  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Damn a double by Olivo. What do u think of MU's move to the SEC. yay or nay? I would have preferred Big 10 with KU coming with us, but with Texas and Oklahoma being as shady as they are, I'm cool with the jump.
  2. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) Close it out Addison....do it in under 8 minutes. Mizzou baseball regional starts at 10...gotta tune in there. What channel?
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 05:18 PM) I agree with you, I want it too. But if it were that easy, you would think it would have been done already. On a related note, it really sucks that the Marvel franchises have been spread out so much to different production companies. Especially now that they are being woven together like we are currently seeing. I know, just saying it gives me hope since the Iron Patriot was Norman Osborn and Garfield was on the Avengers set. Just fanboy hope.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) I'm gonna doubt very much that Spidermans rights are going to go back to Marvel. Especially given the fact that it looks like Spiderman is going to be pretty good They could do what Paramount did though, Just let Spider-Man be in the Avengers movies/MCU movies for royalties from the films. It's basically free money for Sony, and doesn't Sony need a little cash anway? That way Sony retains the Spider-Man rights, but basically allows him to crossover into the other films.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 04:48 PM) There is pictures of the Iron Patriot suit on set for Iron Man 3, so it looks like the Extremis storyline is a go. My big hope is that coupled with Andrew Garfield hanging around the Avengers set with Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Patriot suit might mean that Columbia would greenlight Spidey being put into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  6. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Wel they did only make the original one gay, so Ryan shouldn't have anything to worry about. Although he does get his power from a 'power ring' and they practically have to fist the lantern to get it to work, so maybe there is something to it. And wasn't one of the green lanters named Guy Gardner or something like that? Oy vey.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:15 AM) As always greg, you ignore the facts. Konerko got hit with a mistake, a splitter that Samardzija let go early. Sliding hard into a base is not what AJ did. I think you haven't seen a replay of it, because if you did you wouldn't be saying what you are saying. Zobrist was standing behind the base, AJ slid in PAST THE BASE cleats up, and intentionally cleated Zobrist in the ankle/leg. That is not part of the game, that is bushleague bulls*** that breaks ankles and legs. AJ is our guy and all, but sometimes you have to call a spade a spade, and that was most definitely a spade. If that happened to one of the Sox players, you would be calling for MLB and God Ozzie to come down and smite the offender off the face of the planet.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) painkillers I don't want to laugh, but you got me.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:22 AM) I read the topic. Didn't care about anything else anybody else has said, so if what I say is aforementioned, then many kudos. - It depends upon which time you were talking about. Had the Sox not traded for Jim Thome, they'd have been left with an 02-04ish offense, hoping and praying that Frank Thomas could stay healthy. They'd still be destroyed by great right handed pitching, and as a result probably would have only won 87 games instead of 90. That's IF they had kept Thomas. Had they still let Thomas walk, the best case scenario I can see is that they would have ended up with Nomar Garciaparra. They still lose 3 wins. That's at the very best. Now, if you're an old school type who believes that protection in the lineup helps generate production from other players, than perhaps Jermaine Dye doesn't hit 44 home runs, perhaps Paul Konerko doesn't put up the exact same numbers as MVP Justin Morneau, and perhaps other pieces from the lineup fall as well. Perhaps the Sox lose 10 wins, are ridiculously far out of it at the break, and deal Freddy Garcia for 2 other prospects. And then never get Gio back, and after another very bad year in 2008, the Sox fire both Williams and Guillen and hire Dan Evans and Gene Lamont to run the team. I think we all know how that one goes. Now, had they not traded him the second time, which is the one I think you are getting at, having never read a single word of your post, then the Sox don't end up with Nick Swisher. Now, depending upon how strictly and strongly you believe in the statistic WAR, and whose definition you believe most in (baseballreference or fangraphs), the Sox are either better off without Swisher (-0.5 bWAR) or Nick Swisher was worth more than 1 win for the 2008 Chicago White Sox (1.3 fWAR). I give much more credence towards fWAR but I'm a homer, so do as you please. But since, in this revisionist's history, we are using that, and we are using it to mean Nick Swisher was literally worth 1+ more wins than the average Joe they could have put in place, then what we would have seen would have been DeWayne Wise putting up 2 WAR in August alone and -3 WAR in the months outside of that, given general estimation. On top of that, even had the Sox found a perfect replacement level player to play instead of Swisher, who would have put up exactly a 0 fWAR, the Sox would have given up the division lead in the second game in the Metrodome, the final win against Cleveland wouldn't have mattered, they'd have never played the makeup game against Detroit, and the blackout game would have never taken place, thus, no Griffey/Thome/Danks show, and we would have never seen the batting champion-to-be bunt in his last plate appearance of the year attempting to get on base. At that point in time, 2009 would have been far more disappointing, and the Sox almost certainly would have never had the resources to sign Dayan Viciedo during the 2008-09 offseason. They'd be in a full blown rebuilding mode, still with Dan Evans and Gene Lamont in charge. Going into the 4th year of Reinsdorf's always too generous length of stay, the Sox would be coming off their 2nd straight 90+ loss season with an absolute garbage product on the field but hope beyond hope in the minors with a top 10 system in the league. But atleast they'd still have Gio f***in Gonzalez. Also, we'd be complaining about how we didn't trade him for prospects at his peak value.

  11. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ May 30, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) You apparently didn't see the pictures of the victims face. Still haunts my dreams. Yup.
  12. If I'm another teams player, I would just tackle LeBron/Wade, because if fouls are gonna happen, make them big ones.
  13. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) You don't trade for #10 and then take Lamb. He might be there at 29. Edit- Nevermind, wrong Lamb. Still not sure trading your second best player for two guys that should be on the bench and an okay prospect is a good move. Maximize Deng's value. He'll be 29 when we're ready for another big run and looking for a new contract. Jeremy Lamb could be a legit #2 option next to Rose.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) J. Jack would be a great back-up pg who could start and do a solid job while Rose recovers. He's also someone that can play SG if needed I'd seriously try to deal Deng, Watson, and the 29 for Jack, Ariza, and the 10 if Lamb is on the board at 10. Deng helps them possibly make the playoffs this year, which would be great for them a year after losing Paul, getting AD, and most likely changing the name and uniform. Ariza could give some Deng-esque D in Thibs system and Lamb could give us a possible #2 option to develop with Rose. You've stated the nice part of Jack. ' Also, Bobcats pick is worth more! Mazel Tov!
  15. Deng + 29 for Ariza, Jack, #10 if Jeremy Lamb is on the board. That's been suggested on the Bulls RealGM board, and I'd do it. With AD now, NOH might too.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) Reed is universally AdmiREED. No.
  17. 1. Wait till Floyd gets on one his domination runs. 2. Trade Floyd for a steep price. 3. Insert Quintana to rotation. 4. ???? 5. Profit!
  18. QUOTE (onedude @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) Only four teams with a better record than the Sox at the moment 95 losses wins.
