QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) Then there will be a fight in the game. If Abreu gets plunked I guarantee you he's heading to the mound. At least Duffy will be out of the game early. I would be terrified of fighting Jose Abreu.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) Watch the Cubs suck, then Bryant gets called up with all the hype and pressure on his shoulders. Then he inevitably fails because of said pressure. I swear man, the hype kills almost every Cubs prospect. Josh Vitter, Felix Pie, Jake Fox, etc. are among my favorite examples. Every Cubs prospect is supposed to be the savior and it...doesn't work.

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 5, 2015 -> 07:27 AM) 2 more new mock draft.... i think these do show the results of the injured pitchers. https://mlbdraftcountdown.wordpress.com/201...draft-4-1-4615/ http://sbb.scout.com/story/1534142-2015-mlb-draft-mock-2-0 I know I repeat this every time but the Sox would be crazy to pass on Aiken or Matuella unless they believe there is something wrong mechanically they can't fix. I can't see the Sox passing one of them either if Coop gives the OK.

2014-2015 MLB off season player movement and rumors thread
Quin replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
Dear lord the Padres went nuts this offseason. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) Kaplan just said he would take Hendricks over Rodon for the next 2 years lmao. Also, said yesterday morning that the Cubs top 3 starters are better than the Sox, before Haugh knocked him down a notch. Yeah. No.

He was hurt, wasn't that bad when he was healthy. It's like Crain and Jones.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) I'm a little bit bored of hearing this reasoning. You're right - if it was John Doe everything would be fine. But Sox fans don't know who John Doe is, while unfortunately, we have a lot of context and extra experience with Gordon Beckham that is absolutely 100% relevant. We've watched him play badly for half a decade, we've heard him proclaim a new attitude every season only for the same old patterns to repeat themsleves, and we're tired of it. I have a right to be frustrated about Gordon Beckham being on this team and I'm gonna exercise it. I mean in the way that we have built up ears of frustration with Gordon as a starter. He is no longer that. He's the end of the bench bench player. You don't exactly get high quality production out of there, you can expect serviceable at best. He'll get cut if he's bad.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) I'd be completely cool with the signing if we didn't already have Bonifacio, it just doesn't make sense to me. Ha exactly. I honestly think Bonifacio was signed to be the backup OF until Shuck was able to tear up Spring Training. And they only played Shuck in the corner OF spots.
-
Man, I'm pulling so hard for Beckham to do well. Like my god, the vitriol is insane. If he had never played with the org before we'd be hailing this as a good signing for a bench player.
-
Bryant's interview on ESPN sounds like a completely entitled prick vs. Rodon.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 7m7 minutes ago Brian Anderson has officially been released by the White Sox According to Reifort he was hurt a lot of spring training. They were all pulling for him, it just wasn't there.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) 25.5 M between Ricky Nolasco and Ervin Santana. 10.5 M on Toriiiiiiiiii. Be sure to thank God for Sale, Quintana, and Abreu's contracts every night before bed. Don't forget Eaton now as well.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Your hatred seems to make reading comprehension an issue for you. I never said death threats were an indictment of all. I expressly said that. Yet here you claim that is what I just said. Have fun in your closed little world. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) How is the baker who doesn't want to bake a cake being intolerant? He is saying that he doesn't want anything to do with your ceremony, but go ahead and get married, or whatever, just don't involve me. The other side is saying 'do as i say or we'll force you to do it thru the use of government power'. It is not a crime to think that gay marriage isn't right or against your religion. (a stance I do not share, btw) SO why try and force someone to do something against their will? An example of real 'tolerance' here. http://hotair.com/archives/2015/04/01/cris...r-gay-weddings/ Death threats. Threats to burn the place down. Yeah, way to win over hearts and minds there with your extreme tolerance. 1) Your article is posted by someone too afraid to use their real name in their work and shows an extreme bias in their reporting. 2) He's refusing service on grounds that they're gay. Now what if he refused it because they were Jewish, black, etc.? That's intolerance. Is it his right, sure, but he is turning away income for his business solely because the customers are gay. 3) You use the death threats and threats to burn down the place as an example of the lack of tolerance of the 'pro-tolerance' crowd. Balta merely flipped it to point out that death threats get slung back and forth by both sides. Now, you didn't say it indicts all people in the 'pro-tolerance' group, but you're using it as an example to exemplify the whole. If you take an isolated, extremely vocal minority and use it as an example, that is your implication to paint the picture in your argument's favor.
-
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) How exactly is the tolerance crowd supposed to be tolerant of intolerance? If they tolerated intolerance, they wouldn't be the tolerance crowd. I feel like this is a riddle.

Crain and Rodon assigned to minor league camp
Quin replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Neither is shocking. -
Jokes on you when he actually does.

I honestly think that Rose seeing them without him might have opened his eyes. It's dumb, but there were quotes from Taj about how he was raving about how Niko opening the floor so much and being so dangerous. He's been conditioned to really not trust his teammates to be this dynamic on offense, maybe now he'll finally learn. Closing lineup of Rose - Butler - Niko - Pau - Noah could be terrifying. Niko and Rose running around the perimeter with slashing ability, Jimmy and Pau posting up, and Noah up top running some ball distributing duties will open up the paint for Pau to go to work. Throw in Snell, Dunleavy and Taj along with situational Kirk/Brooks and you might have something.

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 08:39 AM) adding Adams and Micker, can that be reasons enuf??? i just don't know, i don't think so. next yr, the sox system is going to get hammered when Rodon is not listed there. We could have said the same about it losing Abreu, EJ, who many liked as a prospect, and Semien. The draft can hold surprises and other players stocks can shoot up (Especially Adams and Hawkins)
-
Broussard said that Rose is looking to facilitate once he comes back now that he knows he has Niko, Pau and Jimmy all capable of scoring 20. That would be best if he could facilitate for 3.5 quarters then become Point God for the last 6 minutes, if he still has it in him. It's Broussard though, take it with a grain of salt.

QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) Drabek has such a higher ceiling too, would be a horrible move. Yeah, with the circumstances surrounding his acquisition / how little time they had with him, I feel like Drabek is a lock for the roster.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) DAYAN. VICIEDO. IS. NOT. ON. THE. WHITE. SOX. ROSTER. HIS OPS LAST YEAR WAS .686. HE'S NEVER PUT UP AN OPS ABOVE .744 IN A SEASON. YOU'RE INVENTING NUMBERS THAT MAKE NO SENSE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ON OTHER TEAMS ROSTERS FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN TO CONFUSE ME. BALTA ANGRY.
