  1. Ozzie quit. Oh, it was already mentioned, the rest is irrelevant. Ozzie supporters, the 2-3 of you that are left, defend that s*** please. haha I expect deflection of the question though
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:15 PM) Looks like we might have to wait at least one more week if Martinez is the guy. Tito should be available now. I'd rather have the guy who shows he wants to prove something, Francona could very well be the same old s***. I want a new manager to groom a youth-led core of players, very similar situation to what Martinez and Maddon have in TB.
  3. lol Coop sounds like he wants to be the 2012 mgr
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Interesting. Maybe Ozzie has made a deal with the Marlins, and Cora is out of here. They should just let Vizquel do it for a couple days. Hell, he can wear 13 if he wants too. Cora and Walker and Baines and probably Cox are all going with Ozzie to FLA, rumor is Cooper stays
  5. subtopic is a little off he didn't ask to be traded, nor did he resign he asked for his release and the Sox obliged
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 02:51 AM) Kirk Gibson and his coaching staff in Arizona might disagree with you. If anything, Ozzie was much more effective and had more respect from the players in 2004-06 than any point thereafter. The longer he was here, the greater the likelihood of him losing the team became. I'm not sure what your point was, you can't possibly be saying the D'Backs situation is the rule, not the exception No, that can't be..
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) HE GAWN! ^
  8. also, lets get one thing straight, a new manager doesn't usually get the respect of his players in his first year and sometimes it takes a couple years for them to get used to the new guy i don't expect much now going in to 2012, whereas with Ozzie, I hoped talent and complacency would prevail, but with a new mgr, i'm not so sure
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) Buehrle, Paulie, and Hawk all ripped on Ozzie. Wow. link? from the two posted that you replied to, only Mark Buehrle was mentioned
  10. so f***ing happy right now, good riddance you low life.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) First off, I never claimed that Manny would win but he's certainly the one person that has a shot. If the 2 do happen to fight, I'd probably look for a Floyd decision just like I do in all the rest of his boring ass fights. But I would love to see Manny beat the living f*** out of that punk and if you don't think that Pac has a chance then you're absolutely crazy. All I'm going to say about the media scrutiny is that it's well deserved, Floyd brings absolutely EVERYTHING on himself. The guy is a f***in jackass and a moron. And I like how you think you're the king s*** of boxing. Please, I grew up and trained with boxers and martial artists since I was 8 years old, so I know a thing or two about the sport. I suppose it's not a coincidence with your attitude that you're a Floyd fan. quit f***ing crying, jesus christ
  12. Eddie Chambers Quote: Victor Ortiz should of never dropped his guard... & always know u are never friend while u in that ring!! Steve Cunningham Quote: y'all call us warriors gladiators right, I agree with wut Floyd did its fight time not time to hug kiss and apologize
  13. more twitter posts from pro. boxers: Paulie Malignaggi Quote: Ortiz was KO'd bcuz HE made huge mistake that @FloydMayweather capitalized on. #EndOfStory #DoneTalking Lennox Lewis Quote: When the ref says fight. It doesn't matter if he looks away. The fighters were instructed to fight not hug. Antonio Tarver Quote: Protect yourself at all times, it's the first rule of boxing. OmarHenry Quote: By the way the ending wasnt dirty protect yourself at all times Victor was looking for an excuse out and he found it. STOP HATING! Audley Harrison Quote: That was warming into a great fight. Shame, but Victor was naive to drop his hands like that, protect yourself at all times is the rules. Anthonydirrell Quote: Did what he had to do it protect yourself at all time BrianViloria Quote: Once the referee says fight...put yo damn guard up!
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) Floyd fight Manny or retire! zero chance Bob Arum lets Pacquiao fight Mayweather unless it's Manny's final fight before retiring. Bob Arum knows boxing, believe it or not, as despicable of a man as he is, he knows the sport. He knows Floyd will outbox Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather isn't Miguel Cotto, he isn't Margarito, he isn't Shane Mosley, and he isn't Joshua Clottey
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 10:11 AM) You're being absolutely absurd, Real. Nobody in their right mind has claimed that Ortiz was going to win that fight, it was quite obvious that Floyd was the better fighter but what he did was beyond cheap. Was it legal? Sure it was but that doesn't make it any less of a cheap shot. And if you don't think Floyd is a punk all you have to do is watch his post match interviews, from the one with Merchant to the one where he said "this adds to my legacy," the guy is a f***in joke of a human being. Unfortunately, there is only one guy on his level(and everyone has known this for years now) and I hope like hell Manny gets a chance at him. I'd pay good, GOOD money to see this ass hole get his ass kicked and I hope Pac Man gets his shot. If you honestly think Pacquiao could beat Mayweather, then you don't know boxing, period. The *only* reason the mass media has been flaunting this fight for as long as they have, is because the media hates Floyd Mayweather. They want nothing more than to see him lose. They look at Pacquiao like some sort of unstoppable force (despite the catchweights, cherrypicked fighters coming off devastating losses). Pacquiao is TOO SMALL to beat Floyd Mayweather, I'm telling you this right now. Bookmark this post, because I'm gonna tell you exactly how that fight will go down next year: pacquiao would try throwing his jab, landing at an almost nonexistant rate due to his size and reach disadvantage, and he'll try his trademark "leaping in angled-combinations", but floyd would just put all of his weight on the back foot (like he always does against aggressive/ambush fighters!) and pacquiaos combinations would serve only to gas himself out, because he'll be swinging at air. Takes a lot out of a fighter when you're hitting air, floyd doesnt even need to be particularly elusive, he'll just hop backwards (as he, again, always does against guys who try to lunge in, as Pacquiao ALWAYS does) as Pacquiao jumps in (off balance like he always does), and Floyd will nail him with pull counters and straight right hands Floyd will jab/pull counter him to the point of frustration I'm telling you right now, and people here who truly know how to dissect fights can critique me here , Pacquiao's punch output will be very un-pacquiao like because he wont be able to effectively get close enough to Floyd without getting tagged Floyd stops Manny late, thats how I see it going There is zero chance that a smaller fighter beats Floyd Mayweather, he's too skilled, too smart, too fast, and a better boxer than anybody in the welterweight division. Let's be real, Pacquiao is a JWW. He killed these bigger guys because they allowed Pacquiao to nullify his reach disadvantage by charging forward, trying to be overly aggressive. simply put, pacquiao will not be able to use all of his tools and abilities against a fighter like floyd and it'll be almost entirely due to their size and reach differences pacquiao fans shouldn't even be mad about the fight turning out that way because it'll be almost completely due to size (of course, Floyd's brain also has a lot to do with it, he'll fight the correct "big mans fight", unlike what Shane did) let me grab my flame suit, because I know it's coming feel free to actually break down how you think the fight would go (please, don't ignore the reach advantage floyd will have fight-night, and don't ignore his uncanny ability to be able to position himself perfectly in the ring to land his straight right hand lead)
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 04:53 AM) I'm not hating on Floyd but you are such a homer it's ridiculous lol. I'd actually root for Floyd if he ever fought Manny, but you have to show some objectivity. show me where I'm not being objective don't just post this nancy bulls***, man up, point s*** out.
  17. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 04:28 AM) Floyd clearly knew Ortiz wasn't ready for the punch and their was some confusion, but if Ortiz didn't land that incredibly cheap head butt it never happens and I feel no sympathy for him. Floyd taught the kid a lesson, quit trying to hug me and keep your hands up... Not the best way for a fight to end but it is what it is. Not for the fans, definitely, but Floyd was f***ing vintage in that 4th round.. the combos at the beginning were sharp as hell, Ortiz had no chance in this fight. If Floyd's legs are truly starting to go and he has to fight like this from now on, hell yeah. that's just about 6 punches landed for Ortiz per round. lol
  18. Haha, every BOXER coming out on twitter right now supporting Floyd. "Protect yourself at all times. This is boxing. When some1 hits you once, don't look n e where else, cover your face! Once the ref says go, you better put your hands up, esp after you got deducted for an intentional headbutt, cuz your opponent doesn't have to accept your apology. And what the hell was that kiss all about?" - NONITO DONAIRE
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 03:21 AM) I hope you know how incredibly idiotic you're making yourself look in this thread tonight. I came into this fight as a Mayweather fan but that's long gone. It was a b**** move. Say what you want about the headbutt, but it was out of adrenaline/frustration. That was the cheapest "knockout" I've ever seen. I compare it to 2 guys at a bar talking s***, then all of the sudden somebody's boy comes out of left field and sucker punches him. Unless its Maywweather/Ortiz 2 or Mayweather/Pacquiao, I'll never be watching Floyd fight again. And watching it in his home town of Grand Rapids, MI made it all the more unbearable for me. And his post-fight interview was unbelievable. If you're willingly calling yourself a Mayweather fan and lauding him after this fight, you need your head examined. 42-0 means absolutley nothing now too. Right now, his legacy is 2 cheap shots, being afraid of Pacquiao and going after an 80 year old ring reporter. Keep it classy bro. He's the perfect example of the worst case scenario of money. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J7JoqN74ho Awful. Every commentator so far has called it a legal knock out. Go be butthurt somewhere else. "I came into this fight as a Mayweather fan" Bulls***. He was absolutely schooling Ortiz for 4 straight rounds. Listen to the commentary, except for Lampley who tries to portray a fight as being competitive when in reality Merchant, and Steward both stating how Floyd is dismantling Ortiz (Look at the 4th round, Floyd started unloading on him with combinations, VINTAGE Mayweather). Sorry you wanna give a kid a mulligan for f***ing throwing his skull into and busting up Mayweather's mouth (and yes, he was busted up, watch the post-fight. blood coming out of his mouth), and then repeatedly trying to hug and kiss and say he's sorry. I'm glad Mayweather KO'd that scrub the way he did. I wouldn't say that normally but he f***ing HEADBUTTED HIM INTENTIONALLY. All bets are off after that, bud.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) I was listening to the radio out here in Vegas yesterday and they think the fight will probably happen next year as long as Floyd can stay out of jail...there is just too much money on the table and the clock is ticking on both of these guys... Manny has to take the test, Floyd isn't budging on that and honestly he shouldn't. Shane Mosley beat NSAC standard uring testing, and Victor Conte calls current testing standards "An IQ test, easy to beat." Take the test Manny and become #43 !
  21. ESPN Main page~ http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/69839...ko-victor-ortiz If you know anything about ESPN, it's that they've had an agenda against Floyd (between PTI, Around the Horn, numerous hosts), and for them to clearly state it was Ortiz that committed the dirty fouls, well, I stand by what I said. I just finished watching commentary from what seems to be another american broadcast of the fight and both commentators are in agreement that Floyd didn't do anything wrong except for ending a fight earlier than he could've probably controlled (suggesting that he would've won the fight eventually, giving the fans their "Money's worth") Larry Merchant: "He took some of Ortiz's good shots. For once, we can all say.. He was as exciting in the ring, as he was outside of the ring." Jim Lampley: "Harold Lederman, I'm sitting here saying that was legal, but I'm not the final authority, your call on that?" Harold Lederman: "Well Jim, I gotta tell ya, to me it looked like Joe Cortez called time in, and then Floyd jumped on him, and knocked him out. It's protect yourself at all times, it was legal."
  22. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 12:23 AM) oh the irony.... alright dude, you have your opinion, I have mine, if you wanna talk about other parts of the fight, I'm game Floyd's handspeed was faster than I thought it'd be at 34 years old... He hasn't lost any of his handspeed, which is good for him His footwork looks way worse than it did a few years ago, so his legs may truly be gone... He didn't look comfortable having to fight Ortiz toe-to-toe You have to admit, Floyd was stalking Ortiz for most of the fight...
