Angels @ White Sox 5/19/10 Game Thread!
kitekrazy replied to hogan873's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Hawk has had some curious slip ups tonight. I hope he's OK. I sure hope if KW doesn't seem to care about offense next year he helps his pitching staff by acquiring some defense. The way things are going, by July Hawk will lose all ability to sound like a homer. Loved his comment about the defense. -

This is one of the dumbest team when it comes to hitting with men on base. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 18, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) How many Soxtalkers would have really guessed at the beginning of the season that Garcia would be one of our top two pitchers as far as dependability and quality starts? I believe he has had only one subpar game It not as odd as Hendry getting rid of Bradley and getting Silva who is the Cubs ace. It is a shame that the Sox are getting quality starts from the 5th spot, Danks get's no run support. Peavy, Mark and Floyd are so so.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 18, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) I still think Ozzie is a decent manager. The problem is, KW let's him play GM with the roster and coaching staff and we've seen how that blows up in his face. What KW needs to do is pick the team he wants. Sign the players he wants to. For Ozzie to be successful, you must Ozzie proof the lineup. I don't think Kenny or Ozzie pick the team they want. Budget and who's available does that. I still disagree this is Ozzie's team. No GM in any sport acquires players to spite a manager. GMs rarely get in the way of a manager's pick of coaches.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
kitekrazy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
No way did I think the Hawks would have 3 goals this soon. I figured the Sharks would win this one. Now it's 3-1. I don;t want to be premature about this game. -
QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 18, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) So yesterday in the game thread there were whisperings of changes coming today or tomorrow. Anyone know anything? I have a feeling Beckham might be sent down...I just hope that doesn't mean Vizquel gets more starts. But of course then the option is Nix. My guess would be Kenny fires Walker. They are not going to send Beckham down.

What a disaster this rotating DH NL lineup idea is...
kitekrazy replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (opwhitesoxfan @ May 15, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) Why not let Buehrle hit DH. He hit a HR in interleague play last year. Thats 1 more then Vizquel or Pierre will hit this year. Get Zambrano from the Cubs. -
QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 17, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) this is true and the sox are one of the lowest teams in BABIP for 3 years running now. i dont think this is a coincedence. i am not a big believer in this stat that everything evens out. Why is that? It's a mystery to me.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ May 17, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) Via Joe Cowley : Ozzie said he told his players "the makeup game is in August, but most of you won't be here anyway.'' Lol. It should be "but most of us won't be here anyway". -
Over/under on KW vote of confidence on Guillen

QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) I know I'm probably not a good judge for this, but has anyone else noticed how lots of different media sources are talking about a rift between Ozzie and KW? If I didn't know any better, someone in the organization is setting up one of them to be the fall guy. It seems only limited to Chicago. One thing I have noticed the Chicago media can't live without creating some type of soap opera. -

kitekrazy replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
"After the Royals sweep the Sox with new manager Yost, proving "new blood" can create a quick chemistry change in the clubhouse" I guess one could argue he left that guy in too long when Peavy pitched. I know if Ozzie did it, the FIRE OZZIE threads would be endless. Yet I don't get how Ozzie can't give enough playing time to mediocre players like Kotsay. We went thru that when McKowiak was on the team. I hope the only sensible thing behind it is to hope their value increases for trading purposes. -
Anyone happy the Padres are doing well?
kitekrazy replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 17, 2010 -> 06:52 AM) I know exactly what he meant. And I don't give two s***s about what the Padres are doing. Contrary to Soxtalk belief, Kenny is not a bafoon. He wouldn't trade (and I don't think we have the ammunition anyway) for AG if we're 8-10 games, or even more than that, behind the Twins. There's no way would the Sox pay him what the Yankees think he's worth. -

It's the National League. The "anything's possible" applies only to the NL. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:01 AM) Gavin lost his composure, and the game, when Alexei/Pierre/Rios let the ball drop between them(which i blame on Alexei). His stuff was good yesterday, he was cruising until that happened Another facet that this team really sucks at. The left side of the field lacks solid fielders. I'm still trying to figure out the true logic in acquiring Teahan. It just solidifies my evidence that defense is the lowest priority in this organization. So far the only thing I see this team is good at is stealing bases.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:27 AM) A rotating DH can be smart, if you have 4 or 5 guys that are decent hitters and at least one of those guys has some flexibility defensively, but when part of a rotating DH are guys that shouldn't start (even in the case of a platoon situation), than you have a serious issue. I can't imagine a team with 4 or 5 decent hitters on a bench. I can't even imagine that in a lineup, it's been so long.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2010 -> 08:24 AM) So unload the entire team including top players signed for multiple years for what exactly? A bunch of prospects? Walk back to your living room, pick up your controller and continue your MLB the show league. IN real life, this idea is what we call retarded. Awesome post.

Someone once suggested, fire Ozzie and make AJ a player manager.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:24 AM) The 2009 Washington Nationals started 12-25. They finished 59-103. Post of the Week.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 16, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) Didn't Troy Tulowitzki have a similar meteoric climb to stardom his rookie year, only to come crashing down to Earth in his sophmore season? He turned it around though. Maybe Beckham will be the same? Then only guy I know that didn't was Frank Thomas. The panic over Beckham is very irrational. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 16, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) This Beckham thing is such a kick in the nuts. We all had such high hopes for him, we practically built him a statue outside the park, and to see him come out like this... it's really disheartening. I think this might be the most disappointing aspect of this year. Whose fault is that? Soto tanked his 2nd year. (toked too) -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) I'm waiting for them to sign Bonds, Sosa or Palmeiro to play LF. It will remind me of the 2001 season and bringing in Canseco, who actually played pretty well for us, compared to most of the veteran "over the hill" guys we've brought in 3-5 years too late in their careers...they're (Boyer and Co.) going to have to be very creative if they don't want to end up 22nd-26th in MLB attendance. Or they could trade to get Ken Griffey. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 16, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) can't be too often that you win a road game against a team 27-6-8 at home, when you have 5 penalties and they have 0 niemi was fantastic today Home ice hasn't been an advantage lately.
