  1. QUOTE (Ballz-n-Strikes @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) Quintana is untouchable. Where do you get that from? *Edit - I'm editing my OWN post. He is more valuable (arguably) than Sale. THAT is how good Q is. That is simply not a fact.
  2. It's a good question. I think it comes down to whether or not you're comfortable with topic overlap between the two forums. For example, I don't think anyone gives a s*** that Marco Estrada just agreed to a two-year deal with the Blue Jays, so no one would open up a thread in PHT about it, but I would think that a Matt Weiters thread about the QO should/would show up in both places, but that the PHT thread about it would get the most activity. How clean do you want/need it to be?
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) I have read comments from some real good hitters that their approach was to see ball-hit ball. I would suggest that maybe it's as much just having an idea of what pitch is coming at what time based on a pitchers strength and the hitters supposed weakness. Sure, but Avi is clearly not good enough to make that work. Could he become good enough? I guess it's possible, but there's no reason to suggest his talent/ability is just going to miraculously increase. If he's going to improve, it's going to have to be through approach/mechanics, and if he can't see the ball better, that's not going to happen.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) I think including Tim Anderson in the deal would make sense, since Andrelton would be taking his spot. Would Anderson and Montas for Simmons have worked? Or is that an overpay? They've already got Albies, who I think they must see as their Tim Anderson. But that's okay, we would then have either a trade chip or a 2B prospect that could actually hit.
  5. I would've given up a similar package for Simmons. Montas + Danish + Sanchez + some rando. Guess we'd have to beat it a little -- maybe EJ + Montas + Sanchez + rando or something, but I wish we did it.
  6. I do not want to pay for this dude's career-year he just had for a different team.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) How many teams throughout MLB history have had 4 lefty starters? We need to trade Jose Abreu because no team with Jose Abreu has ever won a pennant.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 02:43 AM) I'd be all for trading 2-3 of our lefties and bringing Mark back. Or like I said make Danks a lefty reliever. Teams with four lefty starters DO NOT win pennants. lol greg
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) There is so much wrong with this that I don't even know where to start. 1. Why would the Sox want Castro or Ross? 2. Even if they did want them, why would they trade Q or Rodon for them? 3. Who is Hannemann? 4. The Cubs and Sox won't be making any blockbuster deals any time soon. It's green bro
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:49 AM) Quintana would instantly become their #1, plus I'm sure Sox would add some top prospects to go along with it. They aren't exactly going anywhere with that pitching staff. But they create a hole as big as the one they fill. I'm sure they want Quintana, but they're going to want to trade prospects, not other stars they already need.
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) this was just announce on MLB trade rumors. Ah-seop Son will be posted next week. does anyone think the sox will enter a bid??? Yes
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) Brewers, Reds, Cubs, White Sox, Twins Reds or Cubs would be bonkers. I'm surprised we're still not eliminated, but what do you know? Gotta be Brewers, Twins, or White Sox.
  13. I don't know why you guys are saying that the Brewers and Phillies don't make sense -- this is exactly that type of upside play that rebuilding teams SHOULD make. It's really no different than us getting Abreu. The guy is only 29. If we can cut LaRoche, the Phillies can cut Howard.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) All of the top-polling candidates for president do that intentionally and it doesn't seem to affect their standings with the American populace. In fact, it often enhances their status and they usually never get called on it. Somehow my preference for a GM who was at least a varsity (starter) athlete at baseball, basketball or football was turned into my desire to have a combine with 40 times, bench presses, squats and verticals...but whatever. So I'll ask again how many GM's have led their teams without ever having been a varsity starter in a major sport in high school? Ok, this has to be a joke post. You are trolling us at this point, right?
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) Fair enough. But I also hope we don't have to read a stream of constant criticisms of White Sox fans as a primary excuse for why their team is being run so poorly. Basically, the idea that we should still loyally go out and buy tickets just because of 2004-2006 even though we're now a full decade removed from that time period. Or that we have to adhere to others' conceptions of what is the model or ideal Sox fan. For example, Lip has faced a lot of criticism here for speaking out honestly or in a "dark cloud"/pessimistic way. The idea we have to always be optimistic is equally annoying. If you follow Sox baseball at all, you know he's a true fan. And that's the only thing that matters, or should matter. So, to summarize, I'm happy to praise the front office when they do something well, such as Abreu, Eaton or Rodon. On the other hand, Hahn hasn't provided many reasons for us to trust his baseball instincts, especially as it relates to the coaching staff (or we simply have to believe KW is meddling in every organizational decision and Hahn is willing to accept the same scenario that just drove AA from Toronto). At any rate, the clock is ticking. Back to our topic. It's got nothing to do with your opinion, it's that you are hijacking EVERY THREAD with it. Like we can't f***ing talk about Alexei Ramirez's option because "JR-conspiracy-futility-88-years-scouting-f***-Dayton-Moore-intradivision-record-RObin-Ventura-whatever" Just add a disclaimer to your signature so that literally every thread can have text slobbing on the Royals, but we can tune it out and pretend it isn't there.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Absolutely not. No, No Maybe No On a side note; I didn't think anyone could be as smug as Keith Law, but Cameron smug trumps Law by a mile. I disagree very strongly. Cameron is just an awkward dude who is accustomed to people calling his opinions s***. I used to think he was smug, but I've read/listened to a TON of his s*** over the years, and I think it's more of an unintentional lack of grace. Also -- in Cameron's defense (I know, I know, I sound like a fanboi), his self-appointed task was to force himself to choose a destination for every significant free agent. He wasn't claiming that this is what the Sox SHOULD do, rather matching up prices and players with perceived needs and front office tendencies. Cameron actually is FIRMLY in the camp that the Sox should blow it up and trade everyone. I don't agree with that opinion, but this article clearly doesn't reflect his RECOMMENDATIONS, instead they reflect his GUESSES. Edit: Wow typos
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) If we were to spend $40 million this off season, we would target at least one higher end player. I still think our big move this winter will be via trade. I agree.
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) How old is Howie Kendrick? It seems like he was with the Angels forever. This reeks of Orlando Hudson. I'll pass. Only 32, somehow. I thought the same thing. Dude hits, though.
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) I dont know, the Mariners are in a tough spot in needing to contend right now without a lot of pieces. Their payroll is already at $95 or so without him, so not sure they want to throw almost $16 MM at him next year. You're probably right, as even the Angels are looking to offer David Freese a QO, just seems like a bad situation for them. He'll command a three year deal in the neighborhood of $16m easily -- no chance at all he accepts the QO. Remember that no one has ever accepted the QO, and he's not really a borderline case. David Freese, now that one seems a bit risky.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) I'll be very interested to see is Iwakuma gets a QO tomorrow. If he doesn't, he would be an interesting 3 year deal guy which would allow the Sox to trade Q. He will.
  21. Signing him would ensure that he's still able to create more losses for the White Sox.
  22. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) Do you think they'll give Beckham a Qualifying Offer? lol
  23. QUOTE (Ballz-n-Strikes @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 02:47 AM) This team needs to be blown up. Trade Q and get BIG offensive pieces. If that doesn't work, dangle Sale. We need to score runs to win games - this team is completely incapable of that. The fact that Q isn't regarded like Kershaw is...is your evidence. I'd argue he's better. And that's not even our BEST chip. Fire everyone. GET THAT FARM BUILT UP with smart picks (we've been decent at this lately in upper rounds), and dump the trash (Alexei, Danks, LaRoche).... Sometimes you have to pay someone to get the garbage off your lawn... So do it. It's not going to kill Jerry to send a few bucks to get rid of ineptitude and life-sucking death. Get a mgr...even look at Ozzie. When he's not being a tool; he happens to be an excellent mgr. So many things wrong with this team.... You would not seriously argue that Quintana is better than Kershaw. Also, what good would it do to trade Quintana for "big offensive pieces" if the gola is to "blow it up"?
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Can you imagine having an infield of Olt or Beckham at 3B, Saladino at SS, Sanchez or Micah at second and Abreu at first? With all due respect to Abreu, that's by far the worst infield in baseball 2016 and one of the worst in Sox history. No, why are you imagining that? It's November 4th. Why would that be the plan?
