QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) Go back 5 days ago when I posted in the Dunn thread that Oswalt to the Phillies will be done, from the same source. There is no online source that says we've shifted our focus to Berkman. Your guy says we have, though?

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Miguel Tejada has been scratched from his game, where did he go? San Diego I'm guessing.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) Kotsay will not be sent down It will be Lilli or Viciedo most likely If there is a Berkman acquisition, it would have to be both Viciedo and Lilli going down, Ozzie doesn't roll with a 6 man bullpen. Unless of course they DFA Kotsay.
-
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Kotsay and Viciedo are the two logical guys to send down once Teahen comes back and IF we make a trade. I get the feeling it might be Lillibridge instead of Kotsay in reality. I don't think they could honestly keep Kotsay over Lillibrige. Lilly can run and play both IF and OF well, once Teahan comes back, Kotsay is really useless on this team.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Assuming that Kotsay actually lost his at bats. Berkman is bigger, still switch hitty, plays 1st much better than Kotsay and has a better beard. I'm sure Ozzie would love him. 1st place team, great pitching and he just saw his buddy Oswalt leave, not a whole lot left for him in Houston.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) I would imagine with Flowers having a far better 2 months in the minors he still has some value, I think Astros are in salary dump, so I would expect them to take very little. I'm guessing that the org would want to hang on to Flowers right now, especially with AJ's struggles this year.
-
Well, unless we take on all of his salary or something, I don't see what we could really offer Houston. Holmberg/Gilmore/Escobar? QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Yup, same here. He has a wOBA of .356 right now, which would be like a 15 wRAA upgrade over Kotsay. There is a 2.7 difference in their WAR's right now, Berkman at 1.9 on the season after a horrid start, and Kotsay at -0.8... QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) Berkman's brought his numbers back up to respectability. I would definitely take him for the right price. We'll have to pick up a lot of salary, but right now, our prospects are a lot more important than our finances. ZiPS projects a .383 wOBA the rest of the way for him, I'll take it. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) I really disagree on that...because it strikes me that Morel is one of those guys who isn't hugely valuable in a trade (because he doesn't have superstar upside) but could be really useful to us (by being a reliable average bat with a good glove and cheap). Morel strikes me as a guy that is a very sure bet to be useful in the majors and I think a lot of organizations would value that.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Danks + Holmberg sure. Keep Morel at all costs if you can. I really doubt Danks is going anywhere. Morel seems like the most viable piece to get moved, IMO.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) With Brett Wallace just being traded to the Astros for Anthony Gose, I think that this may mean Lance Berkman gets moved by the deadline. Wallace would become the heir to Berkman. I would think Berkman would come cheaper than Dunn. So maybe Hudson + Torres or some other non top-prospect? They just traded Oswalt for a pitcher with less upside than Hudson, I think we could get Berkman if we took on his salary and gave them a combination Morel/Holmberg/etc.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) 4th organization in about a year for the 13th overall pick in the 2008 draft. The dude rakes too, is Gose really that great of a prospect?

The Astros are flipping Gose for Brett Wallace. WTF? http://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/19853461575

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) You've got to move the runner to third there. I love how we complain in games that we've won. And as far as the lineup selection, what are the Sox, 10-0 in their last 10 home games. I like all 10 of those lineups. This board is going to be insane after every loss the rest of the season I predict. The tone of the board is utterly negative this year IMO. You may disagree, but I think the tone is soooooo negative this season on here. Maybe it's the economy putting many in a bad mood most of the time and needing to vent on here. I've lurked this site for the past 4 years and its always been negative.
-
I think the Sox probably have a tentative deal in place for Lilly, and they're going to see how Garcia and Huddy pitch these next 2 days, and, if they struggle, they'll iron out the little details and bring him over.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) 1976 East Germany women's swimming? WTF? It was before the razor's time in that country. -
Wouldn't be surprising, but would seem to be a precursor to a deal involving Hudson. If they can get him for nothing big, I would be stoked, decent pitcher but is most likely getting type A status and will be in line for a multi year deal.

Indians actually got something back, 2009 1st round pick, lefty, wow. Something like an 8.3 k/9 too.
