest BA mock http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/mlb-m...15-version-4-0/ If Tate is available I would all aboard that train. I think I'd take Fulmer over him, but that'd be it.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) end of the day, both sides were in the wrong, but the outcome was right. This 1000 times. Thibs wouldn't budge even when players and management were asking him change / learn. Some players told Wilbon that Snell deserved to not be jerked around and that if they were expected to learn and improve, why wasn't Thibs? QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) I want to thank Thibs for making basketball in Chicago fun for the last 5 years and wish him the best in the future. Whoever gets him is going to get a really good coach and I hope he's learned a bit from his experience here. At the same time, I hope Hoiberg is the guy that can take the Bulls to the next level and that Doug Collins will be seated next to him. Reading Woj's article and who Forman wanted to hire instead of Thibs has me worried. I'd have been fine if they went with Pax's guy (Doug Collins) but if they hired Lawrence Frank or Mike Brown, oh my. I do love Thibs for what he's done. I want him to take a year off to go do an Eat, Pray, Love thing. Something, anything that clears his mind of basketball for a time. It's not healthy for him, let alone his players, how intense/obsessive he is. Thibs is a good dude, but he needs to learn to stop and breathe so he can understand why others need it. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) Van Gundy chimes in. He does make some good points: http://nypost.com/2015/05/28/jeff-van-gund...vicious-manner/ "Except for when he went off the record with me and I blasted them on national television which sealed his fate because it lost him Reinsdorf." Thibs wasn't willing to hire an offensive assistant, something he desperately needed. You'd think a guy who was the best defensive assistant ever would realize the need for good assistants to help mask your weaknesses. Mark Jackson refused to allow some assistants in, clashed with the FO and was canned. Considering Isola knows that the coaching staff wanted Draymond Green...Thibs talks to him. He did a great job. He didn't win a ring or ever come close. He didn't adapt. It wasn't working. Also, Van Gundy has been trying to uplift Thibs since January by diminishing the entire organization which is why Thibs got fired. Van Gundy is s***. I feel bad for Thibs, but he's not a saint because no one can reasonably be expected to be a saint. The problem is he let stuff get to the loudmouth blowhard that is Jeff Van Gundy.

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ May 28, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) Sale's gonna set the franchise strikeout mark, isn't he? Billy Pierce has the franchise record with 1796, so it's not an easy to obtain number. If Sale pitches with the Sox for a long time he does have a legitimate shot.

If Abreu could have corralled that throw, would have been an amazing play by Gordon. So much more impressed by him at 3rd than 2nd.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) Let other teams pay these guys 25 million a year. It's just stupid to pay a pitcher huge bucks for more than 2-3 seasons. They WILL be hurt. Would paying a pitcher $19M four years ago be a mistake?

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 27, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) I agree, I think they have a real legit chance. I know it's a complete turnaround from when I said at the start of the season that the Cavs had no shot to win this year but adding Mozgov, JR and Shump along with the emergence of TT has really changed this team from what they were earlier in the season when I thought they were soft. They're gonna battle GS and they have no one who can limit LeBron like say, Jimmy Buckets, except for Iguodala if you could time travel back 5 years ago. Their team D is great but what are they gonna do when LeBron ISOs? Give it to him. Then slice up Kyrie with Curry.
