Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) We should do a poll and ask ... at what cost would u bring back Mark. I'd say ... any cost. Just outbid everybody. It's not our money. And ticket prices will be outrageous no matter if he signs or not. Come on, man. Obviously it's not our money, but we still care about how it's being spent, because any money that goes to Buerhle is money that doesn't go to another player(s). And that includes saving money this year and spending it down the road. The payroll is not unlimited.

Danks and Floyd drawing interest
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) You have to be at least a middle-aged man. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how you still can't get how this works. You're not a pre-teen playing Xbox. In real life, teams don't take Adam Dunn after batting .159 for an entire season with three years and $42 million remaining on his contract just because you turn off the intelligent trade option. I seriously don't get how you constantly say things as simple (not as in "easy to understand", but rather "moronic") as this. +1 to this. Everyone please stop acting like KW is intentionally punishing the fans by keeping the players you hate instead of just trading them for better players that you like. He is under pressure to cut payroll, so he has to trade some people. No one wants the highly paid bad players, so he has to move the highly paid good players.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) By trading away what asset? Probably something we'd get from the trades of Quentin/Floyd/Danks, which is assumed under the scenario he mentioned.

Packages that would net us a haul
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) I don't think you are going to get Bailey, Alonso, and Grandal for Danks and Thornton, I'm sorry, you just won't. Yeah, I think you go for Grandal instead of Alonso in that scenario, not Grandal PLUS Alonso.

Selig announcing changes including Astros and Wild Card
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) no other team needs to be moved. There are now 5 teams in the AL West and 5 teams in the NL Central Is this move effective immediately? 2013

Packages that would net us a haul
QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) Rockies would salivate over Danks, and they have several players who would really help the White Sox. I would love to see a big trade between these two teams, given that they have the worst GM's in MLB. This is the only way Kenny would have a level playing field in trade discussions. Who would we target on the Rockies? I'm not familiar with their farm

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) sooo what happens if we rebuild and dunn, rios, and beckham all have bounce back years but we fall short because we traded/let go of buehrle, danks, and or floyd and our pitching is turrable??? Do we blame kenny or since thats what we all want itll be all good??? just a thought We'd get pitching at the deadline if we needed it.

Escobar could be option at 2B
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Escobar can't hit. I see him more as the IF super sub playing the role Vizquel did This. His ceiling is not much higher than Beckham's floor, offensively.

Your excitement level for the 2012 White Sox Pt.1
5 or 6, honestly. We're probably going to see a couple significant trades. The output of that is the chance for us to get excited about the progress of some prospects for the first time in a long time, and our expectations of next season are really low, but even losing a couple guys, our team still has a solid chance to take the division. Our lack of success was based on good players playing badly for no good reason at all. A healthy Peavy and an average season from Dunn/Rios could be enough to take the Central even without Buerhle and one of Danks/Floyd. So, it'll be nice to go into next season being able to focus on watching the players and maybe getting lucky with success, instead of expecting dominance and getting frustrated and angry when I don't see it every day.

Danks and Floyd drawing interest
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 06:11 AM) Addison Reed is the future closer of this team anyway. But Santos is an arb guy so it doesn't hurt to keep him for a while unless some team(s) offers a solid prospect(s) for him. You can't have too many good relievers, we really need to stop thinking about RPs in terms of Closer/Setup/etc., ESPECIALLY because of how ridiculously volatile their performances are from year to year. Very few RPs stay good for more than a couple years.

Danks and Floyd drawing interest
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) Well yeah, if the Yankees will not give up Betances or Banuelos than there is not fit probably. I would take Nova + others for Danks but they probably would not give up Nova either. What are the board's thoughts on potential Yankee hauls for Danks? Nova is the biggest regression candidate of 2011. His peripherals are bad, all his value is tied up in Wins. I don't want Nova except as a throw-in. Noesi, now, would be alright.

Packages that would net us a haul
Haven't heard anyone mention this, but Danks makes sense in Cincinatti, and Grandal/Alonso are burning holes in Jocketty's pockets. I don't know where we'd stick Alonso, but Grandal would be nice.

Packages that would net us a haul
I still think CQ makes sense for the Braves. Something centered around a Beachy/Minor/Delgado type would make sense. Really, I think they may be a bit down on Vizcaino too.

Is De Aza an ideal lead off hitter?
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) This just in, Bill James Handbook projects the following line for De Aza next year... .293/.350/.450. But it's only over 240 PAs. Nevertheless, it's about what I thought he'd be without the inflated BABIP. I'll gladly take that over Pierre any day. I would LOVE that line over 600 PA from him next year.

Could Sox shop Gordo?
I just don't see getting any value out of him right now. Given the current state of the roster, I think you have to just hope he figures it out. He makes league minimum.

KCR acquires Jonathan Sanchez for Melky Cabrera
Pretty even deal, I think. SFG fans seem to hate Sanchez. Dave Cameron says his high walks are due to his approach, rather than still-developing command: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/j...-good-as-his-k/

Aww, I was really starting to like Bill. Maybe they knee-jerked because he was about to give Cuddyer a five year deal.

KCR acquires Jonathan Sanchez for Melky Cabrera
Dayton Moore read our thread about Manto and figures that once Sanchez walks a few, our hitters will start swinging at everything and strike out.
