If Thornton makes the 25-man roster, our bullpen is toast. Thornton's role for now should be in AAA.

Game Thread 3/20: White Sox vs. Royals
bulokis replied to SouthsideBlitz's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) What the hell is going on? Three walks in one inning for McCarthy? Yeah what the hell is going on? Everytime we have a lead in a game, our bullpen gives it up no matter how many runs are we leading. Hope this doesnt continue in the season. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) sure it does.... If Thornton is on the roster, he's in danger of being used. That hurts the Sox. I agree with that. I was rooting for Borchard to make it as OF reserve bcoz at least he plays the OF. Maybe Kenny will get an OF that bats right handed to help our bench.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Here's the question...who will throw more innings this year, El Duque, or Mark Prior? Kerry Wood

I wouldnt mind Villareal at all. I would think he would be better than what we have in Redding and Montero.

Ozzie has been testing these bullpen pitchers especially in the 9th but they all have sucked. I guess its better to find out now how these pitchers react on pressure situations instead of during the season. Great comeback though. I thought we had this one.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) they must be signaling in the signs off a score board in the outfield.... those theifs! I know its only spring training but its nice to win once in a while.

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Man i REALLY hope pods is okay.. hermie has been having trouble for months, and we can live without him. I really REALLY dont want pods to be hurt. Our offense without Pods will be a lot different and I hope he is ok to start on opening day.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) I too would like to see our guys start racking up a few more hits. But right now, I'm more concerned with Hermanson's replacement and the second lefty situation. Same here, I am concerned about our bullpen. We need righty set up man and a Loogy. KW probably is looking but we need some of the young guys to step up big. What ever happened to Josh Fields the pitcher?

Great read. Our future outfield looks great with good speed, defense and power.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Vazquez's line: 2.25 ERA, 5.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 HR, 0 BB, 5 K I am open to seeing that stat line every 5th day. Go Sox.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) This is no doubt dissapointing. But the Bears offer was more than fair. I guess I read too much into the "coming back home" stuff. I heard him say he would need to be overwhelmed to signed with another team other than the bears so Redskins did. He would have been good as a PR/KR, and a 3rd WR. The bears need a WR that can step up to be a #2 or #3.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) I wonder if Redding or Tracey would take Hermy's place if he is hurt? With Hermy's back being an issue, we definitely need somebody to help our bullpen. I would take Tracey instead of Redding. Duaner Sanchez would look good in our bullpen but I think the mets gave up a lot to get him. Whatever happened to Josh Fields the pitcher? He looked great last year in spring training games that I saw on TV.

Ryan Sweeney is having another impressive spring training. It is so good to see him with that power he lack last year.

White Sox Acquire Infielder Alex Cintron
bulokis replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(AirScott @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 08:10 AM) it's why this deal makes so much sense. believe it or not, he hit like .320 a few years ago, and say Iguchi hits bad enough that it warrants him being benched (which I don't see happening anyway), or even if Uribe plays bad enough (at the dish and defensively) that it warrants the same, it helps to have someone like Cintron to step in. I really like this deal. Cintron could be a decent SS/starter in any other teams but to have him as a backup for 2B/SS definitely makes our team a lot better. What's with the deal with the closers we produce in the minors?(Almonte, Valentine, now Baj) -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Freddy in the WBC I looked at the box score. looks like Freddy was nasty.

I just got home from work but I am loving this trade. What's the whole consensus on soxtalk about this deal? I cant go through 26 pages on this thread. -
finally good to hear those words again

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Sweeney has a great swing. I still think within 3 years our OF will be Owens, Anderson, Sweeney Sweeney was great to watch 2 years ago? when he was with the sox for spring training. He is definitely a good looking player and KW knows better not to trade him.

He is not invited to the major league camp right? Im still rooting for Honel to make it.

Lefties Boone Logan & Heath Phillips to get a shot
bulokis replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree, let's run this competition for a while to see who will pitch their ass off. Let's see who will grab and hold this opportunity they are present ala Ozuna last year. -
It would be nice to get our first win today.
